Thanks for your reply bro.
Mind if i ask how do you know delloitte is in shortage of staff as we all know in audit line the turnover for all big 4 is high? Are you one of their staff?haha...

Yes I think that you are right i did not exhibit good leadership traits in the interview and also did not stand out from the group interview but most of the participant in the group interview did similar. I wonder how great a fresh grad can be.

Yes I think i messed up during the phone interview with EY as im afraid of telling them which industry I would want to be in because each industry has its quota.

How long have you been working in mid firm before moving to big 4? when you move to big 4 did you already acquire your professional tittle?
*
Deloitte just had a batch of new joiners this week. And yes deloitte is in need of staff right now. Im from Deloitte.

And the group interview is actually quite random. I think most importantly when you talk dont make it feel forced. Some ppl who kinda forced themselves to talk more, got rekted. Lol

how long for deloitte to interview and offer ? within a month? I just started a new job but still considering audit
*
Good enough, 1 week is possible.

If deemed average. No idea.

If they kept you waiting for a month, most prolly you wont be getting it. Becausse they now despo for ppl. And bz season coming soon already.

Heard Deloitte Audit is divided into 3 Groups. Which Group is the best  hmm.gif ?
*
Depends what kind of clientele and colleagues you want. Got one pool where its full of chinese, always speak in dialect. Another deal with government jobs more. even if youre in those groups, things may change also. Deloitte pools are not segregated as per industry like other firms.\

And also in terms of promotion, youll be pit against people from your pool.

even during early years as junior staff? I heard promote to senior within 2-3 years is the norm. Or you mean from senior to assistant manager?
*
Throughout your career youll be compared. Why fear competition. Lol.

And when I say pit against your own pool meaning if like your pool ppl willing to work until late night, or even throw their health away for work. If compared against someone who doesnt do that, who you think will get promoted. Lol.

Lol I see what you mean now

I thought you said like they have quota to fill position. but I do heard a friend was refused promotion coz of health issue n unable to work til late as often as others.
*
I would say as long as you can pass up your deliverables on time. Should be no problem.

Quota I dont think will be a problem, as audit always high turnover.

Very rarely the whole team so elite until someone elite also. As long as you can prove OT not = high performer, should be okay.

Need a piece of advice here. Currently working in a mid-tier firm(still under probation) and one of the big 4 emailed to me asking to do the online assessment few days ago(which i applied around 3.5 months ago -.-). If they phone me to schedule interview, should i go or tell them am already working nw?
*
Just go for interview, why limit yourself in your firm. More options always good

QUOTE(Alidanilz @ Apr 14 2017, 08:31 AM)
Hi,

I would like to share my experience with Deloitte. There was a career fair in London (2 weeks ago) and I met with one of their directors & handed in my CV. A week later, I got an email saying that I have been shortlisted and I had to complete an online assement. Just this Monday (4 days ago), I received an offer from them. I was a bit surprised as I was expecting to be interviewed but I got the offer straight away (conditional upon my final grades).

Honestly, I don't know much about the culture of Deloitte. Many of my friends are in PWC and E&Y + I did my internship in KPMG. I applied for the audit division by the way.

Please say hi if you're working in deloitte smile.gif Thanks in advance
*
My friend overseas usually stil go thru some kind of impromptu interview before getting their offers. My friends from places like aussie and london. Maybe the meet up with the director serves as an impromptu interview?

Culture all depends on which team you get in to, im from Deloitte.

Yeah, I think it might be so.

Oh hi smile.gif Are you in the audit dept? I think I'm a bit worried cause I don't know much about deloitte. I have friends in other of the big 4 so I don't know what to expect.

How do you find the company so far?
*
Audit is segregated in 3 pools here. If you're in Pool A then you should be quite fortunate, other pools can be not so nice.

And it all depends on the boss you get, I was lucky in terms of the partners and managers I worked with, they are quite reasonable.

*
Dont think they work long hours, some just in charge of claims, some in charge of billing and stuff.

I am currently having my degree in accounting, wanted to ask that is it necessary for audit associate to have professional qualification because I am planning to prosper my audit career in big 4? How far can a degree holder in accounting go without professional qualification in big four ? How to get MIA ? And what if I just get MIA without having professional qualification ? Looking forward for your reply
*
You can definitely go in, but now audit firms state in your letter of emplyment that you need to start a professional paper before they confirm you.

