I'm currently completing my final 2 ACCA papers. Was planning on doing MBA afterwards but not sure which is more prestigious to employers. I would like to do my MBA online or part-time and there are two options of either the Global MBA Online program by LSBF or the Oxford Brookes Global MBA program. And is it wiser to do MBA before gaining any work experience? I'm only 21 years old so I can still afford to spend time on furthering my studies. (I'm planning on joining one of the Big 4 once I'm done with my studies for my 3 years experience requirement.)

Doing a MBA before having working experience is a complete waste in my opinion. The MBA is not your usual Masters program. You need to first know if you actually need a MBA in the first place. Know your career path and understand where you are heading first before embarking on a MBA program. Many ppl I know with MBA's have not benefited from the MBA simply because they assumed that having a MBA would benefit them.

Whatever you do, do not embark on a certificate collecting drive. I know of many students who keep on collecting certs and assume that they will go far in their careers after. Education is important but in the corporate world, there are many other criteria / factors which determine your progression and education isn't always high up on that list.

And yes, many ACCA grads start off in the Big 4 for audit experience mostly but move on to other opportunities after 2-3 years. Life in the big 4 as an entry level graduate is far from rosy. Hope u are prepared for that.

If you read the posts above, its been clearly mentioned that the best MBA program in Malaysia currently is the Lancaster MBA offered in partnership with Sunway University.

Btw, in the search for educational excellence, one must be prepared to go the distance. Location should not be a selection criteria unless u're talking about a different state or country.

For the MIT - MISI Masters in Supply Chain Management part time program in Shah Alam for example, there are students who commute weekly by bus from Alor Setar just to attend classes and join assignment groups. There are also students who fly in from Indonesia on a weekly basis for the same reasons.

Yes its all part time. Strathclyde MBA is 2nd best currently in Malaysia (based on world rankings). But the downside is the availability of getting funding assistance since u cant make EPF deductions.

MBA is ideally suited to someone transitioning to a more senior management role in the near future. The Sunway University MBA dual award programme, in partnership with top ranked and triple accredited Lancaster University, is Malaysia's leading MBA. On Saturday 28 March I will be hosting a preview at 12:30pm in the Graduate Centre at Sunway University to answer all your questions. Visit www.sunway.edu.my/mba for details.

Kind regards

Prof Brian

How many times has this question been answered? doh.gif

The highest ranked MBA program in Malaysia currently is Lancaster MBA program which is conducted in collaboration with Sunway. Second best is Strathclyde.

Undoubtedly Sunway University is the stand out performer for business undergraduate studies. Sunway Uni has a higher number of PhD qualified staff, higher employability rates (2014 International Student brarometer) , and most degree programmes are partnered with Lancaster University. Lancaster University Management school is one of the UK's top business schools. In comparison Taylor's business school is partnered with lowly ranked University of West England.

U have not even gotten your degree but keep criticizing Sunway university?.. If Sunway University is not a good univeristy why are u even bother to comment asking about it? just a laughing stock commenting without doing ur research..
