Random sharing Hidemi Sugino peekture, probably Tokyo's most achieved dessert / cake / pastry chef (past winner of Paris' Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie). His shop opens at 11am. We arrived at 10.40am already got 20+ ppl in the queue. Wait wait wait end up around 12.15pm then only managed to take our seats, dafug. Apologies for the slightly crappy angles, etc though -- his shop don't allow photographs so we have to curi curi snap ..

When you survey, most blog, etc will ask you eat soup curry. To me, soup curry is one of the most overrated food in Hokkaido, so I would definitely try everything else first and then soup curry only if got leftover makan slot. QUOTE(ukiya @ Feb 16 2016, 11:48 PM) I stayed in Susukino, Sapporo. Do you think I can manage in time to reach CTS Airport and check in baggage in the next morning to catch my AirAsia flight back to KL at 9:20AM? CTS so near Sapporo of course no problem lar. You can reach CTS at 7.09am. For details go check hyperdia (go to route result page and click 'interval timetable' to find out earliest train schedules). |

QUOTE(eehtsitna @ Feb 17 2016, 10:05 AM) Just wondering what is the best option available for me if i want to fly from Sabah to Tokyo? Making plan for a family trip at the moment. What is "best?" Cheapest? Shortest flight time? Most comfortable? Off hand, three options: Malaysia Airlines KK-KL-Tokyo, or Asiana KK-Seoul-Tokyo. Or AirAsia. |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Feb 21 2016, 04:06 PM) Hope this is not implemented too soon. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2016/02/1...s/#.VsbNZ3R953k It's starting to get implemented liao, sort of - supposedly the Ota ward already officially adopted the guidelines. It's anyone's guess how soon the other wards follow suit (if at all). Anyway FWIW some people are reporting their AirBnB booking kana cancelled: https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/commen...one_cancelling/ If wanna be totally safe possibly can go booking.com or agoda and book a fully refundable business hotel. Then a week or so before flying, double check with airbnb host, if OK then cancel the hotel booking. |

TSOM I guess in Tokyo (at least) nowadays it's not as bad as what daikor RC describe ba. My experience is closer to what sacwoc described. Restaurants in malls, ¥4k use credit card they also Ok.
But outside of Tokyo then I dunno. Certainly in Nozawa Onsen credit card hardly accepted (I even had to pay for my hotel / inn with cash - ¥42k for 3 nights). |

Human Nature no experience specifically with toyoko, but I guess in general most hotels will allow you to store luggage before check in or after check out.

QUOTE(RegentCid @ Mar 2 2016, 06:09 PM) Never go KL Jogoya. haha you should go at least once mah. when it first opened I that time noobie and inexperienced, tot it is super good. after a while and with more exposure to proper food then realize liao how crap it actually is. Anyway to be on topic, just sharing some dessert / cake / pastry hopping in Tokyo. full story here (blogwh0re alert!!!!) http://look-see-eat.blogspot.sg/2016/02/fo...afes-tokyo.html Pierre Herme chocolate bar. As the name suggests, this outlet concentrates on different types of chocolates and chocolate based desserts (but also, got a good assortment of cakes, macarons, etc). about ¥2k/person ![]() Sadaharu Aoki. This chef is known for Mille feuille and eclairs using Japanese ingredients. Pictured below his cake degustation (only available if you eat in the cafe). about ¥1.5k ![]() Hidemi Sugino. This chef famous cos he go Paris and win pastry competition. His cakes I think concentrate a lot on mousse cake. This one need the most planning cos I go at 10.30am and only got a seat after 12pm. ¥1.5k. ![]() Echire. This one is more of a bakery actually - but all using supposedly the world most famous butter. Most annoying part is this shop no seating. So bopian have to tapau and eat at the public park area nearby ![]() This post has been edited by deodorant: Mar 2 2016, 06:54 PM |

mt24 the unreserved seat fare is ¥670+¥860 (just FYI, you need to click the drop down on hyperdia and select 'unreserved seat'). Still a significant cost difference.

AlienDex Hokkaido is not a city, it's a huge area
A one way trip from Sapporo - Hakodate - Tokyo I think is around ¥27k+ so that alone makes the Pass worth it liao (money wise). But consider also that flights to Tokyo on budget airline can be around ¥10k or less. And consider also that Sapporo - Hakodate is 3hrs+, Hakodate to Tokyo is 4hr+ by train. |