And also to advance beyond AM level to Manager Level, definitely need professional now.

Currently studying ACCA.
Lets say after my course is finished, and I want to pursue for ICAEW.

I know only few chosen companies are eligible to provide the programme.
And I wanted to enroll in Big 4's.

So my question is,
-how do i apply for this aca training? or what procedures?
-how much salary i will be paid for it? Is it considered as training(lower wages) or normal staff(market wages)

Thanks^^
*
What is this aca training? And icaew I thought you got the money then you can enrol already. No need special companies for it?

ACCA is one of the professional qualification, so as Icaew.
But ICAEW is harder than ACCA. (I think this is the most simplest way to describe)

According to ICAEW website, only selected companies are available to provide this training no?
http://careers.icaew.com/en/find-your-rout...ing-in-malaysia

But I know Sunway Uni also provides this course tho. So I'm not very sure, thats why Im asking here.
But now on, Im focusing on ACCA, still have a long way yet.
*
ICAEW is more prestigious than ACCA. As some reputable companies at UK only take in ICAEW grads, they dont place any importance for ACCA for some.

If you are able to finish ACCA, you just need to take the last 3 papers for ICAEW.

But actually in terms of companies in Malaysia, ACCA and ICAEW are considered professional papers and for big 4 companies, they are seen as a tool for you to enable the jump from AM to Manager.

So if youre still having a long way to go. Better to just focus at ACCA first, no point thinking so far ahead. Ive seen many people failing even for ACCA papers, still going classes at Sunway eventho they are like around 40. Feelsbadman but that is just how the cookie crumbles.

The selected companies thing is because for ICAEW you need to have working experience, and only working experience at some chosen companies are recognised by ICAEW. But if you get your ACCA I dont see you having any difficulty going in to these "chosen companies".

So it all depends on your ACCA qualifications. Good luck.

I wish to work at other countries in future, thats why I'm planning to take ICAEW after ACCA.

So does that mean, to study ICAEW, you've got to work at the selected companies while taking courses in college or uni that provide the ICAEW course?
*
Not so sure which countries are you referring to but they are countries who dont really care about professional papers. Example, Singapore, where they place more importance on their local grads and their own accounting institute. UK maybe sure ICAEW has advantage. Australia most prolly where CPA scholars have the advantage.

If you want to really upgrade yourself, I would suggest you to take CFA, as that would really increase your marketability.

ACCA and ICAEW are somewhat considered clashing.

Why not just take ICAEW from the start, and just forego ACCA. I have frens who aare talking ICAEW and CFA concurrently.

And in ICAEW there are some papers where you cannot fail a number of times, if not you will get some kind of disqualification, want continue also cannot.I know people where they are sent straight to ICAEW and they until now do not have a professional paper nor degree, at around 25 yo dy.

You need to work with those icaew selected companies because most prolly those companies have staff/superiors there that are full fledged ICAEW grads and they are needed to sign off for your working experience at the firm, in order for you to get your full ICAEW membership.

Hi, it is interesting to read the discussions here.

I got a call from one of the big4 and they emailed me a preliminary assessment, the assessment looks like a personality test and I answered it with my first instinct as the instruction required me to do so. At first I thought the result will only be referred by the HR to understand more about myself but I am extremely surprise to receive an email from them replying that the firm will not proceed my application anymore the following day after the assessment. The questions were all MCQ, very subjective with no exact answers for each questions. I am wondering how a firm can judge a person by only referring to the result of a 20 minutes test. Its quite upsetting... Anyone knows what are the problems or reasons behind this? I am just a little curious about it. Thanks
*
The test is designed to gauge a persons overall IQ and EQ.

And in regards to job, its always a supply and demand kind of thing. Better luck next time. thumbsup.gif

All the best!! nod.gif

And applicants who do not possess any professional qualification are usually able to get in big 4 as well. Maybe the timing just wasn't right for Pwc.

I'm joining Deloitte next Monday and I still can't buy a pair of black heels!!!! ( This is true.. I went to 3 parksons... and other shoe shops.. no 37/38 at all...! My budget is <rm100.. Is it weird or is it just my luck?)
Is it ok to wear black flat at work first?
*
