What I meant was that the 200k Citi Rewards Points can be transferred to other programs and not just KF/AM/Enrich, including Avios, Qatar etc. This is more in line with American Express Membership Rewards and quite a bit better than Maybank Treats Points.

I don't disagree that the earning potential is very limited compared to Maybank Premiere cards. Also no word on annual fee waiver.

I honestly do not know if there are other benefits of the World Elite Mastercard, have not looked at the card much due to the high annual fee and I cannot justify paying that much for what you get.

Granted RM1k minus ~Rm400 from the hotels.com voucher is still RM600 per year only. Also for me RM12k in 2 months would be stretching it in my current low spend mode...

Flew out on Etihad business class from KUL, sadly they are only giving out passes to Plaza Premium Lounge only, not the MH Golden Lounge. A bit disappointed but a least business passengers get a separate line and higher priority from credit card users getting in for free.

Yes this is the exact issue ie. it must originate/terminate in the US, plus you only get to transfer to Alaska and none of the the other partners. Even their online system won't allow it.

Otherwise Alaska is a fantastic airline to collect miles on, plus it's a pretty cool airline to fly with too.

Business/first is on CX to JFK later in the year

In case anyone wants to try out Etihad's First Apartment, I see 6 empty first seats on Monday Feb 29th AUH-LHR for only ~66k Etihad guest miles one way.

US$1,200 from economy class absolutely although it better be long haul.
US$1,200 from business class definitely not.

Inspired by this post, I decided to go ahead and book the family into BOM-AUH-LHR return on the Emirates First Apartment. Unfortunately only 2 first class tickets available so the rest get stuck in Business Studios but I don't have enough miles for more anyway haha. Will post if/when the trip happens towards the end of the year!

Not sure, best to check the major cards (Amex, Citibank, HSBC) to see how to transfer to Qatar although Qatar is a OneWorld airline so you can use Enrich or Asia Miles to book it. Again google for the charts to compare.

21-day holiday sounds amazing I had that last in 2013, haven't had anything longer than 2 weeks the past few years.

Was at the Al Mourjan Business Lounge last year, very big with hypnotic water features. I liked the made to order sandwiches, lots of food options upstairs too no? The lounge is huge and very airy, lots of space. The only thing missing is the free massage, this is where Etihad's lounge trumps Qatar.

I say very difficult. Have been scouting SIN-AKL for some time last year and it's very hard to get. If possible get one confirmed in suites, one confirmed in business, upgrade if/when suites open up. Same thing with me in 2014, had confirmed IAH-SIN and one waitlist JFK-SIN in first, JFK never cleared so I took the IAH-SIN.

If KUL-NRT-YVR is in one PNR ie. not separate tickets then it'll be calculated as one flight. Webflyer says it's 8010 miles one way.

Alaska's website doesn't allow itineraries that don't originate or end in the US. So KUL-DXB will probably not show up and will not be bookable. At least in my experience.

If you're doing KUL-DXB-LAX then you should be able to get seats but you'll have to poke around the dates to get a full F award, I don't have much clue on when Emirates releases their F award seats but I frequently see the mixed cabin award when I do my own search for KUL-DXB-JFK, sometimes even F + Y

You need to figure out your future plans, if you're planning more revenue flights in the future BA would make more sense given that you'd have status which gives you a leg up if you have future BA flights. Upgrading on BA from premium economy to business is reasonably easy with Avios miles from what I understand.

If you're planning more redemption flights, AA despite the devaluation to me makes more sense for me, partly because of the zone based redemption rather than distance based, partly because of their partnership with EY but again that's me.

I'm flying far less these days compared to before so most of my OneWorld flights used to go to AA. Now that I've burned almost all my AA miles though I have to figure out what I want to do in the future.
