QUOTE(yoyoan @ Feb 20 2016, 02:00 AM) To each his own. I'd rather have long battery life than blinding screens LOL. Also, I'd prefer the battery depleted because of own usage, instead of some superb blinding screen.. Easily 9-10 hours on mine with mainly internet stuffs on a mix of LTE n wifi. If fully on wifi just on few hours usage I project up to 12 hours. Overall I deemed even better than Mate7. Guess Marshmallow is a contributing factor tooOn a side note, Mate 7 easily achieves 7 hrs SOT. This Mate 8, coupled with new processor should be able to get to 10 hrs SOT |

QUOTE(PirateKing @ Feb 20 2016, 05:28 PM) I already bought mine ( China set) n had been using it past 2 weeksSince Msia launching 8 March just wait for it Am sure sites such as Lazada, 11th street will offer lower prices than official retail. Unlikely directd or satugadget can match their prices |

TechnoBuffalo review of the Mate 8
Some personal comments of Huawei UI : Some users will not like the HW UI as it lacks an app drawer. I had been on the default UI for about 10 days already and seriously I do quite like it. I had given up using 3rd party launchers such as Nova, Action 3 as I found the refresh of widgets was just too miserably slow on reboot. Probably is the UI 4.0 bug or related to Marshmallow. I had never faced such issues on previous HW phones up to Kitkat/Jellybean. I had not try other 3rd party launchers besides these two Using the default UI allows one to change to any of the large variety of themes available The new UI 4.0 has made very great improvements vs earlier releases. Now is freaking easy to add apps into any created folder. Just select one's app and tap those app you need in one go unlike dragging each app in previous versions I had disabled practically all the irritating notifications eg battery warning certain apps are using more power, apps using higher memory than usual etc. I feel all these are wasting system resources. The battery life of the Mate 8 is already very very good and I easily get 9-10 hours SOT on a mix of wifi/LTE on mainly internet based stuffs |

QUOTE(N_Silver @ Feb 28 2016, 04:18 PM) Only whatsapp but it had lessen very much after I installed the app push notification fixer. One must also go down into settings/notifications n enable what you needI had no other notification issues on mail ( use maildroid only for gmail, yahoo, outlook), tweeter, newsfeed etc |

QUOTE(bearbearhong @ Feb 29 2016, 09:05 AM) U r right sir, been trying hard to resist buying oversea unit. Saw lazada promo rm2.6k thats why made me contemplating. Hope local set cheaper then 2.5k If your set holdup by custom you need to pay rm106 for sirim and 6% gst tooYou need check with seller whether they covered such costs n arrangement to be deliver to you Different sellers at Lazada does this differently n there is no standard practice. QUOTE(Neomax3 @ Feb 29 2016, 01:45 PM) benny888 1. YES but for China rom you nned to install Google playstore and playservices separately from the HW app storeMind asking 1. in mate7 we can use other regions ROM on Malaysian set right? As I think it is the same case as Mate8.. 2. is flashing custom ROM on huawei set is easy? as I only familiar with Samsung Odin 2. It is easy. Just download the firmware - extract it till you get a dload folder. Just copy this folder to ext SDcard and select update form settings/local update OR the phone will auto update if you switch off phone, press both volup n vol down cum power button simultaneously. Once you see the HW logo, just release the power button and allow phone to detect the updated firmware . Once you see firmware being detected than release both vol buttons |

QUOTE(evanttc @ Feb 29 2016, 07:43 PM) I tested under Auto and manual mode on Mate8. LG V10 is undoubtedly the camera king amongst all the Androids I had used to dateI think LG V10 and Note5 is better overall. LG V10 manual mode is the best. But auto mode Note5 better. Mate8 noise control is quite bad. I would say Mate 8 camera is equally as good if not better than Note5 n Nexus 6P. Noise ? I don't see this as a problem at all. Few minutes usage is often inefficient to assess I had used all these phones n currently keeping the Nexus 6P ( plan to sell) n Mate 8 , LG V10 Just received notice of 2nd update on firmware. This is the second in my 3 weeks usage This post has been edited by benny888: Mar 1 2016, 08:29 AM |

Very good pricing indeed...guys - if you have the budget just take up the 4gb ram/64gb model. Overall I rate a very good phone n just slightly lose to LG V10 mainly on camera side. Its battery life is simply amazing for me with 9-10 hours SOT on mainly internet stuffs but no gaming

QUOTE(mdpeker @ Mar 8 2016, 08:30 AM) Dear my friend, Your previous phone could have hardware issues - did you send in to checkYou have been using mate8 a while, I need to ask something. I have been using the first ascend mate for 2 years now. And my gps is never worked right. It seemed always lost. When it found the location, it is merely true, precision was bad all that time. So I need to ask, have you used your mate8 gps. How it is perception time and precision? No problem with GPS - used few times going up to KL n Spore |
