cloudwan0 Johnwoo78 I would exercise a lot of caution here. Cos the car doesn't seem like the normal rental from existing car companies, it's "comes with Airbnb rental." Worst case scenario it's just the Airbnb owner punya private car, then anything happens who is going to issue the required documentation for u to claim from travel insurance?

eric84cool if you're staying at a hotel, the conceirge should be able to arrange takkyubin or other forwarding service for you. If no then look for black cat sticker at nearby convenience stores. QUOTE(10&Counting @ Jun 30 2016, 03:21 PM) What's the best area in Japan for autumn colours? Kyoto in October or elsewhere. Thank you! If October then go Hokkaido (note though that the upper reaches of the daisetsuzan mountains already snowing at this time). http://look-see-eat.blogspot.sg/2015/11/ho...rket-ramen.html QUOTE(angel82 @ Jul 4 2016, 02:38 PM) Quick question. Plan to go Furano/Biei in Hokkaido. Can these 2 places visit within 1 day? Plan to visit farm tomita and blue pond. If drive then Furano, Blue Pond, and the hills & trees around Biei are totally doable in one day. If public transport then I dunno, didn't really recall seeing many buses around the areas (lots of them are not near train stations). http://look-see-eat.blogspot.sg/2015/11/ho...nkyo-onsen.html

platingirl gmaps driving duration in Hokkaido a bit underestimated one. Just one comment from me. Other than the expressway, roads are typically very low speed limits (40-60km/h).

hazzly1 depends on your own individual cold tolerance of course. But for what you described ie 10-20deg, I won't even bother with heattech/base layers. T shirts (maybe long sleeve) plus a casual jacket is enough to keep me warm.

QUOTE(melk89 @ Aug 8 2016, 11:12 PM) Hi, i will be going to japan this september and i have question regarding withdrawing cash in japan. Which one is better? Withdraw money from japan or exchange all the money in msia? Kindly advice! Thank you. Exchange all in Malaysia gives you better rate (typically). But if you scared to carry too much yen then change some in Malaysia and withdraw the rest once you get to Japan ba.

QUOTE(tryifelsecatch @ Aug 18 2016, 10:00 AM) do you think it's worth to spend a night in ryokan for 1st time japan visit? 1. Does it seem like something you and your wife would enjoy? 2. Can you afford it? If your answer is yes and yes then go stay ryokan lo. If your answer is yes and no ... you can compromise and stay in a budget Japanese style room (won't have fancy onsens and in-room Kaiseki. But u get what you pay for). QUOTE(SnoopyDevil @ Aug 18 2016, 03:27 PM) Chitose -> Noboribetsu(1n) -> Lake Toya(1n) -> Hakodate(1n) -> Otaru(1n) -> Sapporo(3n) -> Chitose 3-4 days in Sapporo a bit long. Maybe add another destination - Furano/Biei, Jozankei/Hoheikyo, Niseko also could be good. or Asahikawa/Sounkyou Onsen to head up the ropeways to the mountains. Depends on what you like and what season you're going.

QUOTE(Frostlord @ Aug 23 2016, 07:53 PM) which location is best for couple? Honestly ... it doesn't really matter that much. I stay in ikebukuro, minato (near tsukiji), misakicho (near tokyo dome) and shinjuku before, and in none of those locations did I ever think "oh man I wish I stayed somewhere else." Having said that ... I guess any of the major areas around the yamanote line will be good (ikebukuro, shinjuku, shibuya, ueno, etc) since you can hit a lot of the major attractions using this line.

SnoopyDevil a side note on grand park Otaru, when I stayed there last year the room was super smelly (smoke). Had to leave the windows open in order not to suffocate at night. I don't know if they offer non smoking rooms, but something for you to consider if they don't.
For Hakodate, Hakodate grand is a very tired and dated hotel. Also, red brick warehouse area and the cable car to mt Hakodate area are walkable. Asaichi morning market is barely just walkable (25-30mins?), fort goryukaku need to take tram. When I went I visited the morning market twice: once at night specifically for uni don, and the next morning again for more 'normal' kaisendon.
For noboribetsu, porotokotan was the most shittiest attraction I ever visited in Hokkaido. Unless you're really interested in learning about the Ainu, can consider to give it a miss. Also your choice of hotel is ππΏππΏ, go noboribetsu must go to RegentCid approved dai ichi takimotokan!!!!

QUOTE(juniorkeat @ Aug 25 2016, 07:44 PM) 1. Is that subway and train is the same in Japan? I go through the map, they look differ... 2. I will travel from tokyo to osaka, as well kyoto, is the worth to buy JR rail pass? 1. Too lazy to type a lot, go and read yourself: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2017.html2. Generally if you do return trip then buy JR pass, otherwise just buy single one-way ticket.
