yes this is true. update via disk or installation media will have option to keep document on current windows. but installed software won't work and you need to reinstall it. but some installer dont have this function.

exactly.

finally downloaded all uups for build 15063.0 and converted one of them for testing. most notably, windows updates has some new options:

it's still better than none i guess.

edit: also, the default shell is now powershell instead of command prompt. there is no time bomb this time.

Command Prompt still there? Or removed? I've never use powershell yet.
Well, I'm waiting for official Creator release. Will see how.

yes it's still there; you can switch between the two in settings > personalization > taskbar

this one runs explorer without uac checking. sounded dangerous to me. i think you should disable it.

sorry i'm not sure if this caused bsod.

edit: it's in scheduled tasks? can it be something that ccleaner needs to do after skipping uac checking? for instance doing some administrative tasks?

i have tested the command above via command prompt, and it ran without errors.

nod.gif i tested on cmd without any error too but recently i spotted this tasks on my ccleaner.

i'm not sure related with the recent windows updates. previously, i just disabled but now i deleted the "CreateExplorerShellUnelevatedTask" at %windir%\tasks & scheduled task at ccleaner too.

yes the bsod might relate to windows updates; it might go away after reboots. (although mine was working fine)

i'm not sure the BSOD related with the windows update or not but i ended up installed W10 on top of it (not clean install) & now everything stable.

let's wait & see the next windows update have "CreateExplorerShellUnelevatedTask" re-appear again or not.

ok. after some brief look-ups online, apparently this entry was created by microsoft, and can be deleted without side effects. as i suspected before, it's used for automated tasks that need to skip uac checking.

i have removed mine hehe

i think something is missing when they do cleanups; i have cross checked several machines of mine; all patched to the latest but not all of them have this.

really weird maybe something wrong at my side. most likely, i think related to my malwarebytes & now can't even update the the latest database too.

oh.

i use windows defender + emet combo mainly. for me it's good enough, because most of my computing activities are in vms.

yeah previously i'm also using that combo u mentioned. the reason i use malwarebytes is due to the combination anti-exploit in one app but guess what, i'm disappointed with the new v3.

uh why disappointed? as long as these anti-everything do not take up much system resources or causing weird symptoms, they should be better than the default os combo.

It's not officially released yet. At the moment, you can only get it as an Insider via Windows Update or by downloading latest iso.
