Thanks! great info!

so now i know SQ Upgrade space and full awards come from the same bucket. That’s to say- if there are 3 seats available for Business Saver full awards, there are 3 seats available for Business Saver upgrade awards.

Yes im aware direct redeem better value than upgrades. takkan i tell my company to save their money and i use my miles to redeem for this business trip kan blink.gif

as long as the miles required for upgrade is half than full redemption then i'm willing to upgrade la.

Anyone has any experience upgrading with Asia Miles?
*
I had read a few times upgrade and full award NOT from the same bucket.
Best if you can check, call to confirm, then only purchase and upgrade immediately.

Do note that you CANNOT upgrade from Economy Saver ticket (cheapest) to Business Saver.
You still need to "convince" your company to buy you expensive economy ticket.
Fortunately, latest revision enable us to upgrade from Economy Standard as well (besides Eco Flexi, which is super expensive).

Nevertheless, upgrade from Economy Std to Business Saver cost about 80% miles of full business saver redemption.
Where do you see upgrade is half of full redemption?
That's only applicable for Premium Eco to Business.
Hence we always said it is not worth it (for most cases).

Sometimes I will redeem one way on my own while company pay for my another one way ticket (slightly more expensive, of course I need to justify it).
Cannot simply use any airline, some airline is quoting insane price for 1 way ticket.

can you further clarify on this?

I hold both SG/MY citi premiermiles card

as per my understanding, SG card 1miles = 1 airlimes
of course when you redeem, need to pay certain fee

for MY cards RM3 = 1 citimiles … not sure how much will get to convert to airlines , I don't recall I redeem before.
no conversion fee

MBB is the easiest so far,,, convert and redeem a few flight icon_rolleyes.gif

So glad we can just charge everything to M2P. Would be a headache having to apply for and constantly monitor a myriad of cards for specialised spending. (Though I guess by optimising specialised spending in Sg, you can get better slightly better mile earn like 4mpd, but I'm happy with the RM1=1 Mile for general spending in Malaysia).

If not mistaken, I thought I've come across a Singaporean website that you can input what you're spending on, and it outputs a list of the best credit cards to use for that type of spending. But I can't seem to find that site now.
*
Yea, there is a calculator for them, and they start training their kids to pick the correct card while shopping / outings since young.
4mpd is quite good, which is 1/3 better than our Amex spending, considering not many places accepting Amex.
Nevertheless, all their 4mpd cards are capped, no good for big spender especially on luxury item.
Also their FCY is very high and not many cards are offering 4mpd (or 3mpd) for overseas, maybe they can too easily spend in Msia.

Last but not least, we have an ultimate card earning us 1 mile/RM when MU wins! Haha!
Only if MU keep winning.

This is so complicated, you have to be an obsessive compulsive to follow it....lol
*
Even US is similar (but maybe not so complicated).
That's why they need to develope calculator / tool to assist them optimizing the usage.

Actually our scenario is the same, but everyone is focusing on CB.
Do prepare bank to offer us more during competition.
Bank A will soon offers 1.2 mile for dining.
Bank B gives 1.5 mile for online, capped at RM1500.
Bank C offers 1.6 mile for overseas, minimum RM2000 usage.

I hope you are right. We are offered such different goodies compared to Singaporeans even though from the same bank. The SC X Card miles giveaway was insane.
*
Trust me, we definitely won't get something equivalent to X Card.
SC knew it is a failure and retracted immediately after one week.
From 100k to 60k and now 30k, with hefty AF, application rate will be very minimal, haha.

Maybe SC will give us X card with 30k, probably with lower AF.

Hi, may i know what do you mean about below sentence ?
" Somemore MBB implemented the 2 million airmiles capping, I use more than that. "

All the while, i'm using maybank card 2 card, I'm use the Amex. So, each ringgit i spend will earn me 5 treats point. Currently, i already have 5mil treat points. and plan to convert into krisflyer mile.
*
Based on latest MBB TP changes, you can only redeem 2 mil air miles per year. Your 5 mil TP is only half the quota.

