Why would you want to buy military rations? They generally taste bad and not very appetizing. If you want to build some kind of emergency rations or go on a hike, it's better to mix and match your own custom rations from commercial food items. There's a lot of cheap canned or packed foods that are better tasting in Tesco or Giant and you can choose what kind and how much food you want to pack. Just put them in plastic bags and use a heat sealer to make them waterproof.

Personally I hate military rations. If in some emergency situation I guess it's ok, but I'd normally stay away from the stuff.  laugh.gif

I find hardtack more edible when they are put into hot drinks like Milo or coffee and they turn into a kind of porridge. If not you can literally pop a tooth eating them in biscuit form. laugh.gif

They were heading straight to Padang Tembak for test and evaluation after LIMA.

You could simply make them yourself. The ingredients are pretty basic and it's not that hard to prepare if you have an oven.

4-5 cups of flour

2 cups of water

2 tablespoon of margarine

3 tsp. of salt

Mix the ingredients together, and make sure the mixture is fairly dry. Then roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness, and shape it into a rectangle. Cut it into 3×3 inch squares, and poke holes in both sides. Place on an un-greased cookie or baking sheet, and cook for 30 minutes per side at 375˚ (or 350˚ if you have a convection oven).

When they're done, just put them out in the sun & let them dry and harden for a few days. When it has the consistency of a brick, then they're ready. Then simply store in an airtight container or bucket. Should last about a year, plus no added preservatives!

INTERNATIONAL MILITARY REVIEW – SYRIA, DEC. 9, 2015

On Dec.9, Russia for the first time hit ISIS targets in Syria with cruise missiles launched from a submarine in the Mediterranean Sea. The 3M-54 Kalibr missiles were launched from the Kilo-class diesel-electric submarine “Rostov-on-Don”. According to the Russian Defense Minister, the missiles targeted the terrorists’ ammunition warehouses, mine production plant and the oil infrastructure in the territory of Raqqa.

In the past three days, the Russian Air Forces have carried out over 300 sorties hitting 600 terrorist targets. All sorties were performed with the backing of Su-30 fighter jets.

The pro-government sources argue that tens of terrorists were killed in clashes between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the militant groups along the Damscus-Homs highway on Tuesday. Thus, the Syrian forces expanded its control on the Eastern side of the Damascus-Homs highway in Harasta.

On Tuesday, the SAA, Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Harakat Al-Nujaba launched an offensive on the towns of Al-Zorba and Barqoum clashing against Al-Nusra, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Islam. The clashes are continuing in the both towns. If the Syrian forces capture Al-Zorba, they will be able to cutoff the militants’ supply route from Idlib to Aleppo. This operation is a part of the largest offensive of the Syrian forces which is aimed to secure the whole Aleppo-Damascus highway.

Since the start of the Russian military operations in Syria, the pro-government forces have been incrementally advancing in directions of the main strategic areas which allow to control crucial parts of the Syrian logistical infrastructure. It allows the Syrian forces to take advantage on terrorists in the manoeuvre capability while the loyalists already have advantage in the fire power, intelligence and coordination.

Risky Move: US Attack Helicopters May Battle Daesh in Ramadi

user posted image

QUOTE
United States is prepared to assist the Iraqi Army with additional unique capabilities to help them finish the job, including attack helicopters and accompanying advisers, if circumstances dictate and if requested by Prime Minister Abadi," US Defense Secretary Ash Carter said before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Wednesday.

According to an American military advisor speaking on condition of anonymity to the New York Times, the helicopter offer has already been offered to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, though, even if accepted, a delivery would not be made until the army is ready to make a concrete push to retake Ramadi.

Media: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Jordan may send 90,000 military to fight IS

user posted image

QUOTE
BEIRUT, December 10. /TASS/. Around 100,000 foreign military, including 90,000 from Arab countries, may be deployed to Iraq to fight against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization, Iraq Press Agency quoted politician Hanan Al Faltawi as saying.

Al Fatlawi said that she received this information from reliable sources after talks between US Senator John McCain and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. The meeting took place on November 27 in the joint American-Iraqi operational headquarters in Baghdad that coordinates military actions against IS, she added.

"Foreign forces of 100,000 - 90,000 from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Jordan and 10,000 from the United States - will be stationed in Iraq’s western parts," Al Fatlawi noted. The politician added that "the Iraqi prime minister openly expressed bewilderment over McCain’s statement but was told that everything had already been decided."

What really scares ISIS? GIRLS! Jihadists believe that if they are killed by a woman they won’t go to heaven, claim Kurdish fighters

QUOTE
jihadi fighters are 'afraid of girls' and fear facing female soldiers, a militia commander in the Kurdish women's unit has said.

The terrorist soldiers believe being killed by a woman will prevent them from going to heaven, according to all-female Kurdish frontline troops.

The Women's Protection Unit (YPJ) is an all-female branch of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), who fight ISIS in the Kurdish areas of Iraq and Syria.

They believe if someone from Daesh [ISIS] is killed by a girl, a Kurdish girl, they won't go to heaven. They're afraid of girls.'

One of the fighters in Tehelden's units, 20-year-old Efelin, even laughed when asked if ISIS had tried to attack Al-Houl again. 'If they do, we won't leave one of them alive.'

Tehelden, Efelin and their sisters in arms are stationed in Al-Houl, about an hour's drive to the south of Al-Hassakeh in north-east Syria.

This Navy Ship Looks Like It Is Sailing Through Interstellar Clouds

user posted image

QUOTE
A spaceship navigates interstellar cosmic dust and plasma clouds in the photograph above— or rather, a U.S. Navy ship sails the sea under a starry sky. It was taken on December 7, and the spacey effects are due to the weather not being clear.

You’re looking at the aft section of the dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry–a member of Boxer Amphibious Ready Group– as it prepares for night time flight operations off the coast of Southern California.

Why the Blue Angels Don't Want the Navy's New Planes

user posted image

QUOTE
"While the Super Hornet has more recent technology, the Hornet is more suitable to the needs of the current team due to its light weight and slick maneuverability."

The original Hornet weighs 23,000 pounds empty; the Super Hornet weighs 7,000 pounds more.

The switch to Super Hornets will also be expensive. The Super Hornet costs $60.9 million per plane, making replacing the oldest planes an $852 million dollar enterprise. That's the equivalent of at least eight F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, which are needed to replace older Hornets serving on aircraft carriers worldwide.

ISIS Recaptures Maheen After Launching a Massive Counter-Offensive

user posted image

On Wednesday morning in the Homs Governorate’s eastern countryside, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a large-scale counter-offensive at the village of Maheen in order to recover several points lost to the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and their allies over the last three weeks.

ISIS began their assault at the Quraytayn-Maheen checkpoint, where they confronted a large contingent from the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Sadad; this firefight resulted in the terrorist group taking control of the checkpoint and the corresponding hill that overlooks the ancient Syriac Christian city of Quraytayn.

Following the capture of the Quraytayn-Maheen checkpoint, the ISIS forces would seize two more hilltops along the Maheen-Quraytayn Road after a fierce battle with the National Defense Forces and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.

As a result of these gains, ISIS was able to reenter Maheen and retake the town after a violent battle with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and the National Defense Forces.

The Syriac Christian city of Sadad is once again threatened by ISIS after they captured the neighboring town of Maheen.

Recently, Syrian Arab Army’s 120th Brigade of the 2nd Division and the Assyrian “Gozarto Protection Forces” (GPF) left the Maheen-Quraytayn front to return to their posts – the departure of these troops has paved the way for ISIS to counter.
