how easy to maintain Mach Money box?

if inactive >6mths, any reactivation/penalty fee? i didnt see any reactivation fee in t&c though. i see there's a reactivation button (pre-active) in HL Connect.

for money box feature, which one do u choose? 15 free ibg (rebate) with minimum average monthly balance of RM1,000? or Sky High Savings?
*
The 6 mths must have activity is tighter than most banks 12 mth for SA. Not sure you read what I have mentioned when Top Flo asked about re-activation of her MACH acct.

I was lucky that after I clicked the reactivation online, then xfer'ed new fund, their CS called me. But Top Flo ended up has to visit the MACH branch to re-activate her acct. No reactivation fee involved.

I never used any of the features of Moneybox. Only one that I used is the placement of an FD last week after 6pm. So it is convenient in a way. biggrin.gif

Similiarly, I have 1 HSBC FD reccuring every 3-months @ 3.15% p.a, but if i uplift it, my pledged credit card will be cancelled, and the 9k points indide will get burnt  sad.gif
*
Oh, oh, you did not pledge using the one Mach FD ? hmm.gif tongue.gif

I once used CB FD to pledge for OD. Then I realized that I just got the board rate for years and lose out on the interest. Something like RMx00 per year. Also hardly using the OD. So cancelled the OD and moved the FD out to get the promo rates in other banks. biggrin.gif

Citi bank has started to move down the FD rate. Effective 22 Jan, 12 months is 2.75. 1 and 2 months 2.95%. The general trend will be lower interest rate. Most likely BNM will exercise the monetary policy reducing interest rate either in Q1 or Q2 to boost economic activity. Oil price has dropped below 40 and this year GDP is forecasted downwards too. Ringgit is expected to move towards 4.5. The current Higher interest rate promo by HL and others do not reflect the medium and long term interest trend
*
CB very daring in reducing the FD rates ! But anyway they are not looking so much into FD's. I have been their loyal customer for years. They are even increasing the AUM for Citigold to 350k !

I agreed with what you said. The way it goes, other than, HL/MACH, UOB, RHB having relatively high FD promo at 4.5/4.4; other banks promo are reducing. So I intend to grab UOB and maybe RHB's FD promo ASAP. Before they goes away ! biggrin.gif

Also thinking about BR's 2 years 4.45% that was mentioned by one forummer. If other promo's goes away. biggrin.gif

Yup, that's why banks reluctant to offer high rate on long tenure one.

6 month 4.5%, 12 months 4.2, 4.3, 4.4% tell the story already.
*
Yes ! I think it is good to grab longer term tenure like RHB's 15 mth 4.4% or UOB's 12 mth 4.4% before they goes away ! smile.gif

Just came to mind, to commit another self contribution to EPF next week ! thumbup.gif

Getting higher returns than from FD. biggrin.gif

Then either RHB, UOB 4.4%, but unsure yet which one of them. smile.gif

I m at OCBC now for FD upliftment. Using Rentas will cost RM5. Was instructing RM to transfer over using Rentas, then later decided to stop it and use Bank Draft instead  as it is free.  Will be placing it at HLB for 6 months FD.
*
Oh, so confirmed that OCBC BC is free ? rclxms.gif

You guys have long discussion on using of cheque. biggrin.gif I use combination of cheque, ibg, IBFT, Rentas depending on the situation. Rentas fee is typically higher than BC. But it has the use when not all the fund will go into next FD. i.e. half to FD, half stay in the acct for other use.

Anyway I think we use what suits us most. Just like we place FD in particular banks not necessary because it has the highest rate. biggrin.gif

Anyone noticed that the online banking log-in using HLB Connect is not as stringent as OCBC online banking?

For OCBC, after you enter your username & password, they will SMS you that TAC code for confirmation. As for HLB Connect, you just need the username & password only.
*
QUOTE(intrepidity85 @ Jan 15 2016, 09:02 AM)
ocbc password u simply abcde1 also can.. but HLB password u have to enter big capital letter & normal wording & symbol..

*
I found HSBC online log in to be the most troublesome. It has 2 layers of log on. Using password (for some login features only) and using security device (which generate random password/digits). For some transaction, you are asked to press the security device again.

BSN 12 mth 4.5% looks good. Have no experience with them but have heard some problems. How is their system and service level ?

Saw their promo:

So confirmed OCBC extended the FD offer till end April. But bad news for those waiting for FD promo to go beyond 4.5% for 1 year. Looks like OCBC is confident with the offer and extended it to end April for 15 mth 4.3%. UOB's 4.4% will end this January.

Hesitating on UOB, RHB and now with BSN coming into play. Planning for next week's action ! biggrin.gif

Asking Mr Lim, have you decided yet for the million eggs on 11/2 ?? hmm.gif tongue.gif

I believe the quality of their service varies from branch to branch.

Have tried BSN service long ago. Bought their saving certificates long ago. Service wise just like CIMB, slow and bureacratic but they may have improved.

Have also bought their saving certificate. That is the one that they offer monthly draws, right ? Dream of getting their big prizes never came, did get RM200 draw prize after years. tongue.gif

Agreed. Last time they have comparable rate with other banks, but I stayed away from them. This time they looked like the best deal for 1 year. Have enough eggs in HL already (still admire the 1 cert of some big boss here tongue.gif ). So considering BSN, UOB and RHB for next week's actions ! biggrin.gif

For the branch I went to last time, the service was surprisingly good. Much faster than CIMB or MBB even when there were many people there. But of course not as efficient as PBB.
*
Thanks !

So it looks like another people related type of thing. Some branch may have better service than others. biggrin.gif

Thanks !

Ya, I bought the saving cert from Mcalister Rd. It is big but not impressed with the speed of service. Will check out the Sg Nibong one. I think it is next to Ayamas branch ? smile.gif

Called to BR ABM on my FD that is maturing on Thursday. Asked for 1 year 4.65%, he said will check with KL and let me know by tomorrow.

So looks like even matured FD can still ask for a higher rate, for a relatively large fund size. Not so much interested on the 2 years 4.55%.

Lets see by tomorrow. biggrin.gif

I called to HL branch service manager, she told me did not receive email on this yet. But she seemed to warn that may be full (reach target) soon.

Have been considering HL, BSN as my next target. Though if BR can give me the rate I asked, then stay put there. biggrin.gif

1 year 4.65% sounds good.
will be better if interest credited monthly too.
do share ya.
and pls ask on behalf what's the minimum "relatively large fund size" amount criteria.
thanks.
*
6 figure sum. But not 7 figure like one big boss shown. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Minimum fund for BR for nego rate is 50k, 100k, depending on their need for fund. Then the higher the amt the better your chances of getting better nego rate.

I may not get the rate I asked as currently 2 years 4.55% is their promo. But lets see tomorrow. biggrin.gif

can the 6 figure sum be split into multiple 5 digit sums cert?

there's one Br near my work place and i'm tempted to try if the deal is good.

and the 6 digit sum, if the opening digit is a paltry 1, still acceptable kah? or need a minimum 2 to entice them?

The cert can split for the FD sum. See my below reply which I edited before your post:
