Go for all of it if you have the miles (or cash)! biggrin.gif EY F has certainly set the standard, plus it's reasonably attainable with miles. Personally I would love to fly in F more frequently and add to my pajamas collection biggrin.gif but I'm flying almost always with family so that limits my options a bit.

Time to earn more miles!
*
I have to reserve miles for family trips as well sweat.gif

That said, you are right, miles are earned to be burned. Maybe I'll do a A380 F sampler trip: SIN-DEL (SQ) //BOM-AUH-LHR (EY). Coming back either via BA or QR.

You wanted to book business class or economy class? Are you on Enrich or OW FFP?
*
Do you have a lot of Enrich miles already or do you have unconverted treatpoints? I would wait a while if I have sufficient Enrich miles to redeem for the intended class of travel.

Guys, just a quick one to get opinions.  Do you think that Emirates will honor the auction upgrade (to business class) which MAS has? Emirates skybid has been down for years.

Sorry this is probably the wrong forum for this question

*
Will MHUpgrade be available for codeshare flights? I hope so. If it is offered, then I think it should be honoured. Early days I think but interesting developments for us.

I have AUH-KUL booked in EY 332 business class for our return after the CNY week, but just found availability AUH-SIN in EY 789 business suites. Unfortunately it is one day later which means the kids will miss school for 2 whole days which also means the missus probably will veto this...

Argh!

Flew out on Etihad business class from KUL, sadly they are only giving out passes to Plaza Premium Lounge only, not the MH Golden Lounge. A bit disappointed but a least business passengers get a separate line and higher priority from credit card users getting in for free.
*
That's pretty lame.

On a separate note, many thanks for the pointers re redemption for large group/families. Just redeemed KUL-HKG-JFK return in First for myself and Business for one of my sons. Another 4J seats are available as well (same flight) but as usual, I'm short of points (why am I always just short) and waiting for MBB to update my treatpoints before conversion. Agonising wait! Hope the 4J seats remain, if not, will have to break the gang up into two flights.

Gotta give credit when it's due: Maybank was super-efficient in handling my last TP conversion. I rang last night and my Asia Miles have already appeared tonight. Flying KUL-HKG-JFK on CX. Bonus is we've got 1F +5J on the same flight for HKG-JFK both outbound and inbound.

Special thanks to tishaban for showing the way to redeem award seats for groups/families. Owe you one bro!

Nice smile.gif

Just came back from a family trip to Japan on MH Economy. Luggage arrived 3 days later. Food was horrible. Service was ok. Bright side is, the kids can appreciate business class better now.

I've got 4. The day time NRT-KUL flight was tough, keeping three energetic boys occupied was a struggle (there's only that many games of Pong you can play on a 7-hr flight and remain amused). The IFE and supplied headphones left a lot to be desired. Passengers in front were treated to random kicks from behind while the 2-3 year olds ensured a good cry every 30 minutes or so. sweat.gif rclxub.gif

you made business class sounds like hell laugh.gif

We were in economy Rows 32 and 33. I think it would have been worse if the whole gang were in Business as we all know economy passengers are more understanding and forgiving than J of F passengers. I had to keep on apologising to a few Japanese sitting in front of my boys who had to endure kicks, shouts and loud noises throughout their flight.

No he was flying economy with the 11 kids.

Business/first is on CX to JFK later in the year biggrin.gif

Am trying to get the whole gang into the mini-business cabin just behind First class. Managed to get one seat so far.

Inspired by this post, I decided to go ahead and book the family into BOM-AUH-LHR return on the Emirates First Apartment. Unfortunately only 2 first class tickets available so the rest get stuck in Business Studios but I don't have enough miles for more anyway haha. Will post if/when the trip happens towards the end of the year!

Poor. BA Club World = Premium Economy IMHO.

I believe you are confusing BA Club World with BA Club Europe is it ?
Nope. I was referring to BA Club World long-haul and not the con-job Club Europe herc was referring to (which I've experienced and totally agree in that it's a rip-off). I really mean that BA's business class product is like premium economy on other airlines. I hated it that much (CW being the first truly flat J class seat notwithstanding). Hope that's clear and no one's "confused". biggrin.gif

A bunch of points bloggers may keep repeating that but that's still patently untrue.
PE is like a toy compared to actual business class- you don't get any sleep in cradle recliners.

Now of course, if there's award availability in CX, QR or MH's 380... I wouldn't choose BA.  smile.gif
*
I'm not basing my comments on what others write. I'm basing it on my experience travelling BA's Club World on both 777-200 and A380 in Nov/Dec last year. Both experiences sucked, flatbed notwithstanding. Food was bleh, service and IFE was poor but the worst part is the seat layout. Then again, YMMV.
