QUOTE(PangurBan @ Dec 29 2015, 04:03 PM) MK Curtain in Nilai did one set for me. Not bad. I went there for another set, the salesgirl kept running here and there and left me waiting like an idiot so I went to another place. Thanks, at least now I know I've purchased from a reliable source. This post has been edited by Xccess: Dec 29 2015, 05:00 PM |

Then as a responsible sales person just has to answer him "yes" or "no" black out. Wetcock liked this post

Blackout means MOST LIGHT is filtered out. Good quality blackout curtains will basically leave your room in complete darkness when you draw them. What you describe isn't blackout. If you feel really pissed off about this, you could be doing other people a favour by taking this to the consumer tribunal. But that depends on whether the words 'blackout' appears on your receipt. As a layman, the term black out means that area will turn totally dark without seeing the sunlight behind that's what we understood. Just wonder how the price for curtain is calculated, can shed some light here?
Say, 7ft*8ft window for material priced with Rm28/per metre, but end up the price is RM266. |

QUOTE(WahBiang @ Dec 29 2015, 11:15 PM) Just wonder how the price for curtain is calculated, can shed some light here? If you've got french pleats, they'll need to use much more material than the actual width of the curtains. How much more will depend on how far apart the pleats are spaced. Then you also need the factor in the labour cost.Say, 7ft*8ft window for material priced with Rm28/per metre, but end up the price is RM266. |

Just went for curtain hunting last week - at Jalan TAR. Tried Kamdar, (there are 2 outlets), price is reasonable plus workmanship and material is reasonable too, but i find there are more choices at Jakel Mall.
Kamdar provides workmanship for 2 weeks, Jakel for 3 weeks. Better to go and have a look for yourself. This post has been edited by evee_luca: Dec 30 2015, 10:52 AM |

Thanks bro for your suggestion to take them to consumer tribunal. The word blackout was never mentioned in my receipt. Usually the receipt only describes the model number and won't mention the percentage of blackout as this would draw them to plenty of unwanted legal issues. The 80% blackout curtain didn't really pissed me off but their after sales service did!! |

QUOTE(WahBiang @ Dec 29 2015, 11:15 PM) Just wonder how the price for curtain is calculated, can shed some light here? usually store will quote a final price, without much explanation and details.Say, 7ft*8ft window for material priced with Rm28/per metre, but end up the price is RM266. basically we work out total fabric needed for your measurement, say 7feets length windows or sliding door with fullness of 2, meaning we need to sew 14feets of fabric, approx 4.3m, and make it a 7feets curtain. this workup applies for fabric with width of 110inch. fabric with 60inch width uses different calculation. but nowadays 60inch is considered less desirable, i shall explain in later post. later |

an forummer pm for quotation, we like to share more info here.
there is 3 factors that affect curtain cost. it is quite an lengthy explain. just want to share some info, and because final product prices is factored by design, cost of fabric and measurement, so the best is only rough guest without further info. 1 because curtain arrangement, can be make into many designs, and labour cost is calculated based on RM per feet(length). different designs with be priced according to complexity of its design. the simplest design uses 4 hooked curtain hook. it is basic arrangement for curtain to hung on aluminium curtain rails fabric cut into size and sew with curtain tape, and 4 hooked curtain hook is used to gather cut fabric into desired size. the idea of fullness is important. say we use 4meters fabric sew and gather it to curtain for length of 2meters. so 4/2, fullness of 2. curtain will be gathered nicely. consider if we use 3meters of fabric for same length of 2meters curtain, 3/2, fullness is 1.5. it will still make a 2meter length curtain, will still be able to hung on our reil or wood on window, but it will less gathered, more like straighted fabric on window. fullness is important fo decide total fabric in use for each project, and hence price. of course price of fabric per meter also a factor. 2 second basic arrangement is eyelet. we use it on wooden rods. fabric is sewn, and punch holes, and eyelet ring is placed according to correct placement, finally just slot onto wooden rod and hung on wall. one pf the best arrangement, simple yet display fabric motifs without too many fancy designs. i managed 2 retail stores not on curtain department, but with better info, i.e. with your estimated fabric price range, i am happy to help. chiakc |
