no worry, SG many MRT station also the same....

some too crowded while some totally kosong....

But some areas are more in need of rapid transit. Areas like Cheras. Whereas Ampang areas are so low population as compared

SG MRT planned properly and build well. Only recently the older lines got maintenance issues.

MY MRT....Like spaghetti. Every line own by some crony company and no intergration. If confusing for citizens, how about the tourists who come? Confused until need to take taxi then kena scam by taxi.

Bear in mind, SMRT is not just MRT by rail.

Its all the Rapid Transit by RAIL, BUS AND TAXIS.

Have you seen their MRT cum Bus terminals? The moving of the masses is awfully well planned.

When SG implemented their congestion charges before their MRT is operational, their citizen just bear with it (coz they can't really effectively complain againt their govt). But Malaysian? Most asked for the public transport to improve first before they are willing to take it.

Ampang has LRT because that area already have national railway to begin with. During STAR LRT project, what was then national railway was converted into LRT.

As to the assertion of alignment decided by community make up, I would disagree to that assertion because western part of LRT which has different community make up from the eastern part of LRT are both served.

And also in coming years, Puchong and Cheras will be all connected to metro system. These are becoming reality.

Politic.....
but KL too messy to re-plan...
else buy back the land may cost MRT few fold....

now, what gov, sikit sikit will complain...
later this land dunno belong to who.
later build here, cannot , build there cannot.

In SG, when they wanna build there, who complain, they will be removed.

Actually same as, if the MRT wanna build under your house, will u allow?
of if the MRT need to build beside your condo, while ur masterbed room directly facing the MRT track, will you ok?

in SG, they dun care, just direct build. max, they just put sound barrier on the track only.

If build under ground, all the properties on top will be end block....

Yeah...only in later years that these areas are connected.

The concept of mass rapid is described by the terms themselves. We do not plan a system because there are existing rail lines, but to move masses in an efficient way to mitigate congestion.

Cheras is a horribly planned surburb.....so messy!

The overall transit system is SG is now under government body, LTA.

SMRT had played key roles in earlier MRT lines now becoming operator.

In SG, there are MRT operators, SMRT and SBS Transit. However overall system and scheme are planned by Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Our government is short-sighted and can't plan far ahead.

Only in recent years they started to realize the importance of having an efficient metro system.

Look at SG, their bus and rail are so well-integrated. Bus hubs are in every towns. Some MRT stations even function as a bus hub.

citizen have no right to complain the gov, protest will end up in court, the gov will play with the citizen until they bankrupt.

i think Malaysian now keep complain about poor public transport, if the public transport getting better, they will hope all people will take the public transport, so no people will jam their road and enjoy their car.

I really hope, if Malaysia public transport getting better, Malaysia gov should implement 10 years COE as well.
Hmm, RM 300k to get the COE before can buy the car....

I think KL has getting into right track by having one operator for LRT + monorail. MRT also going to be operated by current operator.

However, the essential thing that should be the focus is that other cities in MY need mass transit too.
