Read many rounds of coffee grinders recently...

Come across this model: Tiamo HN600
And Capresso 560.01 Infinity Burr Grinder

Above range is around RM300 for HN600 while Capresso about RM480.
No idea why Capresso sell more than RM1k in Lazada
Which one is better?

Need a budget version to play around first before heading something more...

Will be visiting this shop in Taiwan...

Anything worth a buy or look!?  icon_rolleyes.gif

lazada always the expensive ones.... Last time i brought a grinder from them cost about 1k more but when i went to shop and saw the same model it is only rm800 only.... mega_shok.gif

Well I am trying to pull the graph on coffee freshness vs time. Even you don't use it to grind, can use to monitor beans freshness!

And this is coffee thread, press or drip don't give coffee lover the coffee joy?
*
Don get me wrong about me against press or drip, i just sharing my thought on the devices and not about drip or press.

Why so serious? its all about coffee and it says can go up to espresso grind! so we just debate only!! and heck i still love the ordinary Kopi-o in kopitiam!! but still hates starbucks!! Its a price and quality thing!! if you can relate to it!! tongue.gif

@d33 WOW i saw your ms silvia is sold!! so no espresso for you already? or u've done mod-ing your oscar?
*
Yup, My silvia now is in better hands of new owner only so i can concentrate on my modding. The silvia is attracting me to make more coffee...just joking lol.gif

Haha, I 'm not quitting espresso yet, I still have my oscar but not in working condition yet (Due to time constraint that i spend with my family so sorry Oscar, you have to wait for a while) and i know it been delaying weeks after weeks now as what could had been done faster now take almost a month plus my new spare parts that worn off just came in.

I'm ordering the boiler retention valve made out of steel to replace my original plastic one

Original valve built consist of plastic and brass.

user posted image

and this part always broken after used for sometime. u know plastic will erode after dipping in the water sometime. This will lead to spritz and inconsistent water flow.

user posted image

New mod valve consist of one piece built full metal and brass

user posted image

used to fixed here

user posted image

that still on the shipment but i will fixed everything up first then change that later.....since it can be easily accessible without remove all of the item.

LOL rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  you deserve a cookie!! thumbup.gif  damn brave of you!! what u use to cut? Dremel tool? or the old skool way?
*
Nop, drill it with bench drilling machine and starbucks for the guy who borrow his machine to me..... i wish i got dremel tool , it would make my job easier but it is too expensive to buy just for 1 time used .... sad.gif

I'm suspecting another problem arise.... there will be nothing to hold brass steam body except for this plate that mount to the front panel which will lock between lever and the fork... got to try and see if it work. I'm only afraid it will move once i push up the lever for temporary steam.

*
Nop, Wrap a lot of PTFE piping tape.... Still there is leaks, Tried putty for piping also no used, still leaks, only way to check the leak is to remove the leak area, clean and apply thread locker again because i didn't complete remove everything when i did cleaning due to my assumption that the area are not affected. bangwall.gif

Try using silicone rubber self fusing tape. It's use to wrap up radiator hose and can withstand high temperature. As it is flexible and stick well to hard surface, should be able to prevent leak at joint. Can get this from Ace Hardware. Make sure you stretch the tape a bit while wrapping.

Thanks,
i will kept that in mind. For now, i will try to disassemble, clean and reassemble while apply new threadlocker to see if the leak due to wear on the old thread locker which advice by some expert ppl from elektros.

QUOTE(Dan430 @ Jun 22 2016, 06:41 PM)
Ahhh Great info pat!! Thanks!!  rclxm9.gif

@d33 Ouch that would be sucky!! Try using a cotton butt soaked with some dissolve solution like turpentine and try to "unlock" it? (I don't know if its safe to use it on copper or your water line, coz its kinda strong and toxic) anyway just a 2 cents. hope you found a solution!!
*
I rather not getting any chemical involve in the process. I will try to used heat gun to remove it since i saw many video show that it can be remove by heating up the area. hmm.gif

Update: Finally, I defeated the legendary fomidable red loctite 272 with mininal damage done. Boiler still intact with no dent and some small scratches and ding on the anti vacuum nut.... Now to wait for the actual used loctite which i just order from elektros.

QUOTE(Dan430 @ Jun 24 2016, 08:30 PM)
well another video for you!! tongue.gif

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mblABCJ1PLQ

and its as fast as my 64mm!! LOL that alone I'm impressed!! need to buy one and put it side by side and compare the shots! tongue.gif if i don't like either one i can sell it here!? Maybe? LOL
*
both had its goods and bad....i would choose mignon over sette after much consideration....
Yeah, sette is good, digital, direct to portafilter without wastage and fast..... but the grind is not as fine as mignon....programmable timer ? I can live it .... once set, then all done, you wont need them anymore unless you constantly change beans same goes for the dail, Clump from the grind, hmm what machine doesn't clump ..... fast, well im not doing any coffee bar or shop.... i love taking my time making a cup of coffee i love hmm.gif

but my consideration might not be agree by some... biggrin.gif

Personally I would still wait. The Sette everyone's getting today is still pre-production and I'm sure Baratza may still tweak it. To me the biggest advantage of the Sette is the minimal waste which is important for me with my lower consumption, and Baratza's very good customer service. Don't particularly care about the speed.

The other slight advantage for me is that I may be in the US when it's launched so I might just pick one up  biggrin.gif
*
True true, because what they had could be pre alpha version of grinder.... fingers cross

QUOTE(Dan430 @ Jun 28 2016, 04:36 PM)
i agree too the timer and weight is not important for me as long as i have consistency!! we are all "home barista" anyway plenty of time to make quality coffee. but bases on some reviews they mention its finest is comparable with the mignon!!!  and that is what interest me!! LOL
*
It is just all base on the feelings....that sometime it is hard to make judgement but it all comes down to who do you trust the most in your review...some say SCG review is crap some say WLL is good.... if only we could test out on real life rclxms.gif

Insane! Like that it's Mignon Mk2 for sure.....
*
I think the price is reasonable.... if you do 1 to 1 conversion is it about close to 2k......

one must not forget.... the person who sell you also want to gain profit..... plus order in taxation is not like it used to be, everything now will be charge for high price.... example taken from my friend order his watch overseas last few weeks back and got heavy tax as well.... just for rm500 watch other country price but cost him up to rm900 watch when reaches our shore to his hand....

What!! Watches are tax free items ofcoz its subjected to GST!! hmmm change of rules? idk!!

i think sette at rm2k is reasonable la!! still cheaper than vario! tongue.gif
*
well not for my friend in that case.

QUOTE(lowkl @ Jun 29 2016, 05:44 PM)
Based on the Baratza webpage for the Sette 270, the target price is USD 379.

Based on a number of websites the Eureka Mignon price is around USD 450 to USD 490 .

We know that the local price for the Mignon is around RM1900.

How can the Sette be more expensive? I would have hoped it would be at max the same.
*
Agree with below from tishaban on one of the point..... If you get US item it will be cheaper..... i brought grinder that using 110V and i can say it is cheap here few hundred ringgit but of your getting Europe or UK or anytime which runs on 240v ..... it will be expensive....

QUOTE(tishaban @ Jun 29 2016, 07:25 PM)
Maybe there's some level of capitalism/greed in there but don't forget that some European electrical goods are more expensive in the US than Europe.

In the UK the Sette is 318GBP vs. the Mignon at 280GBP

In short if you want a European item, import it from UK/Europe. If you want an item made in the US, import it from the US but live with 110v.
