Has anybody here taken the flooring option of laminate flooring through the builder (Preferably Henley). I'd like to know how they have held up since you've taken possession of your house. Have they started lifting and so on.

I'm not a huge fan of them, but my wife is contemplating them, so I'm trying to get some info before canning the idea smile.gif

Thanks.

Is it true that laminate requires door hacking, due to thickness?

Well, it is not really "hacking". When the laminated floor panel is laid on the floor, the floor height increased by 6mm for example. So, the gap between door railing and existing floor will close up.

If you have just plain plywood door inside house like this

they just need to remove the thin railing at the bottom. Normally can be done using screw driver and a hammer. Probably 20 min job the most. If you have solid wood door, then need to cut with circular saw, but then the installer will do laugh.gif

If you go to the shop where you buy the flooring, they can recommend for you normally. The installer usually other 3rd party.

They are made of plastic chips mostly and yes you can put in water indefinitely. Some are just vinyl based.

Some are made with wood chips mixed with plastic resin. I think this one is more expensive.

In case of water, yes. Other than that I guess no difference. My kitchen use normal laminate, not waterproof. laugh.gif

if you are referring to SPC yes they are, i just done it for my new showroom as it is a live kitchen, could get wet and oily. Based on online research they are better and affordable, market rate RM 6.5 per sqft, on sale sometimes rm 6.

Do take note, skirtking, delivery and many other things not included, so when budgeting add another 10% to it

i find this video very informative and explain well between Laminate, Vinyl & SPC

Hi need some opinion from those who have installed laminated flooring before. The installation at my staircase and the whole of upper floor is completed just now. For staircases, I only chose to install it on the treat (where we step on). There is a noticeable gap between the end of the flooring with the staircase's riser. I highlighted this issue to the salesperson. He told me it's because my riser is not 90 degrees enough and their installer did cut the flooring in a straight line. He instead asked me to get people to touch up the riser by applying ASG and paint it over. Is this a normal practice when it comes to laminated flooring on staircase?
