Nice. Another local leather crafter to add to my list. This sub forum needs a handmade leather goods thread.

How's the nailclipper compared to normal ones?

What's makes it worth the price other than the logo/brand?

Just curious bro

its sharp of course

made from stainless steel so supposedly it'll last longer

its flat when closed

the nail file is wide and can be used as a screwdriver

the clip is on the 2017 models...
i got last yrs model which i prefer cos the UI is more user friendly.

the clip actually can buy seperately thru nitecore...but i find it stupid...
imo, its more used to clip on to a cap etc...thats why product shots always show the clip not protecting the buttons.

but if u want to use it to cover the buttons...since the 2017 has no lockout mode...then it is extremely stupidly un-user-friendly designed.
u cannot slide the clip out of the way to access the buttons...but have to remove it completely...then putting it back on is a pita...
so yea again thats why product shots dont show it protecting the buttons tongue.gif

the 2017 as u probably already know replaces the lockout mode with a daily mode that automatically shuts it off after 30secs...in everyday use i think most will find it irritating also...unless u switch it to the constant-on mode...

oh ya, that ganzo...now i recall i think i tried one before...was like rm30...was quite badly built and felt cheap...no surprises there.

Morning everyone!

I have a few questions about this flashlight that I plan to replace my current Surefire Y300 (gave it to my sis sad.gif ) so I need advice on a new replacement I am eyeing on

1. What is your opinion about this for those who owns OLight and similar?
2. There is hardly any info on batteries, all YouTube and forum post are primary CR123a and disposable AAs, how about a RCR123a that OLight sells or something like Rayonac/ Enelope rechargeable AAs?
3. Being used to Surefire my whole EDC life...is there any problem or things I should be aware off? (e.g: hot spots or tail cap problem...etc?) hmm.gif

Attached are the pictures of the flashlight I am eyeing on, called OLight Transformer Titanium

hmm so i saw mr.diy now has almost the full range of copies of those gerber gdc.
Attached Image

so my itchy hands decided to try out some of the mr.diy copies.
Attached Image

the badly named hotak...from the packaging appears to be a mr.diy brand that they make in china...
and like the gerber it's damn hard to open due to the frame lock putting too much side pressure on the blade.
theres also no way for me to use this as part of my edc...
i also wonder what are the chances of the factory being the oem for gerber...
Attached Image

the next cheap crap is the skeletool copy...its basically almost the same size as the original but thicker due to that extra blade.
claims its stainless steel...but from the rest of the samples in store...it looks softer since can see what look to be deep scratches on some.
the wire cutters also look like they're made from some alloy.
the blade also isnt sharp at all...not surprising there.
Attached Image

anyway, that traveler brand kinda sux...but that hotak thing has some decent quality...
if i had any other use for those gerber copies i may get them...maybe wait for a hook knife or money clip copy tongue.gif

Olight is good. Other than titanium, cr123, rcr, 14500 & aa compatibility, its a bit dated. Xpg s2 tint kinda bit greenish. May i know why u want that particular light?

And quality wise, surefire is way better although price/performance ratio is not. And y300 is newer compared to transformer. Seriously why u want this light? hmm.gif
*
I am looking at this light because it is on sale right now (falls into my current budget and wages allocation), I know my Y300 is a beast but it only runs on certain LiFePO4 RCR123a which can be quite troublesome, and to make matter worst Ace Hardware doesn't carry Surefire primary CR123a. I looking for advise here since other than cheap China made LED before using Surefire G2, Titan 1A and currently the Y300; I never venture to other brand before.

I saw my classmate has a S1R Baton but it is quite out of my budget, he manage to convince me that OLight have last use memory mode and I need a partly tactical light since the place I walk home can sometimes be quite dark and dangerous, in short my life do depends on it aside than lighting my way home.

If this light is not suitable for me I need some recommendation that is within USD$30, which is the price for this flashlight now. notworthy.gif

I am looking for flashlight with two requirements only:
1. Can be used with rechargable RCR123a
2. Two mode lighting, low and high.

I am curious lukescamwalker, you did mention that XPG-S2 light is a little greenish, will it be on the visible obvious side or only when you shine against a white wall? What are the pros and cons for it? This is the first time I am going to start learn back from basic again. sweat.gif um...where is the dealer for the Fenix? I might give it a try if I can test it out... hmm.gif

I am aware that not many have the high/low function that is within the budget and I will keep on looking until I have to settle with OLight Transformer or expand my budget to get the S1R Baton but I will looking into your recommendation first, appreciate very much for you help notworthy.gif

since quite a few people pm me regarding the edc organizer by kerastangan i'll get abit into the details

the price is RM80 for standard size and RM90 for custom

the standard size is 7.5cm x 7.5cm more or less by my measurement

Attached Image

here you can see the size of it on my palm

the usual way i see people been using this on the fb page is by carrying a small pen like fisher space bullet together with victorinox 84mm cadet or such

the small compartment barely fit small aaa flashlight like olight i3e or something that size

here is what i'd been carrying with it

Attached Image

lamy pico with sak cadet alox with victorinox nail clipper

i think 3-4 layer sak could fit snuggly
