Nothing much comment at guru3D forums about this driver. Maybe later.
*
Actually, just game ready driver. Patiently wait for few more cumulative updates from Microsoft will be solved.

@horns I have a new issue, how to prevent my Google Chrome auto popped out of my last viewed page once I turn on the PC.

Yeah, even I rebooted, Chrome automatically starts. I always choose Open the New Tab page with Speed Dial (extension) enabled.

i have tried chrome out just now, everything stock. nothing weird came out. (btw i was giving the wrong idea about onStartup. it actually means when you run chrome, not when you starts the os and do it automatically)

is it possible that your chrome has been hijacked?
*
Impossible.. I tried to reset again & still the same.

i suspected this because it's not the default behavior. yes, try reset and disable all extensions to see if it's running normally.
*
Like I open task manager & google chrome (few pages tab) then restart. The task manager & browser auto open for me.

Auto saved my last activity. How to disable? I disabled hibernation already.

really not sure. i have tested with few restarts. nothing. did you put chrome in the os startup?

sorry i actually very seldom use chrome. i use firefox only.
*
Nope, weird even task manager also auto turned on itself. Never mind, I'll reset & keep my files. If still the same, then I'd clean install directly.

Damn, I had clean install still the same.

.. you mean chrome still starts automatically when windows booted?

this is weird. afaik chrome is not that aggressive. there must be something else.
*
Yeah, when 1st boot or every reboot. My task manager & google chrome confirmed auto appeared.

did you close them properly before shutdown, or you let them run and then shut down?

i tested with task manager, with it running, then shutting down the computer, it will appear during next boot. if your closed it properly before shutdown, it will not.

there must be some notes in w10 1709 that we have missed out lol!
*
Open Task Manager & Google Chrome - Reboot or Shutdown - Both appeared.

Close Task Manager & Google Chrome - Reboot or Shutdown - Nothing happened.

How come nobody noticed this one? New features? hmm.gif

If this kind of scenario, how I know my PC is crashing or auto reboot while I'm not in front of my PC.

lol yes, it's a new feature, most probably under 'accounts' described here, https://www.windowscentral.com/whats-new-se...creators-update

you can check out event viewer from traces of restart.

edit: i don't think it affects all the apps. if not we should have noticed this long time ago.
*
Noted. Thanks. I turned off "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart." still the same & I gave up already.

Do you have Origin? The server down?

Did your Windows Fast Startup is enabled?

I don't think it's a new feature, before Fall Update I already noticed such behaviour.
*
Yeah, since 1703 not early stages, but later. Of course I disabled Fast Startup or Fast Boot.

wow this auto-launch feature is in our systems since vista era. it's been there for so long, and they shall remain the same.

alt-f4, my favorite way to shut down my pc. (i usually close all apps then os with it) no wonder i always found nothing weird. who could have guessed different ways that were supposed to do the same thing, are actually different lol

well at least we now have some basic understanding about this 'feature' smile.gif
*
Yeah, some people might like it, but I don't. The temporary solution is ALT + F4 on the desktop. Thanks for your help & greatly appreciated. Cheers~

forgot to mention this, if you enabled controller folder feature, add the game executables (bf4.exe) in allowed app list. it will work.
*
I don't have this option & might be the O&O ShutUp10 disabled it.

That day, the Origin keep mentioned, I'm not connected so I reinstall the Origin application & everything back to normal.

oh ok. i enabled controlled folder, so games cannot write anything if i don't put them into the allowed list.

I know the reason, because I had disabled the Windows Defender with O&O ShutUp!

17025 Preview

- We fixed the issue where if you RDP into a PC running this build with certain GPU configurations, when you go to sign in to the PC locally it will appear stuck at a black screen with only the cursor available.

- We fixed an issue where toggling some DX9/DX10/DX11 games between windowed and fullscreen (for example using Alt + Tab) could result in the game window become black on certain PCs.

17017 Preview

- We fixed an issue causing reduced performance in some DirectX 9 games running at high framerates. If you’re a fan of gaming, please take a moment to try playing your favorite games on this build and share feedback.

- We fixed an issue where certain graphics drivers might result in night light displaying with unexpected colors when enabled in recent builds.

- Going forward from this build, the settings to disable hibernate and Fast Startup will be preserved across upgrade.

I don't understand Microsoft why keep adding extra stuff which can cause other issues.

HDR is really disaster & luckily I can't afford it now.

I think Nvidia 388.00 solved the Vulkan issue, my DOOM no longer stuck when exit.
*
388.10 is not working good for my side with other games. I tested few previous drivers & so far Vulkan is working flawlessly.

FYI, I don't think you will benefit anything by using Vulkan, so I suggest you should stick with OpenGL for better performance.

The Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus uses the same engine like Doom (2016) so NVIDIA users should stick with OpenGL except your processor is weak like mine. whistling.gif

this is the nature of 'windows as a service'. this is also the reason why there is a long-term branch for business and enterprise that contain much lesser changes.

while it's good in general, making sure the os can offer new features when they're ready, sometimes they break things in the process.
*
By the way, are you using Insider Preview or stable version?

My DOOM no longer facing any issue. I am sticking to Vulcan in this case. smile.gif
*
Now, I had re-test Vulkan with Doom, ALT + TAB out & my screen is black & no cursor so I was forced to hard reboot.

So now you don't have any issue with Vulkan (ALT + TAB)? I thought this was Microsoft issue.

haha we are all busy with life. luckily these days everything is fine.

last night i had a weird issue with the latest nvidia driver 388.13 for bf4. game sessions ran fine until in the middle of the game; suddenly fps dropped from 144 fixed to 30-45c for no reasons. (i mean literally; cpu and gpu temperatures were below 65c; everything was normal; nothing related could be found in event viewer)

the solution was simple: reverted to 388.00. everything is fine again. it didn't happen in bf1 or pubg.
*
I know a lot people having issues with 388.13, try too update Visual C++ Runtime Installer might solved your issue.

I'm still using 388.13, if VC++ can't solved then stick with 388.00.
