MBA try to do with foreign/recognize institution. I'm working in Singapore as a fresh grad engineer with OnG company yet they don't know a single IPTA/IPTS univ in Malaysia except for University Malaya (UM). Normal case most colleague are from NUS/NTU

For conversation starters;

Colleague: Which univ did you pursue your undergrad studies?
Me: UPM/UKM/USM/UTP/UNITEN/MMU/SEGI/INTI/NILAI/APIIT/MSU for eg;
Colleague: Huh? Never heard of it before.
Me: bangwall.gif

I know you say that working experience is what matters, but your paper recognition determines your DOUGH oversea! But it depends on individual if you plan to rot in Malaysia then local IPTA should be fine, if oversea as per mentioned.
Just because you save on a few K's in your postgraduate studies, but you're restricting your employment growth globally.

Your biggest concern should be WHY are you doing a MBA in the first place and WHAT you hope to gain from it.

If you don't have proper answers to these 2 questions, your MBA will be a complete waste.

There is 2 ranking if u google.
Uni ranking and MBA ranking.

The MBA ranking usually associate with Finance or Business entity like FT, Forbes etc.

Pls refer to MBA ranking.

Cheers

Looks like the general consensus so far would be:

Number 1: Lancaster University MBA/Sunway University MBA; and

Number 2: University of Strathclyde MBA.

Monash. However, I note that there are minimal discussions about Monash University MBA. Overall Monash has the best recognition and ranking in the world (2016 overall rank: 73) though there are not ranked in the top 100 (Financial Times).

Should the branding and recognition of the university where your MBA is issued be given weight as well? As employers would be more aware of Monash than say, Lancaster or Strathclyde.

I visited Monash and the facilities and programs on offered seems to be pretty exceptional (proper campus, library etc.). One point about Monash is that the fees (RM66k) excludes books which you have to purchase on your own and also it is uncertain if the subjects are exam based or coursework based.

Strathclyde. Strathclyde (2016 overall rank: 400-500) meanwhile, would be the oldest foreign MBA offered here in partnership with CDC since 1999 with a proven track record and alumni network in Malaysia which Monash and Lancaster lacks as they are both pretty new and there are so far no graduates I believe.

One of the biggest drawback for me would be the place where the program is conducted. Unlike the other 2 (campus based), this is delivered in an office at Phileo Damansara without a proper library (I note that you have access to Strathclyde's online library) and it is pretty small and not that conducive IMHO.

Also the course is more theoretical in nature and not so case studies based.

Lancaster. I have not attended any Lancaster (2016 overall rank: 130) preview or visited their campus so I'm unable to comment on the facilities and program offered.

Above are my preliminary thoughts so far on the 3 programs on offered.

Thoughts?

Soon enough the best MBA program in Malaysia will be the Asia School of Business - MIT SLOAN Business School MBA.

Yes. Not cheap for sure. But then again, none of the top MBA programs are cheap either.

But most students in the first intake were given scholarships.

What no info?

First batch of students already signed up and ready to start.

They are very established. Pay them a visit and ull see how well set up they are.

Probably but many were from the big O&G companies as well.

Its very difficult to get in and they are very stringent in their acceptance criteria.
