Anyone here has experienced brake screeching sound and had solved it by changing to good brake pads? Please give some comments thank you. I really hate that brake screeching sound.

Recently in trying very hard to rectify this problem. I have googled about this problem, comments from various forums seem to conclude that this brake screeching is quite a normal thing for persona. Some does not get this prob.
Proposed solution is to try changing to better brake pads, adding some grease at the back of the brake pad. I will give feedbacks here after trying.

QUOTE(hyloy @ Nov 29 2015, 03:51 PM) Same thing happened to my car front brake that also have screeching sound, especially after raining day. However it doesn't affect overall braking performance of the car. See when change brake pad next time change a better one. Are you still using stock Bosch brake pads? Yea they were noisy and dusty. Just to update here, went to change both rear and front brake pads to a more reputable brand introduced by my friend. Problem solved, no more screeching at all, none. Hopefully it will last. Touch wood.

QUOTE(dares @ Nov 30 2015, 09:57 AM) I see, thanks. Hows the performance? better than stock? btw I just checked the market value of the SV on ism.net.my because I need to renew my insurance soon....1 year old Persona that was RM45k new, market value now worth RM30k only lol proton what you expect, at least the RV is better than Peugeot haha. If you wanna use this car for 10 years, don't need to care about RV lor. I'm not sure about the performance, to me its like the same. Cuz I don't do hard braking, not really sure bout that. again, most importantly it doesn't screech. yeah.

QUOTE(benson92 @ Dec 3 2015, 03:41 PM) Some persona have this problem, not sure what's the issue there mine always got high pitch screeching sound when apply break in low speed ( <20 km/h), can help me ask them what is the problem? perhaps is the wet brake pads (since always rain recently)? I'm using ceramic brake pads thanks bro I did have this problem before this. Stock brake pads from Bosch also produces high pitch screeching when u apply brake at low speed. Lots of dust too. 3 weeks ago I changed my front pads to a brand named Musashi. These pads give me even more screeching sound. I think it's of low quality lah. A week ago I felt angry, can't tahan the stupid screeching sound. I bought whole new sets of front and rear brake pads, Treator Metallic plus , which is introduced by my dad's car parts supplier. After changing to this, no single screeching at all. Again, not single screech!!! Dam good pads.

QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ Dec 4 2015, 01:46 PM) I took some time to apply some synthetic lithium grease to the back of the brake pads for the front since the morning groaning noise was way too much after the insulation layer got removed. For now my brakes do not groan loudly anymore early in the morning, and even without warming up, when the car closes to a halt, the brakes hardly groan as well. If it stays like this, I'll probably get some proper brake grease to replace the current one since it's only rated for 200+ Deg C. What type of noise is groan? Not screeching in high pitch ? Is it a low pitch voice ? Like wang wang wang. Why did you remove the insulation layer ?

QUOTE(TDUEnthusiast @ Dec 4 2015, 03:28 PM) "Ngummmmmmm" sound. Does not hurt the ears but it's loud and annoying. I told one of the foreman to re-adjust the insulation layer of the pads since they weren't seated properly, but he proceeded to tear them off on the pretext that it doesn't do anything and that it's just plastic. The insulation layer is very important. My previous brake pads does not have it... That's why the screeching.

QUOTE(LazyKurosaki @ Dec 4 2015, 09:13 PM) Just notice my car tyre damn noisy on uneven road.. When I look at the tyre used by previous owner, 1) 2 biji is ecotopia or ecopia.. forgot exact name 2) 1 biji is bridgestone 3) 1 more biji I no see.. Btw, still got question to ask since Im new to PE. When I'm inside my car with engine on, after I unlocked the car door, I open and close, it will auto lock again after close. normal kah? and now i notice got some rat sound when braking low speed. probably due to cheap brake pads Some comfort or good nvh tyres : Continental CC5 , Toyo Neo energy , Dunlop D05. I myself using toyo, quiet and soft tyre I would say. Brake rat? High pitched sound when slow braking ? Change to a better brake pad such as Bendix , not high performance type.

QUOTE(LazyKurosaki @ Dec 5 2015, 03:36 PM) Last time my car use continental cc5 also... Not high pitch, jz abit of rat sound. Loud jz enuf to hear. Cc5 also noisy? Maybe it's time to change ? Previously no rat sound? I thought rat sound is like screeching squealing when low speed braking... By the way the stock persona's brake pads is noisy too. I solved my braking sound problems after I changed all pads to Treator Metallic plus.

QUOTE(voscar @ Dec 22 2015, 02:08 PM) using proton mintye for rear brake pad, quite ok and very less dust compare to original bosch (super dust emitter) come when the car is new. but when cold and rainy, sometime the rear brake will emit "wo wo" noise on 1st initial brake when reversing out from home. after a few braking noise is gone... Stock Bosch brake pads very dusty and also gives screeching sounds. I have changed all front and rear pads to trestor, no more annoying braking sounds! So far so good. Using for a month already.
