QUOTE(GreenNerdy @ Aug 26 2007, 10:36 PM) How do you all judge how old is a hedgehog? my ChaCha size is just nice for 6 weeks... I went to two different petshop in JB, one has cinnamon another has a salt & pepper..almost the same size.. but one told me the cinnamon is 7 months old, salt & pepper is 4 months old... and how big should a 6 weeks old hedgehog be? -.- |

QUOTE(max_cavalera @ Aug 27 2007, 02:57 AM) its a very rare disease. same thing can be said to humans. Sad to see aya suffer, so cute girl yet suffer so much(tho its in the drama only ;p). Frankly, it's not that rare as you think. As more and more people start to keep hedgies and breed once the hedgies are mature enough, without knowing if the hedgies they breed are free from the recessive genes that carry the WHS. By the time the breeders realise something is wrong with their hedgies, it's too late. WHS takes time to develop and before it's noticed in the hedgies, a lot of hoglets that might carry the genes have been sold, and the chain goes on.Normally, responsible breeders from overseas breed their hedgies for a few generations before selling the hoglets to good home to ensure that all the hoglets are in the best conditions. btw yrh, forgot to tell you just now, IF the worst case scenario happens, you'll need a water bottle for Igel to drink and handfeed her with soaked kibbles as all her four legs will be paralyzed and it will be very difficult to eat and drink from the bowls. Hope it won't turn out to be like that |

QUOTE(GreenNerdy @ Aug 27 2007, 12:39 AM) The size of hedgie is just an estimation on how old it is. There's no such thing as how nice it is just by judging the size. Sometimes, a hoglet might be bigger than normal if it's a single baby from the mum as there're no competitors to compete for milk from the mum and all the nutrient go into it. As for a mummy hedgie with a lot of hoglets, sometimes you can find a hedgie that's smaller than its siblings, that doesn't mean the hedgie is not healthy, all it need is an extra attention.QUOTE(almighty @ Aug 27 2007, 07:54 AM) around 7~8 cm Cannot Added on August 27, 2007, 8:18 amguys, i got a question..hedgehog quill can cut shorteR? |

QUOTE(almighty @ Aug 27 2007, 08:00 PM) i dono...mind to teach me please? Disinfect the toys and cage/container with detergent. Use newspaper as the bedding and only put the food and water dish inside the cage/container. Spray your hedgehog with Frontline and avoid the face area. Leave the hedgehog back in its cage/container for 3 to 4 hours and bath it after the duration so that it'll be free from Frontline. Repeat the same step 3 days later to make sure that the hedgehog is free from mites. Usually the quarantine last for 7 days, remember to change the newspaper everyday. Find out the source of the mites if possible.btw..the cheap wood shaving you guys mean is how much the price and how big it is? I've forgotten how much it is, the size is 4kg. Remember to buy only Delikate or Chipsi Classic, it might be a little bit more expensive than the chapalang brand but it won't irritate the hedgie. |

Errr... no need actually, the Frontline is strong enough to kill the mites. If you insist, then you use J&J wet tissue to wipe the face.
No need to thank me lar, the most next time we meet up by any chance, belanja me eat can d |
