QUOTE(retsmot @ Mar 10 2016, 04:42 PM) one thing bout the amoled i heard is that black wallpaper/background can save battery, which is nice. I think you will be more than happy n simply amazed at Mate 8 battery life. Even though its battery capacity is only 23-33% additional over say Nexus 6P, LG V10 its usage life is close to double of these 2 phones. This is based on my usagebut over time the white become yellow, is it still like that now? my previous s3 is like that, white is yellow lol. |

Potential buyers - do enjoy your new Mate 8
Is an excellent phone Is either you will love or hate its UI Do google a bit how to use the UI if you are unfamiliar with it If you don't have the patience just replace with 3rd party launcher. You might need to set permissions for some to show eg Google Now launcher Spent time exploring the notifications settings n app permission settings too My set is China set n mixed comments about its firmware being better or worser than international firmware Anyway I could easily uninstall 9/10 of those useless app ( some games, news app n various China social app) However being China set has its advantages - firmware update release is often - had 2 updates in 3 weeks using it My experience with Msian HW phones is bad on firmware updates - while China n Euro sets has 5-6 firmware updates one is lucky to even get one for Msian model!! QUOTE(bearbear @ Mar 11 2016, 03:13 PM) I would recommend one change to a new nano sim . This phone the simcard need to be slot inside a sim tray. Microsim cards are very slighty thicker and can possibly jam up the sim tray making it difficult to take it out later. It is alright if the nano sim can be inserted flat in and you can see the simcard slot eg in LG G4, V10 phones |

HW actually make very good quality phones. I was very impressed with my first Mate 6.1 n had since than purchase X1, Mate 7, P8max n now Mate8
HW network n 3g/LTE are very stable n strong as they are world largest manufacturer of telco infrastructure and equipment They do not end up as world 3rd largest mobile manufacturer after Apple n Samsung if they make poor quality stuff. Is a pity many users view HW branding poorly n think they are one of the many cheap China makes |

QUOTE(derrickmoo @ Mar 12 2016, 11:29 AM) Been using it for 36hours from now.. HW based on my experience has the best strongest network/lte lockup amongst all other manufacturers. This is their strength being world largest manufacturer of equipment for most telco in the world+battery life is extremely good.. extreme heavy usage.. Clash Royale, Clash of clan.. about 2 hours non stop, then whatsapp, Waze, Google map.. Unplugged from 9am, last all the way till 930PM.. btw... spotify for non stop 2 hours streaming. If compare to my last Note 5.. i have already charged for 3x.. Unexpectedly.. the color is extremely vivid that i thought.. i got a mocha gold.. and i thought it will be a little behind note5.. but.. hey.. its on par! in fact some parts are better than note5.. one thing significant better.. is the SIGNAL.. it is very very very good! |

QUOTE(icemessenger @ Mar 12 2016, 01:39 PM) Guys, this is my first time using a dual-sim phone (previously i was with iphone). so i have two sim cards here. You can choose only one sim for data ( 3g n above). This is so for all dual sim phones . So I am not sure whether you can receive whatsapp on sim 1 if you had chosen sim2 for datasim 1: prepaid sim 2: postpaid i want to turn on the mobile data for sim 2, but off for sim 1, but when the phone is connected to internet via sim 2, sim 1 can online for whatsapp and others. so at the "dual card management" in the settings, "4g/3g slot" as well as "default mobile data" should be enable for sim 2 rite? |

QUOTE(retsmot @ Mar 12 2016, 06:24 PM) hi benny, read that root guide u posted , it says to : Check your firmware at : settings/About phone/Build Number Option 1: Make a Huawei ID on your phone and stay signed in for 14 days and go then online to unlock your bootloader and it should work on the website. https://uniportal.huawei.com/account...hod=toRegister make a huawei id on your phone, how? i go to settings, accounts, add account, no make huawei id option... and if i make huawei id on website, where do i sign in on my phone? oh and the firmware... not sure where to check but its december 2015 build. To get your unlock code ( only after 14 days registration of HW ID) , email to HW : mobile@huawei.com giving them your phone details : Model - IMEI : the first top one will do Serial number : Product ID : For Product ID : Bring up the dialpad and enter the characters below. An 8-digit ID will then be displayed. *#*#1357946#*#* Just sign up a HW ID at HW main site using email address : LINK Once you had done that , just sign in at your phone at Settings/Huawei ID |

Absolutely fine with the camera...all those reported issues were with earlier development builds
If you are unhappy with the camera than is probably hardware related Just check youtube many reviewers are happy with it It is not in the class of LG V10, G4 but comparable to Note5, Nexus 6p Finally photo shot quality again heavily depends on one demands on it - camera enthusiasts /geeks would had a higher demand. I am just a simple point and shoot photographer and to date all my current phones Nexus 6P, V10, Lumia 950xl and iphone 6s+ - all photo shots I am happy with it And if you can, try to update firmware - latest is b160 for international models. Any lower number means your set is on old firmware. I read on XDA most users get b152 out of box This post has been edited by benny888: Mar 13 2016, 09:33 AM |

QUOTE(retsmot @ Mar 13 2016, 10:08 AM) there's no update... check ledi. need to flash ourselves? don't feel like flashing anything yet on new phone... just want root That is always the biggest problem with M'sian models of all HW phones I had used. Firmware is either outdated and updates are very slowYou can download the latest firmware from XDA Flashing new firmware is easy. Just download the firmware file Extract it till you see a dload folder. If you don't see it, just copy the extracted files into a folder named dload Copy this dload folder onto ext SDcard Boot the phone into flashing mode : switch off. Than press both vol up/vol down and power button simultaneously. Once you see the boot up, release the power button only. When you see the firmware being update than letgo the vol buttons Normally all your data will remains . It would just take 2-3 minutes to complete flash/update the firmware |

QUOTE(WyjSwmW @ Mar 13 2016, 02:19 PM) Anyone got dissapointed that this phone only got FHD display on a huge 6" instead of a QHD? or only me? Why don't you go n view it yourself to assess. I am perfectly happy with it vs my other Nexus 6P n LG V10I don't see any significant differences . The display s very good and striking |
