Wakakaka, that's still very subjective. I've read up about INSEAD quite a bit, I just wonder what other people think about the importance of an MBA from a school like INSEAD and what sort of ROI you're going to get from it.

the worst performer got back his cost after 4 years... not too bad la... long term, totally worth it... got 2 insead guys in my coy, one not getting the ROI wanted the other cant be included in the states family business... i am going to leech to use insead's facilities... lol

Hello everyone, I am about to finish my ACCA by the end of this year and I am interested to do MBA in Finance or any relevant subjects (well yet to decide).

My question is, is there is any college/university which just can allow me to study at home and provide me with books and relevant stuff and later take exams? Or do I have to attend classes?

I wanna self study! And how much would it cost to self study and only take the exams (If possible)?
*
1. there's but those kind of mba, u might as well save ur $$$... those schools r just paper mills

2. self study? then u get the mba concept all wrong... studying n gaining knowledge is just 30% of a mba program... anyway, knowledge is now free with google... its d application of knowledge, sharing of ideas, career support, real life application that makes mba is popular

if u just want a piece of paper from dunno wat school.. save ur $$$, it might become a liability than an asset

Alright. Your point is that I should (must) study in a reputed university than studying inter-active!

Which university is worth studying in and which is economical too? Any ideas to share?

err, msia used to hv mba from manchester buss sc, but heard they stopped... next would be lancester, although their mba is highly rated, the school itself is not

nearest u hv to go sg... ntu, nus, smu

Normal lectures lo, group discussions, projects and presentations. Should be typical gua. Mix of individuals from different industries. Different approach for problems from each of them. Interactions is one of the main thing in MBA, distance learning you can't get this. Those theories and principles you can just read it from books. How each of the course mate applies them what you want to know.
Weekdays, 6 to 9pm, twice to thrice per week if you want to finish it in 2 years.

Silly article, going into expense without looking at ROI.

Better to look at INSEAD or NUS MBA salaries before and after their MBA and then decide whether or not these are truly expensive, or just a good investment.

Having said that though, I didn't realize the NUS b-school was that expensive when I last looked at it several years ago.
*
well, the article doesnt not want to address anything else but the cost... any ranking, evaluation or analysis wasnt the goal... just pure info compilation

Wakakaka. It's a "business" website and we're talking about MBAs and business schools. Must put some analysis and thinking into it lah, not just pure clickbait. biggrin.gif

My question is how many Malaysians are actually applying for these top b-schools today? When I was applying there were very very few Malaysians, are we not applying because of the cost (and also not looking at ROI) or are we just not good enough to be accepted?
*
if u r a follower of that site, u would know most articles are just pure info... d site is rather new... any thinking is also by copying n paste from somewhere else or by contributors

not many actually, 80% of my former team are from these schools, all non-msians... problem is 80% will say why pay so much when a rm20k pub/pvt school in msia can offer a similar paper... lol doh.gif so far only person that says she has one is fiona chin, 50% singkie already anyway

I briefly interacted with fiona on one of the other threads. I personally went to INSEAD, that's why I'm always promoting people to skip the cheap MBA and go for a good one if you can qualify. Note I say that if you can qualify, not if you can afford it. I find that most Malaysians are a bit too timid and not willing to invest in a top education. It's not the paper knowledge that counts obviously, the alumni network and career openings are the one you're aiming for.
*
well, went to insead, filled with foreigners... expected more singkies

timid? i would rather put it as lack of confidence and ppl to look up to... most msians dont aim high...

hahaha, that's why we need more ppl like you to share with us your experience

QUOTE(Blofeld @ Jul 9 2014, 01:12 PM)
If you want an affordable MBA within your means, you can go to UM if you are staying in KL.

At least Universiti of Malaya has a higher QS ranking compared to some of the MBAs offered by private colleges collaborating with their partner universities.

UM ranks better compared to University of Strathclyde, Heriot-Watt University, University of Wollongong (INTI), University of Sunderland (Segi), York St John University (Segi), Victoria University (Sunway). Some might think it's good just because they see a foreign name.  wink.gif

If you are willing to invest more on MBA, then go to the top schools as suggested by Alaskanbunny.

If you are looking for flexibility, then no choice but to look at the Open Universities
*
Strathclyde is much better than UM

QUOTE(Sudershan8 @ Jul 22 2014, 12:29 AM)
University of Malaya is a well respected local University (one that I personally graduated from).
But being the premier local University does not mean they are good in all programs.
I am not saying that the MBA being offered there is of a poor standard.
But confidently saying that is it better ranked compared to the other Universities that you have mentioned is not true.

The private colleges offering MBA programs in collaboration with partner universities do offer very comprehensive and structured MBA programs.

Again here I not saying they are all good, but the best way of finding this out is by
- Checking 'actual' international rankings on the subject matter which is being referred to.
- Attending the preview of the program and finding out first hand the details of the program.
- Requesting to sit in a preview class so that you have an actual feel of the program.
- Speaking to the current students and alumni on their thoughts about the program.

With that you will be able to assess with certainty which is the better program.
