Um and UPm MBa is quite decent with the price.
The turn off is they should conduct the class in the weekend instead of evening 6.30pm. It is hard for working adult to turn up on time for class at 6.30pm. Many of us work 12 hours a day, right? Thus, I have to choose UUM MBA, though UTM is another option |

QUOTE(deadalus @ Dec 18 2009, 03:26 PM) i am taking the MBA from UM @ Dec intake and just share with you some of the information i gather through the orientation conducted on 17/12. May I know what concentration/Major UM/UPM offer?- UM started to offer MBA in the 1980's - Currently having 70+ full time lecturer, of which 40+ having a Doctorate Degree with an average of 12 years industrial working experience. - Each year, there will be 8 ~ 10 visiting lecturer from foreign institution - According to the dean of graduate study, they are committed to improve the ranking of UM and intends to further upgrade the quality of their courses. Prior to taking up the UM MBA, i have compared UM UPM & Segi-USQ and here are some of my findings: UPM - Their MBA offer in 6 Concentration/Major and require to take up a total of 14 courses (10 core, 4 elective) & 1 Thesis (6 credit hour) which sum up to a total of 48 credit hour. Course structure are very similar to UM but with less choice on the field of concentration. - Admission: CGPA min 2.75, no working experience required - Conducting in both Day & Evening Class - Fee = RM 26k UM - UM's MBA offer in 11 Concentration/Major and require to take up a total of 15 courses (10 core, 5 elective) & 1 Thesis (6 credit hour) which sum up to a total of 51 credit hour. Course structure are very similar to UPM but with more option on the field of concentration. (Quite heavy - The assessment is basing on 60% coursework + 40% final exam (alamak - Thesis assessment 70% project paper + 30% presentation. - Admission: CGPA min 3.00, min 3 years working experience required - Conducting in both Day & Evening Class - Fee = RM 19k - Exchange program with NUS (Singapore), France, Germany, Uni.Melbourne, Australia National University, Denmark, Japan, Peru. You may opt to complete your remaining credit hour in one of the foreign institution. Segi-USQ - Offer in 12 Concentration/Major and require to take up a total of 12 courses (8 core, 4 elective), no thesis required. which sum up to a total of 36 credit hour. The program is based on a combination of coursework + exam - Admission: Degree, 2 years working experience required - Conducting in both Day & weekend Class - Fee = RM 30k ++ (According to post #1016) - Exchange program with USQ. Maybe those taking MBA in Segi & UPM can provide more information on their respective courses. Are they offering concentration/major in Supply Chain Management or Operation Management? |

QUOTE(Mayomythical @ Oct 29 2009, 10:44 AM) TS: I've passed CFA Levels I & II, and I can personally say it's not too difficult if you do the studying, but only if you've done some finance work. If not, it may be greek to you at first, but you can pick it up as you go along. Don't know about Level III, planning to take next year Does that mean if we're currently in a different field, with basic degree in science, it will be very difficult?tan8: I think you can, but to be a CFA charterholder, you need four years professional experience in a relevant field (banking, finance etc), IIRC. |

QUOTE(Auwen @ Jan 3 2010, 08:59 PM) erm...i just finish my degree programme....thinking to take some MBA... Suggestion is, work for few years and gain some experience before pursuing MBA. With few years of working experience, you could understand more about yourselves (weaknesses and strengths), and only you reconsider if you want to go for MBA.but most of MBA require ages....my age has below the requirement...any suggestion sch. ...?? Even if you have decided for MBA, with the few years of working experience, you will understand and digest the course better. |

Saw that UUM KL has added a few MBA specializations eg. Technology Management & Project Management.
http://uumkl.uum.edu.my/index.php?option=c...d=72&Itemid=167 Subjects offered are also seemed to be more practical to the related fields ie. technology, finance, hr etc. |

But I know LKW's got common problems other campuses have... So, if you want to go for private institution, check out the facilities, lecturers' quality is no longer under your considerations 'cos how much you learn still depend on you yourselves. Checked out with HELPs and I... really sweat of their coordination management. They said the schedule will always fluctuate from time to time, depend on lectures' availability. I asked them how often this can happen, he is not sure...I think.... I really sweat lah...... |
