QUOTE(nestahng @ Feb 3 2016, 08:04 AM) Bro, can you enlighten us with what you means by "added advantage of Avios, Qatar, Etihad, HHonors, IHG, etc."? Doesn't seems to find their terms and condition mentioned anything about the advantage towards hotel rewards program. Thanks in advance What I meant was that the 200k Citi Rewards Points can be transferred to other programs and not just KF/AM/Enrich, including Avios, Qatar etc. This is more in line with American Express Membership Rewards and quite a bit better than Maybank Treats Points. I don't disagree that the earning potential is very limited compared to Maybank Premiere cards. Also no word on annual fee waiver.

QUOTE(nestahng @ Feb 5 2016, 07:25 AM) Thanks bro for the info I was actually wondering should I go for it. Quite sure that the annual fees wouldn't be waive unless substantial amount spent(CIMB World Elite MC needed RM 1mil). What I'm wondering is, are there any other benefits(Not on paper) that is exclusive for World Elite MC holder or special benefits from Citibank itself. I honestly do not know if there are other benefits of the World Elite Mastercard, have not looked at the card much due to the high annual fee and I cannot justify paying that much for what you get. Granted RM1k minus ~Rm400 from the hotels.com voucher is still RM600 per year only. Also for me RM12k in 2 months would be stretching it in my current low spend mode...

Flew out on Etihad business class from KUL, sadly they are only giving out passes to Plaza Premium Lounge only, not the MH Golden Lounge. A bit disappointed but a least business passengers get a separate line and higher priority from credit card users getting in for free.

QUOTE(moosset @ Feb 16 2016, 03:44 PM) which credit cards allow you to collect points to be exchanged to Emirates? As of now only American Express Membership Rewards transfers directly to Emirates Skywards.

QUOTE(ho-ll @ Feb 17 2016, 10:19 PM) Does it required US-based billing address only for the purchase? Usually it doesn't, however most of these promos typically require that you already have an account in the past 30/90 days already. Try it and let us know how it goes. Don't forget Alaska also allows redemption on Emirates, but be very aware of the limitations of Alaska's redemption before you buy.

QUOTE(miuk @ Feb 18 2016, 12:47 PM) I think the only major issue i can think of with Alaskan, is that they require that the award tickets to either arrive/depart from a US location. I had a problem initially when trying to ticket an award fare from KUL-HKG-LAX as the agent was unsure about the routing rules (she thought all flights must originate from a US location). I havent really gone through the rules of Alaskan, i might be wrong here. Yes this is the exact issue ie. it must originate/terminate in the US, plus you only get to transfer to Alaska and none of the the other partners. Even their online system won't allow it. Otherwise Alaska is a fantastic airline to collect miles on, plus it's a pretty cool airline to fly with too.

QUOTE(X.E.D @ Feb 22 2016, 10:09 PM) How much would you pay for the EY First Apartments? I got a Plusgrade offer earlier this year for JFK-AUH around the sum of 1200USD to upgrade. Passed on it here- and I credit to Alitalia unfortunately. US$1,200 from economy class absolutely although it better be long haul. US$1,200 from business class definitely not.

Inspired by this post, I decided to go ahead and book the family into BOM-AUH-LHR return on the Emirates First Apartment. Unfortunately only 2 first class tickets available so the rest get stuck in Business Studios but I don't have enough miles for more anyway haha. Will post if/when the trip happens towards the end of the year! This post has been edited by tishaban: Feb 23 2016, 04:23 PM

QUOTE(moosset @ Feb 24 2016, 05:33 AM) what about Qatar? Any good CC to collect miles for that? Not sure, best to check the major cards (Amex, Citibank, HSBC) to see how to transfer to Qatar although Qatar is a OneWorld airline so you can use Enrich or Asia Miles to book it. Again google for the charts to compare.

QUOTE(herc @ Feb 24 2016, 09:04 AM) BCN-DOH-KUL, QR = QR service is incredible! Sala Miro Lounge Bacelona with pastries, snack and instant noodle cup. Qatar Airways Al Mourjan Business Lounge, i think the size is twice bigger than MH Golden Lounge, seating very comfortable, shower room very nice and with smoking room inside a lounge LOL, but with less food choice 21-day holiday sounds amazing I had that last in 2013, haven't had anything longer than 2 weeks the past few years. Was at the Al Mourjan Business Lounge last year, very big with hypnotic water features. I liked the made to order sandwiches, lots of food options upstairs too no? The lounge is huge and very airy, lots of space. The only thing missing is the free massage, this is where Etihad's lounge trumps Qatar.

QUOTE(herc @ Feb 26 2016, 09:57 AM) Looking at SIN-AKL during CNY on suites, 1 way open, 1 way on waitlist for 2 pax, how likely they will clear for nobody like me? I say very difficult. Have been scouting SIN-AKL for some time last year and it's very hard to get. If possible get one confirmed in suites, one confirmed in business, upgrade if/when suites open up. Same thing with me in 2014, had confirmed IAH-SIN and one waitlist JFK-SIN in first, JFK never cleared so I took the IAH-SIN.

QUOTE(raist86 @ Feb 26 2016, 11:11 AM) Have another option which is to book straight all under OW with JAL which based on total mileage travel is 8k miles which is under Zone 6. Routing is the same which is KUL - NRT - YVR. Is the mileage redemption calculated as each segment (ie KUL - NRT, NRT - YVR) or as a whole? If individual, then i think the miles required would be quite expensive already... If KUL-NRT-YVR is in one PNR ie. not separate tickets then it'll be calculated as one flight. Webflyer says it's 8010 miles one way.

QUOTE(miuk @ Mar 3 2016, 01:49 AM) Need some guidance. I was searching for F award availability on Emirates for DXB-KUL and vice versa. Qantas seems to show availability but when checking on Alaskaair site, F wasnt available but only J (itin shows up as a mixed cabin award, for eg, LAX-DXB in F is available but only J from DXB-KUL). Alaska's website doesn't allow itineraries that don't originate or end in the US. So KUL-DXB will probably not show up and will not be bookable. At least in my experience. If you're doing KUL-DXB-LAX then you should be able to get seats but you'll have to poke around the dates to get a full F award, I don't have much clue on when Emirates releases their F award seats but I frequently see the mixed cabin award when I do my own search for KUL-DXB-JFK, sometimes even F + Y

QUOTE(X.E.D @ Mar 4 2016, 03:23 PM) Did my calculations here- with AA I'm barely touching Platinum (OW Sapphire), while with BA I'd reach Sapphire much faster and 70% to OW Emerald, which is pretty close and doable with another biz trip. Do you think the status is worth the worse award chart? You need to figure out your future plans, if you're planning more revenue flights in the future BA would make more sense given that you'd have status which gives you a leg up if you have future BA flights. Upgrading on BA from premium economy to business is reasonably easy with Avios miles from what I understand. If you're planning more redemption flights, AA despite the devaluation to me makes more sense for me, partly because of the zone based redemption rather than distance based, partly because of their partnership with EY but again that's me. I'm flying far less these days compared to before so most of my OneWorld flights used to go to AA. Now that I've burned almost all my AA miles though I have to figure out what I want to do in the future.
