Hi there,

So is the campus located at phileo Damansara?  Do you have open day?  and how much is the MBA or postgraduate in HRM?

I'm looking for a MBA that offers combination of study locally in Malaysia with a semester or two in the overseas campus, so I can study abroad but allow me to go for a 3-6 months' career break only.

thanks.
*
Hello, yes, the study centre is located at Phileo Damansara 1, PJ. We just had an open day earlier today. We'll be having another info day next week Thursday (7pm) & Saturday (11am) (20 & 22 November). Feel free to drop by if you're around.

At Strathclyde, the MBA is a general MBA, there's no specialisation in HRM. And yes, it is possible to study some semesters here in Malaysia and others in one of our international centres, including the University itself in UK.

Why don't you PM me your email address so I can send you more details.

Thanks

3 year ago....I was giving serious thoughts in pursuing my Executive MBA after my ex-company approved a partial Sponsorship agreement to finance my course fees. Afterwhich I was headhunted and 'bought' over by another company.

2 years on, I have managed to get the new company to potentially sponsor a MBA course as part of my development program. biggrin.gif

Have not been in touch with the MBA market for the last 2 years. The 2 MBA programs that I shortlisted 2 years ago were the MBS & Strathclyde MBAs. At that time the MBS program was circa RM100k+ whilst the Strathclyde program was hovering over sub RM80k.

How is the Executive MBA market in Malaysia now? Looking at part-time programs and ofcourse those that are well ranked and recognized.

Appreciate fruitful feedback.

Hello there,

You are more than welcomed to revisit Strathclyde MBA programme on either of the dates below:

29 January 2015, Thursday, 7pm
31 January 2015, Saturday, 11am

Strathclyde Executive MBA is known for its quality in teaching as well as the emphasis in Corporate Strategy (being ranked at 4th in the world for Corporate Strategy - FT Global MBA Ranking 2014). Of course it is also in the top 100 best MBA in the world (FT Global MBA Ranking 2014) & 1 of the only 66 business schools around the world that has triple accreditation.

Feel free to contact me if you need more info.

Thanks!

P/S: The fee has never past RM80k in Malaysia, maybe in the future wink.gif but if you're referring to the full time in UK, then probably.

I'm looking for MBA course offered by local or private uni college, provides opportunity to spend a semester or two at the HQ campus in UK.  does anyone know any uni?
*
Hi there

Strathclyde MBA does offer this. You may choose to study your elective subjects either in the University's main campus in UK, or any other international centres (there are 9 altogether).

Thanks

Hi, how long is the electives module if someone wants to do it at UK?
*
Hi there

Each elective subject takes a week of classes in UK, around 4-5hrs a day, Mon-Fri (3 days, Fri-Sun, in international centres: Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Greece, Switzerland, Hong Kong).

There are 2 elective subjects to be chosen and you may combine the option (doing 1 in UK, 1 in other centres, etc.)

Also, upon graduation, students are given privilege to choose 3 more elective subjects (maximum one per year, depending on availability) without any extra cost (except for air ticket & lodging of course)

Agreed with your comments on 2 fronts e.g the accredition of the business school and the fact that Lancaster has now overtaken Strathclyde on the rankings.

In regards ti the comment to Lancaster University MBA now overtaking Strathclyde in the rankings let me make a slight correction. The suite of Lancaster University MBAs have CONSISTENTLY outranked any other MBA you can access in Malaysia (i.e. including Strathclyde's MBA). Rankings do vary from year to year...with Lancaster being a clear winner this year. What is more important however is the long term. On every ranking I have seen Lancaster has over time out ranked Strathclyde on a 3 year rolling average basis. Indeed, the premier Financial times reports his in their rankings.

Visit www.sunway.edu.my/mba for more details to access this leading MBA programme.

Kind regards
Prof Brian

Hi Prof Brian

With all due respect, I'm certain the ranking you're referring to is the FT Global MBA Ranking 2015 which was recently announced, and yes, Lancaster has improved on the ranking this year (congratulations!). However I believe that this ranking refers to the university's full time programme in UK, and does not at all reflect the programme in Malaysia. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If we are really talking about the ranking to compare fairly it should be based on the FT Executive MBA Ranking (part time MBA) which is yet to be announced for 2015. As for 2014, Strathclyde is at 64, compared to Lancaster which was not listed (of course as the programme is newly introduced in MY).

Anyways, ranking can be very subjective, depending on the body and method it is conducted. It still comes down to the quality of the programme and the strength of the students/network. Strathclyde has been around for 26 years in MY, making us the oldest thriving MBA programme in MY.

Cheers!

Any similar verifications from the good people at CDC-Strathclyde?

Hi everyone!

Yes, agreed with what was written by Prof Brian from Sunway/Lancaster. Those are some of the important criteria one should check when planning for an MBA study.

For those who are new to this topic, let me introduce myself, I am Edahani and I am representing CDC Management on this forum, which is the study centre for Strathclyde MBA programme in Malaysia.

Certainly Strathclyde MBA do share the same criteria as stated - being ranked in the top 100 world best MBA by Financial Times, and most importantly, globally recognised with triple accreditations (AMBA, AACSB & EQUIS).

On top of the above, you might want to check on the following as well, which you can find in Strathclyde MBA programme:
1. Royal Charter university
2. Excellent in teaching quality rating
3. Leader in research rating (Strathclyde Business School is 3rd in UK on impact on the recent Research Assessment Exercise)
4. A range of academics of international reputation who also teach
5. Taught face-to-face by the same academics who teach at home (UK campus) - please note at Strathclyde, there's no local/adjunct lecturers, we fly ALL lecturers in from UK. Not many foreign MBA in Malaysia does this.
6. An integrated & intellectually rigorous but practical programme - the programme uses mostly real case studies which are applicable in actual work scenarios.
7. The same entry criteria/assessment as the full time programme in UK
8. The same quality/content & degree as the full time programme in UK. - you will get the same award received by full time students in UK with the option to graduate both in UK & Malaysia. Transcripts are also issued directly by Strathclyde UK.
9. Flexibility - able to tailor the programme to your schedule. You have 2 to 6 years to complete your MBA, at no extra cost!
10. Last but not least, Strathclyde MBA has been in Malaysia for 26 years now, making us the longest thriving MBA you can find in Malaysia.

Feel free to pay us a visit if you have more questions.

Cheers & Gong Xi Fa Cai to all!
