One-third of meals given to Australian troops to be halal-certified - despite the fact there are only 100 Muslims serving in the Defence Force

QUOTE
Combat ration packs currently used by the ADF are not prepared to halal or kosher specifications. Items included come from a wide range of suppliers, some of which are halal or kosher certified manufacturers.

'It is important our combat ration pack menus cater for a variety of tastes, including the food, social and religious preferences of ADF members, now and into the future. Thirty days eating the same meal is demoralising; I know,' he said.

Not a big fan. Sure Gatlings can spew hot lead like nobody's business, but it eats ammunition like hell and needs an external power source to operate. Hope those AV4s have tons of extra ammo unless you want to shoot those Gatlings for a grand total of 5 seconds. laugh.gif

Seriously, the army some how have a soft spot for the minigun and have previously test mount it on everything including the adnan

Not to mention the heli as well

There even plan to mount it on fast attack boat for sabah waters.

So you see if they have the money.. malaysia will mount thr minigun everywhere hahaha

why is it with such formidable power they still cant defense themsleve against the NK?

i kept on reading that SK will only be able to fight back with US help, and that also after NK steamroller it's way all the way till seoul first!

Look at a map of Korea, Seoul is quite near to the NK border. Definitely within range of missile artillery, especially if Kaesong is turned into a military camp like NK threaten. SK should invest in Iron Dome type defence and C-RAM IMHO.

Seoul is only 30+ miles from border. Any Tom, Dick and Harry would like to spam Seoul with rocket and tube artillery. And don't forget NK's SF is much larger than Malaysia's standing Army.

but with SK tech and their equally large mobile infantry, surely hard to penetrate even tho only 30+ miles right

nukes and artie should be easy for SK to neutralized given the fact that NK af wouldnt stand chance when SK sent in the birds, unless the ruskie have been giving away their S400! haha

If vehicle is disabled at least crew can detach mounted machinegun and lug it around with reasonable effort. 1 guy (or even 2 in case of M2HB) carry the gun and others carry the ammo.

While you can detach a minigun to use it on foot, but it will be too much hassle (battery, weight, tons of extra ammo etc etc) to be much effective.

.50 M2HB will be extreme case la, running at nearly 40kg. But lighter, smaller caliber MG like M240 or M60 is much more applicable in this situation.

SINGAPORE: Bell sells first 429s to Indonesian police

17 FEBRUARY, 2016 BY: DOMINIC PERRY SINGAPORE

Bell Helicopter has secured a number of firsts at the Singapore show, including the sale of a pair of twin-engined 429s to the Indonesian police.

It marks the start of a fleet renewal process for the country’s law enforcement service, which will require new helicopters for each of its 32 provinces to replace a fleet of aged MBB Bo-105s.

Patrick Moulay, vice-president global sales and marketing, says: “It is a big endorsement for Bell that they have chosen the 429 to kick-off the replacement process.”

There is no guarantee that the 429 will be chosen for the entire requirement, however, with a “step-by-step” acquisition process, conducted as and when budget becomes available. Delivery of the first two helicopters is scheduled for October.

Elsewhere in the region, Bell has also secured a first sale of its developmental 505 light single in the Philippines, with an order for a single example placed by PhilJets. In addition Simrik Air is to acquire the first 407GXP in Nepal.
