I have an SSD & HDD. Win10 is in the SSD. All my data are in the HDD. Based on HowToGeek, Fast Startup will lock the Windows hard disk during a shutdown, preventing access from other OS.

QUOTE
When you shut down a computer with Fast Startup enabled, Windows locks down the Windows hard disk. You won’t be able to access it from other operating systems if you have your computer configured to dual-boot. Even worse, if you boot into another OS and then access or change anything on the hard disk (or partition) that the hibernating Windows installation uses, it can cause corruption. If you’re dual booting, it’s best not to use Fast Startup or Hibernation at all.

Question:
Since it will lock my SSD, does it lock my non-Windows-drive HDD? I have plan to use my data HDD with Ubuntu.

i can't find the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\TestHooks

change Threshold from 1 to 0

the test hook entry not in the list.
adding manual to the registry is useless and result still the same... rdp not responding after period.

Finally purchased a 1TB hard disk yesterday. Successfully installed and activated Windows 7 32 bit on the new disk. Then, thankfully, I'm managed to install Windows 10 64 bit, too. Happily running on a 64 bit workstation now, and I will be pumping in the RAM at a later time. sweat.gif

By the way, on my old HD is a Office 2013 original copy. Rather unfortunate, I've lost all proof of purchase and installation of it. If I'm to set the old HD as primary bootable OS again, will I be able to retrieve whatever info used to install the Office 2013, and migrate it over to the new HD with Win 10?
