Anyone here can reproduce this issue with USB Type-C? I'm still stuck with old motherboard.
Symptom: Systems with support enabled for USB Type-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) may experience a blue screen or stop responding with a black screen when a system shutdown is initiated. Workaround: If available, disable UCSI in the computer system’s BIOS. This will also disable UCSI features in the Windows operating system. |

QUOTE(horns @ Oct 11 2017, 07:04 PM) by latest, you mean which one? yes i have f87 rgb and pok3r rgb, but these are not the latest (the newer models are mf and kd series; but they are using usb 2.0 only) I thought the latest one should come with USB Type-C. By the way, I'm using old G104 w/o LED. edit: iKBC boards are cheap and good |

QUOTE(horns @ Oct 18 2017, 03:49 PM) nice; almost all tools that i need are updated and ready. performing another clean install for those machines that run home-brew I didn't use EMET anymore. I'm still sticking with Malwarebytes Premium it's really good that it has a anti-exploit-like feature integrated into windows defender now hehe (emet is not compatible for w10 1709 anymore) |

@horns Damn, the AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional Edition unable to merge the 451 MB recovery partition anymore.
This error popped out. P.S. The version of your system is equal or higher than 1703. We suggest you don't resize/move system partition, which may cause system boot failure. We suggest create a Windows PE bootable media and rezise/move system partition with it. This post has been edited by g104: Oct 18 2017, 08:37 PM |

QUOTE(horns @ Oct 18 2017, 09:52 PM) not sure about language, but yes they are in the form of aio for a particular language. Damn frustrate when there's a huge patch update, automatically a 450 MB healthy recovery partition will be created each time. from the message above, i believe you can still use their windows pe bootable media to do the same. maybe there will be future versions that support the feature, if there are many requests, and if it can be developed and done properly. FYI, I came from v1703 (Clean install). Oh yeah, I forgot you clean install whole OS. I tried to run sfc /scannow stuck @ 38%, then I re-run it, but it's still quite slow. QUOTE(horns @ Oct 19 2017, 02:13 PM) you should get this right after few tries of windows updates. (maybe traffics are still heavy at the moment) I ran the Windows Update Assistant & my build number is 16299.19. the relevant update history is at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4043961 this is the one which bumped the build number to .19 Cumulative Update Build 16299.19 (KB4043961) is currently rolling out to Windows Insiders running Build 16299.15. This update only includes quality improvements and no new OS features. Key improvements include: - Addressed issue where, after removing apps, they’re reinstalled on every restart, logoff, and login. - Addressed issue where localization of the error output from a JET database is broken. Only English error strings are reported. - Security updates to Windows kernel-mode drivers, Microsoft Graphics Component, Internet Explorer, Windows kernel, Microsoft Windows Search Component, Windows TPM, Windows NTLM, Device Guard, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Wireless Networking, Microsoft Windows DNS, Windows Server, Microsoft JET Database Engine, and the Windows SMB Server . QUOTE(horns @ Oct 19 2017, 03:12 PM) oh windows update assistant should pull the latest updates in the process. for installs/upgrades from iso, build number is .15. I still don't have any idea to merge the recovery partition except a clean install. The 451 MB means a lot to me. edit: just finished clean installs for my work machines at office. everything is good (including softperfect ramdisk, primocache; bitlocker enabled) as always, it's the least problematic (getting rid of additional space for those recovery partitions as well) |

@horns I sent an email to AOMEI. The support team replied;
"Thank you so much for contacting us. Yes,as your system is Win 10,so for the sake of the system security, Partition Assistant display that message so you can use Aomei Partition Assistant to create a bootable disk first, then boot your PC from that bootable disk to enter in Aomei Partition Assistant's interface and retry "Merge partition" feature." My micro SD card unable to create 'USB Boot Device'. I gave up already, as I usually use the micro SD card to clean install. Maybe I'll grab a 8/16 GB USB pen-drive in the future. QUOTE(abu.shofwan @ Oct 21 2017, 12:43 PM) Successfully updated to 1709 early morning today 1709 > 1703 So far so good But skyrim feels a bit more sluggish now (my system, with its integrated gpu and dual core HT cpu, is actually not intended for gaming, but yeah... If it can, then why not...) What's your Skyrim version? Did you update the latest Intel HD graphic? |
