QUOTE(X-Free! @ Dec 11 2006, 04:15 AM) wow! y can feed hedgie with Whiskas??? Wah.... looks like a very dangerous site.... the person tried to feed onions... almost all animals can die from onions.... and cream? That's gonna cause lactose problem....get info from here http://hem.passagen.se/hedgehogs/hedgehogs.html Hmmmm.... if posted this at an international forum, I bet the site would get a scolding hahahah... really wrong diet. Whiskas is very poor quality food.... well, its not to say not edible... but in the long run, a hedgie can get health problems. Once Pedigree dogfood was banned to be imported for months because some dogs died from eating Pedigree.... Whiskas was also banned once coz manufactured by same company as Pedigree loh.... Summore those 2 food contain unatural colouring.... food preservatives.... ugly stuff like chicken feathers, toe nails, beaks, skin, bones, mostly the unedible body parts are process into "by-products"... sounds ugly or not? |

QUOTE(akachester @ Dec 11 2006, 11:54 AM) lol...someone should go there and bash them of their information.Maybe they hate hedgie and wana kill them. There was also a website that said feed Iams catfood and we must keep hedgies in double storey cages... really wrong info coz hedgie cannot climb like hamsters and rats.... drop sure more painful mah... sigh.... Anyway, is it enough just to feed cat food only? Nopes... not enough if just catfood.... this is why we should feed gutloaded mealworms and crickets... I tried earthworms on Sparky but he didn't like them. Earthworms are very nutritious for hedgies.... in the wild they eat all sorts of insects... Oh yah... If you can get hold of mealworms pupas and beetles... they are quite high in fiber for them, Sparky goes crazy when I give him pupa and beetles... eat like real pig hahahah... It is also known that hedgehogs eat slugs and snails.... erm... I won't try those hahahah.... who knows if the snails in the garden contaminated or not hahahah.... If you want your hedgie to get some vitamins.... you can get LM small animal Vitamin drops and put about 3 drops into their water bowl.... |

Well... from what I know...30 crickets cost RM1 hahahah... but not all hedgies like crickets... need to make them taste it then only will eat.... avoid superworms... my Sparky won't even taste it.... at least he ate 1 earthworm b4 and a few crickets.... but he will never touch superworm.... I think got something weird inside it. I still say mealworms and their beetles are the best.
Now I got 100 beetles.... all for breeding hahhah.... but once I feel they are old, Sparky gets to eat them happily. |

QUOTE(babymoli @ Dec 12 2006, 12:16 AM) I never see superworms b4 so i cant really know how to differentiate eventhough i know superworm is big. But i think the one i feed Ren are mealies. Bought it from a petshop where use that to feed birds. Superworms are huge.... you will know wan... normall they sell in 1 container 100 worms RM8 to Rm10... |

You know.... many people got different ways of looking at swimming.... I for one would never agree to let a hedgie swim. Why?
By nature they are not swimmers.... you will never see a hedgehog swim in the wild and if they do, they most likely will drown. Coz when I bath Sparky... can see that he dislikes having water to deep so I normally shower him. Hedgies can't talk mah.... so we humans only assume they like it but do they really like swimming? |

QUOTE(prophet007 @ Dec 19 2006, 10:01 PM) ya, i also noticed Stephy dislike and scared water. WHen i bath her in tub, she run here and there, like wanting to escape. Ah... you also notice then... yah, the hedgie will try and climb out of its watery bath.... this is why we should only give if possible, baths twice a month loh.... the most is once a week lah. |

wah, Ren looks so cute sleeping like the ball... he got some chubbiness but it is not overweight yet. Overweight is when the tummy touches the ground... obese is when feet cannot see.
