philips 5986k selling for RM357 at best denki

I just bought the Philips DV5996 (RM379@SenHeng) to replace the 5yr old (faulty) Lite-on LVD2002. The USB port is convenience & this player can read any disk that i feed in.

pity it does not have a digital optical out if not i would have got Philips DV5996 too.

yeah, my old Lite-on LVD2002 have both Coaxial & Optical output compare to Philips 5996 only have Coaxial output coz of SACD.

Why u want optical out? Coaxial sounded so much better...

I agreed with you...coaxial sounded better...

But what about the HDMI cable vs coaxial???

I going to get my new AVR with HDMI.....wanna to switch to HDMI...see which one better...

Any comment????

How to select HDMI cable....Last weekends, I went to check....the sales guy mentioned on the bandwith....

i read somewhere coaxial and optical cannot carry 7.1..only hdmi carries 7.1 signal..

You can get it for RM460 only in the stores now. For DV-610, its RM660.

My old htib only has optical digital in ...until full upgrade for now i need a DVDP upscaler with optical digital out. Have set my eyes on the Sammy DVD-1080PK model.

I am the owner of Pioneer DV410 which cost me $465 only...I brought few week ago only...from A&L Armcorp Mall

So...I saw many HDMI cable in the market...from hundred to thousand $$$$$....High end one talk about the bandwidth signal of the HDMI...but...what are the minimum requirement..for our HD TV....

I read the link...but...low cost will not last long...My question is...what HDMI cable is the best to achieve the minimum requirement for HD TV and quality last long also important...

Any recommendation..? What is your choice of HDMI cable (cost and where to buy please)???

I just went to A&L Amcorp Branch yesterday, they quoted me that. But I have booked a HT set with them, so probably thats why they quote me that cheap. You can try ask, look for Alex. He is a good chap.

I am using HDMI cable from Panasonic RP-CDHG15 (1.5m) Retail for Rm199-00 ( My is free ) so far so good.I am sure u can bargain for cheaper price. Other brand too expensive me. Any problem I can complain to Panasonic.

Yeah coaxial better than optical but not enuf bandwidth to play lossless. You need hdmi for that. So far too lazy to compare hdmi and coaxial for nomal DD and DTS. I think for DVD whatever hdmi as long as it works u can use. Should be no difference one. Not sure whether u need a better quality one or not for BD because of the higher bandwidth.

Oh this one I also just got as free gift with the Panny Plasma...wah retail price is RM1xx