Hi all,

After a year accumulating airmiles i now have about 300k kf miles. My wife and i are planning for a trip to US. So our plan is to to go by economy class and return by business (first time taking business and going to US smile.gif )

Is this a good option? Or should we wait a little more until we have enough miles for return flight in business.

How do i redeem flight; is it a straight foward process? I have never redeem SIA before.

Thanks
*
As mentioned above, accumulate for a little more for business return, if your travel plan is flexible.
Regarding redemption, best you play around now.
Summer is peak period to travel, may have limited space.

Is a good addition.
Would try Sin-Pen in First class just to visit Qantas First lounge in Changi.
One of the best lounge.

The only negative, it is flying on old 777

Just wondering, where did you get the 7000 points to 1000 airmiles from?

The only source i can find is from
https://www.citirewards.com/cms/sites/globa...-eng/index.page

Then when you go to travel -> points transfer, i get a catalogue, non that show that conversion. Am i looking at the wrong place?
*
7000:1000 is only valid for Prestige, which was the old rate for Citi redemption.
During Citi devaluation last year, they claimed that Prestige was not affected.
I don't have it, can't confirm for you.
Nevertheless, with Prestige recent devaluation (benefits, not air miles), it is not quite worth getting it.

Get you into Enrich Silver / Gold / Platinum
With Enrich Platinum, you can go in OW First class lounge, notably new Qantas First Class lounge in Changi.
One of the best lounge available.

mh platinum/f lounge is sub-standard if compare with qf, cx, ba, qr at syd, mel, hkg, lhr, doh.

Personally I never been to Oneworld first class lounges.
My comments below is solely based on reputable reviewers feedback.

QF F lounges are superb, no doubt, and the latest in Changi is one of the best nearest to us.
Even TPR is much inferior compare to Sg QF F lounge, esp TPR toilet (meh... deadly need upgrading)

CX F lounges in HKG are excellent too.

For QR, if you are flying QR F, you shall go to Al Safwa First Lounge in DOH.
For Oneworld Emerald, you only have access to QR F lounge, which is way inferior.

Same for BA, for BA F passenger, you can access to Concorde Room in LHR.
Whereas Oneworld Emerald only gives you the inferior BA F lounge.

I think KLIA MH F is at par with LHR BA F and DOH QR F, if not better.
Hence, this is the purpose of having Enrich Platinum (equivalent to Oneworld Emerald) to access the above lounges worldwide.

i visited f qf lounge at syd/mel, ba at lhr, cx at hkg, qr at doh and mh at kul. quality and selection of foods, drinks, shower room, reading materials, etc at kul is inferior to lhr and hkg. however, mh/kul f lounge is better than qr ow/emerald lounge at doh.

Cool! Good to know!
Was flying mainly SQ previously.
Now starting to accumulate miles for OW and Emirates.
Is time to sample more OW flights and lounges.

The Private Room's food is actually pretty good, topped off with some nice Dom. It's just a bit too dated and snooty whereas the rest of the world seems to be taking a more modern contemporary approach.
*
Unfortunately there is no announcement regarding TPR renovation, yet.
It was supposed to start renovation from T3 Business, First, TPR and Gold since Aug 2019.
However during my visit last Nov, if my memory is correct, it was KF Gold undergoing renovation instead (I still remember when I pass by Business lounges, it was fully packed, just like pasar malam, probably can't even find a seat).
Till Feb before lockdown, there is still no report on TPR renovation.
Hopefully they had started by now, and by next year we can compare the new TPR.

QUOTE(msa9696 @ Jun 19 2020, 01:07 AM)
Have not been to so many lounges before just a few, but really hate TPR @ Changi. So many business class lounge far more superior than TPR, but of course being a first class food is generally better
*
Besides dated furnishing, the food and champagne are excellent in TPR.
I don't think many business class lounge can exceed the standard of TPR.
The only downside for TPR is without toilet in the bathroom...

Yes, you have to walk out to the First Class Lounge to use the showers/toilets there.

I did drop by First Class Lounge but they are the same (for T3)
