Get from someone that is more willing to share information about your future hedgie. If they're not willing to put up with someone that actually wants to know more about their future hedgie, then it's time to look for another seller.

alrite... noted that down..

Mr. Z, the person you refer to as LanC is me and I believe I have my good reason to be. Since that many people are not sincere. Ask a lot but in the end wasting time.

If you are looking for a nice hedgie, feel free to ask fellow forumers here what they think about the PLANETEERS......

I am sure you can see your "potential" pet hedgie's history from this thread as well. So are you going to be part of its future, up to you.

And yes, people, I am being very picky about who's bringing HEART home. Believe that he needs a good home. So lansi is a good way to test potential new owners. If they can withstand means they are really interested, anyone disagrees?

Hm i'm scared to treat it fruits etc or it won't eat the catfood i give it. Should i be worried ?

Also since their new to me how do i get them to warm up to me ? So far they've been huddling in a round ball. The youngun keeps turning around a bit and looking at me, and then turns into a tigther ball ! I'm not sure whether it's afraid or it's trying to get some sleep doh.gif It keeps doing that every 20 minutes or so .... I saw it anointing itself once o_O; Very cute  notworthy.gif

I was looking at some ideas here

http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/hedgehogs/ht/handlehh.htm

http://www.hedgehogvalley.com/hhome.html

Also is dumping a weeks worth of food in the bowl ok ? Or should i give a days worth of food everyday so they don't get over weight doh.gif ?
*
Actually, you shouldn't be worried... hedgehogs favour catfood more than fruits hahahaha.... Really, once they tasted good catfood, they won't touch fruits normally.

Well, it will take a you a few months before they really warm up to you. But then if the previous owner never handled them often, then it would be hard for you to make them friendly to humans. Hedgehogs that are afraid would always stay in a ball no matter what. So what you can do now is handle them often. Tahan the pain and handle them hahaahah

Oh, better for you to put food enough for a day. Letting them eat anytime they want will make the food become stale and unfresh, can cause flies to lay eggs onto the food and also make the hedgehog overeat. So better place food daily.

Hahaha... I agree.... the Planeteers are from my Sparky also and I also wish for them to have great homes. I'm even keeping one of the daughters... so cute my Donut. Anyway, when it comes to people or should I saw caring owners like us, we would question people till they drop dead LOL.... part of it coz we want to know how good that person is and whether got potential to be a good owner or not lah. So if the person interested can stand the owner's or breeder's way of questioning, then that person has potential to have a hedgie.

I believe this approach is wrong, giving a mean attitude is showing that u are not much more different than the petstore owner who doesnt give a damn about their hedgie.. for a minute there, i thought he might be some wholeseller and those who bundle their hedgie in whole...

And on top of that, those who are able to withstand mean attitude doesnt shows that he/she is a caring owner, it could be sign that he is desperate for one and would put up with any nonsense that the seller is giving him... The future of the hedgie after that is another story...

So, my conclusion is, i m not those who can tolerate bad customer service.. I boycott alot of shops who show me that attitude, and only patron those who give me excellent customer service even if its slightly more expensive.. And final note, i m not shooting anyone here, so no harm done and no hard feelings.. biggrin.gif

Bro,

You also have to understand that as much you want your value for money, we are no desperate sellers as well. My main intention is to get a good home so that good quality pets are passed to the right people.People who truly appreciates and love them. Most of the forumers here cares a great deal about their pets and treats them as part of their family. And they have nurtured their pets to their best potential. You cannot deny the fact that they are still people with the mentality of a pet is just a pet. For example, a dog is still a dog, they treat them without respect and dignity.

I do not like to hear after a few months down the road that the pet has been given to someone. I definitely do not like people who does not do their homework and just get because they are cute. How many cute animals had died in the hands of irresponsible owner. As we speak there are pets suffering due to ignorance.

If you want good customer service, you can always get it. That's after the sale has been made. Right now, in the initial stage, attitude counts for me.

Just hold them. Show them that you are not scared of them and they will soon learn that you are a friend.

Well, it is true that a seller should be polite but some sellers or owners like to test the water first. I will give such attitude if someone asked me to sell them my hamsters for RM5 or give them for free.... I have been through so much already with different buyers, so I know how to treat those that are worthy to be owners.... of course as said before, depends on seller.... We are all tired of being cheated by customers.... yes, you heard rite, cheated by customers since some will get say get for their family, act all nice and all and later sell of the pet to someone else with a higher price.... most of us breeders or owners have experienced this. I have experienced this a few times and I am really mad with people taking advantage of my niceness with them. So sometimes, a little attitude is nothing.

Petshops and suppliers is really different story lah. They won't tell you the age, nor sex, nor care about health....

And from experience, those who have patience and answer questions and tolerate the seller is normally someone who really wants a pet to love, not to have a pet for fun.... this is how I see it.

Ermm... I think this is a rather weird situation.

Mr. Z
I don't really blame you for thinking that he's lanci. Now that I know that it's Sangterap, I can say that his hedgie is very healthy and well cared for, but he is extremely picky of who's gonna take home his beloved Heart.

Sangterap
I don't know the full story or what led you to scold him, you should try to be less harsh to newbies as they may take it the wrong way. You can just interview them and see whether they're suitable to take Heart home instead of coming off as lanci.

The most excellent owner can also be a very timid and sensitive person that can be scared off by aggression. Anyone that sees a cheap hedgie will be interested; And what if someone comes to think that if they have to be a little persistent to get a cheap hedgie? All they have to do is to be patient and pretend, to withstand whatever you throw at them. Just because they can tolerate you doesn't necessarily make them good owners.

This is looking at it from my view.

PS : This does not apply to dumb ppl who ask dumb questions to the sellers.

yes, i understand that u are worried about ur beloved hedgie, that is normal.. if u treat them as part of ur family..

But good customer service should not happen only after sales has been made.. Before sales is made, the customer is gone... That would apply to me..
Sellers who show me good customer service are those who begins since i get in contact with them... Those who only show after sales to me are unprofessional, coz they are giving the customer service after knowing that the person is a buyer and may buy again... (*this does not apply to the breeders here.. i m just comparing case to case, not pointing fingers here..)

Mr. Z,

If you need to have after sales service after getting the pet, I believe that is not a good sign. It is either you did not do enough research or there is something wrong with the pet you bought.

Please do not compare me to those pet shops. They are not even close and in different league altogether. We advice based on experience and even vets cannot advice you better than most of us here in this forum when it comes to exotics.

To me life is very simple. It is either YES or NO. Problem occurs when you have MAYBE.

Sorry, I am bluntly straight forward. That's just the way I am. I do not like dilly dally, ask and see first. Well, in the end, just as expected, we might have just wasted time typing long emails to each other. But happy to get to know you anyway.

No heart feelings.

Reanne,

I did not scold anyone. I do not consider that as scolding also. Just telling the truth.
