If I were you, I would take Nemesis's advice. From what I observe about him, he is living his life to the fullest, thanks to his own perseverance and practical / successful views. biggrin.gif

Just go ahead with both as you will never know when your company decides to terminate you. The $3k ish plus for the PR is insignificant to the issues that you may potentially faced by your employer (e.g. Redundancy).

Just inform your HR when you have gotten your visa as a formality. Been through what you've described and was very fortunate that the company decided to reimburse my PR cost as well.
*
Thanks Soony. Ok, in line with my plan also. Additional cost is only around A$3.5k.

Thanks Namesis. I asked this question because I'm not sure if both visas can co-exist. But yes probably I may need to think about the possibility of being retrenched.

I already submitted all additional docs, like I said. After 3 weeks, there is still no reply from the officer in charge of my case. I think I may have been rejected, since you said it takes only 2 weeks or less to approve your visa after getting your docs.  cry.gif

if your wife not working, she can get 300 to 500/mth. if u didn't own a house, there's rental allowance say 50/week
your kids will get almost 50% deduction on daycare. medicare covers the most but there's a queue going on.
dental care is cosmetic here. medicare covers it BUT the ubat bius you need to pay which may cost you almost $1000. that's why some of us here went back Malaysia to do which is very cheap.

If you and your wife have stable income, can think about private insurance. this insurance is far different from malaysia. not to disrespect to malaysian insurance agent, the package backhome is blood sucking. in KL, i paid almost RM6000/annum for whole family. where else over here i paid AUD187/mth for family of four. got a dental floss service free, glasses for free each year, massage....worthwhile to get.

under 457, if you got retrench, u'll be sitting on the plane heading KLIA or KLIA2 the next day.
under 190, if you got retrench, u'll be lying on your bed thinking of getting another job or wondering around in Oz.

you choose..... cool2.gif

Yeah, it's bloody expensive i know. That's what we're paying in WA.
Our utilities here is killing. I though only us paying this bloody money but most our friend are paying the same. We've looked for alternative like putting up solars and installing water tank.
I've calculated and seems it's doesn't worth.
Solar power initial cost has to be $3000 for 6 panels and requires at least 3 years to breakeven.
Solar hot water cost $2500 which need 3 years too for gas.
Water tank you only rely heavy downpour during autumn and winter. The rest would be dry month. you'll hardly have full rainwater tank.

We've made wrong decision on buying a house without these stuff. Ofcourse if they do, housing price is different...it come both ways...
