QUOTE(truelife @ Dec 26 2012, 06:07 PM) Thinking of doing part-time MBA with UK university in Malaysia. MBA from which uni is better, Heriot-Watt University or The University of Nottingham? I'm eyeing at these same ones also. I think Nottingham is better in terms of the exposure that they offer based on the brochure i downloaded. Both are around RM50k + I heard that Manchester Business school is around 80k + but not sure whether it's still operating at Sunway. Anyone has any other suggestions for private uni's?

Strathclyde vs Nottingham, what do you think for MBA? I'm more interested in the benefits offered.
I heard Strathclyde is in a shop lot but they have 3 accreditation meanwhile Nottingham has 2.

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Jan 16 2013, 02:45 PM) If you are looking fee within this range, then consider Strathclyde. Sunway no longer offer Manchester. Understand it plan to offer Lancaster in 2014, fee expected to be around the same range. How if i were to compare Heriot Watt vs Nottingham vs Strathclyde? What are the pros and cons of these 3? QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Feb 5 2013, 10:22 AM) iinm, Nottingham intake for MBA is Feb & July each year (may be too late to get in Feb consider the paperwork and interview required); Strathclyde is Apr and Oct each year. Please double check with the university How about MBA in Taylors? I heard it's very flexible. Not too sure about the quality of the masters though.

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Feb 5 2013, 01:22 PM) UWE Bristrol MBA? I think it is accredited (AMBA). Cost is around RM50+k. Compared to Strathclyde (RM63k) which is FT 100, you make the call Btw, for Strathclyde, if you do part time, you could stretch it out to 6 years max (not that you should dilly dally so long ) Yup with Bristol. I think i need to visit Strathclyde already but the max i will do is 2 years. 6 years is OMG! Strathclyde is RM63k and Nottingham is Rm58k (based on their website). I think i will drop by both campuses before i decide.

I was thinking, is it worth to pay almost Rm60k for Strathclyde although it's only in a shoplot?
At least Heriot Watt and Nottingham have campuses.

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Feb 8 2013, 06:13 AM) At least you get to meet some Scottish from time to time I also understand that you could spend 2-3 weeks (if you opt to and pay) in Scotland to do a few electives. Anyway, once you get the cert, it is identical to as if you do it in Scotland So RM60+k for FT Top 100 name, not too bad But worth it or not actually depends on your ROI. Of course if you are near Singapore, you have a lot more choices I think Nottingham has the similar style, to opt to do some modules in UK at Malaysian rate. Hahaha, i have no doubt about the certificate and it's in the FT Top 100 list. It's just when i compare it with campus based uni's, i am a little hesitant due to the campus facilities for the same price. I'm in Subang, so Sg is a little far unless i do full time. I think i still need to do more research. Sometimes having too many choices is also hard.

QUOTE(OhNooy @ Nov 26 2013, 11:43 AM) Visited the World MBA Tour at Renaissance Hotel last week. Got to know that Strathclyde MBA actually does not have MQA certified despite having 3 accreditation. Course is about RM63k. On the other hand, Lancaster MBA (Sunway) is also having 3 accreditation but entry requirement seems tough with total course fee at RM88k. Is the accreditation of MBA is really what people look into? What are other reputable MBA around Malaysia to be recommended? So far from this thread I remember INSEAD, Cardiff, Nottingham. These are more frequent to appear. You could add Heriot Watt & Taylor's to your list though they don't have the 3 accreditations. Based on my research over the last few months, Strathclyde's selling point is being in FT Top 100 list for MBA. I'm quite surprised they are not MQA certified. Do you know whether the other universities you mentioned are MQA certified? Lancaster is also in the FT top 100 list now. This post has been edited by silverwave: Dec 8 2013, 02:43 PM

QUOTE(OhNooy @ Dec 8 2013, 04:20 PM) Yes Strathclyde is in FT Top 100 list of MBA and with triple accreditation. The only regret is that it is not MQA certified. Sunway-Lancaster is MQA certified BTW. However, the entry requirement is very strict, as compared to Strathclyde. I may look up for MBA offered by other universities as well, including UM and UPM (it could be tough to go in too, as my degree result is just 2nd lower). If i remember correctly UPM has AACSB accreditation. How strict is it? I wonder how many will enroll with that price range. My mum checked it for me a few weeks ago and the staff could not even tell when the MBA will commence.

QUOTE(OhNooy @ Dec 8 2013, 10:03 PM) First you will need at least C or B in your SPM English 1119 (Cambridge O Level or something like that). Else you need to sit for IELTS or TOEFL, and get the result that they can accept. Then you will need to have written test during your registration online, and after you have passed your written test, then you will be going for Skype or telephone interviews. After you have passed all these until this stage, you are only allowed to be paid RM88k of tuition fees to them. So by having RM100k cash in your account doesn't make you going into Sunway-Lancaster. If not mistaken UM MBA has AMBA accreditation. Well, the price is one thing, it's still hard to say if it's really worth the money since those who enroll now will be the first batch.
