US dumping old APCs at the Philippines. These M113 APCs are so old and outdated their aluminium armor can't even resist 7.62mm rounds.
It good enough for basic handgun protection which is rampant is PH
Plus, there always the hillbilly sandbag armor againts 7.62 rounds or bar armor for basic RPG protection. If more is needed, there spaced armor, all of which does not need very deep speciality to make
Not to mention our acv-300 Adnan not say can really hold up againts rpg attack unless additional bar armor
The problem is the government bussy scrapping money to pay 1mbddebts Where got money but jets
Depending who willing to offer the best deal.
Not to mention, any deal tat goes through most likely they will stop the 1mdb investigation. Either the europe or us, once the deal is striked, this matter will just sweep under carpet
But but those MIG21...ooopss... J17 cheap cheap wor
For Strategic assets, the arm forces will prefer item from diff origin apart from who we might go against as well what restrictions might be imposed.
Same like the case of support ship, if we are getting the type 71, the rmn make it clear tat they will take the hull only with engine from mtu most likely and electronic and weapon system from else where apart from china. If and only if lah scenario
We bought our RPG-7, ATGM, Manpads, even MP-5 and MG-3 parts from Pakistan
Those items was bought in urgent and most are surplus paki stocks
It was mahathir time when the deal was struck. If can, we would prefer russian origin instead of paki copies. Then again, time was urgent plus paki was cheaper as it was their surplus.
Why the urgency, let just say it have to deal with china. Why paki? Because we have good relationship with them as follow muslim country and the best weapon to use against aggressor is with their own weapon.
I don't think so. It's true thst we bought pakistan-made weapon due to both being major muslim countries, but that doesn't means we bought surplus stock from them.
Besides, some of these equipment has their own merit. Pakistan RPG-7v, for example, uses plastics instead of wood/Bakelite(which means it's lighter), while the optical system uses 2-AA battery instead russian battteries like the one used in PSO-1 scope.
Being cheap compared to equivalent systems is a major point as well.
Take it with a pinch of salt. Btw paki launcher which we bought still have the wooden grip. Later variant was only plastic
Check a few photo and you still can see the brown portion on the launcher
How u think we can get that much in less than a year. Even russian production is not tat fast
tat distance.. any towed 155 even 105 can hit the target in direct fire mode
go 1km and beyond, only say
though it would be nice, if could fullfill our spg requirement but a 152mm vs 155mm will make logistic a nightmare. Though, the spec-sheet, there option for a 155mm gun if it for export customer
Yup, those rep from Russian say malaysia is d first customer to buy it. If we really brought container klub I doubt we are going to show it though. Mainly we need not to be marked.
Just need to be transport it normally. Especially good for coastal defencd senario
I'm still convinced its written somewhere on some convention that military weapons need to be marked as such and are prohibited to be disguised as civilian stuff.
Easier to say than done. Massive contract tied them down. at best reduce order on current batch.
It doom from the start
Trying to fit three services with a same frame is ridiculous. It like asking a range rover to run on petrol and also diesel while maintaining efficiency of a diesal engine when using petrol. Confusing and cant find it actual role.
based on the fume extractor position and design, definitely not the M1 or the leopard 2. Both western does not fire ATGM from its barrel except russian
