QUOTE(kagenn @ Feb 8 2019, 08:08 AM) Kudos to the Msian healthcare industry! Pretty weird that it can beat the countries the doctors trained in. Many of the previous top contenders for top healthcare countries were also not on the list. Not sure if the judging criteria puts them in different categories. https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019...hcare-category/https://thecostaricanews.com/top-6-countrie...the-world-2019/It's a skewed list looking purely from the point of view of an expat....ie what money can buy in countries where the Americans may want to "migrate" to with their retirement funds....hence looking at communication, and private healthcare cost.... It is of course not a reflection of what's available for the normal locals....(although the local rich elite will enjoy the same "quality")....

Everybody knows there is a housing bubble in Sydney and Melbourne.....and everybody knows housing bubbles will inevitably burst, with a lot of pain....
It's like a non fundamental bull runs in the stock market....or bitcoin.....someone's gonna get hurt....like Peter Russell says....

Get your war chest ready....when people start throwing properties, it's time to strike....
A little story....in 1998, in the midst of the Asian currency crisis, many properties in KL went on fire sale as owners geared in USD went belly up....one company was cash rich with little foreign debts....and bought up several properties in the Bukit Bintang area..... Starhill, Marriott and lot10 bought at only 323mil......guess who....lol

QUOTE(kagenn @ Feb 25 2019, 04:15 PM) That's what friends are for right? Haha, I find it ironic that he was telling you off for being too pessimistic when he chose to go all in. Now when tides have turned against him for his recklessness without proper backup he has to come to you for help. I honestly won't know how to deal with a friend like this. I'm stingy as is, and lending big amount of cash I know 80% chance I won't be getting back is just not gonna happen for me. But my cousins said in life must be generous, and in turn one will receive generosity back. Maybe you could tell him your wife is converting a majority of what you have back to RM. Haha.. Only those who built up their fortune over a period of time (unlike some of us newcomers) would have a warchest ready. I'm just hoping to find an okay cost place to buy that's within the first home buyers price range. Hopefully you guys with some reserve funds can secure your loans and get what you're after. =D If you hold off a bit, under the current circumstances, you may get a better deal in the very near future....

QUOTE(aussiebum @ Mar 4 2019, 04:41 PM) at the end of the thread.. I'm just asking for someone who can shed some light on applying for a visa with defacto partner. We might consider applying 189 as well, that seems easier as my partner got more than 80 points. tqvm With 80 points, just apply 189.....even if in prorata profession, should get almost immediate invitation....

Going forward, with the tightening of visa conditions, it is likely less people will be able to qualify, and interest will subside.....
As with the latest rounds of invites, with points cut off at 80, almost nobody will be eligible without the full 20 English points....a near impossible task for most Malaysians....

I don't understand the points revision at all....if you include with and without spouse or defacto, who else is left?....

QUOTE(strawberyeve @ May 8 2019, 05:55 PM) From what i know partner can only provide max of 10 points. I believe it probably mean whether you include with or without spouse/ defacto you can still get 10 points out from it no? If everybody gets 10 points irrespective of whether with or without spouse, why give the 10 points?

The idea is to enable 1st time buyers to be able to start on the property ladder earlier....
With prices around 500k even in remote suburbs, many cannot come up with 100k even after many years....this move enable them to start with 25k and avoid the lmi at the same time....a much more realistic target.....

QUOTE(kagenn @ May 25 2019, 09:58 PM) Though if they're not able to come up with the 100k+ after many years, it should probably flag their inability to possibly repay those loans. Some people are poor voluntary savers....locking in a loan forces them to "save", ie repay their loan....lol

QUOTE(strategist @ Jun 24 2019, 09:49 PM) thanks, what happens if I apply for 189 and fail / not get invited ? Do I get the chance to re-apply after a certain period ? edit: If i graduated from UK with a 4-year undergraduate degree, do I still need Band 8 for IELTS ? Everybody needs English test for the points....how you know you got 80 points?....

QUOTE(strategist @ Jun 25 2019, 09:54 AM) because my dumb ass thought they exempt the english requirement for graduates of higher institutions taught in English, but now I realise the exemption is for "Functional English" and grants 0 points I will probably take the PTE, since it is "easier" ? I did include 5 points from NAATI for Mandarin though. Is it normal to assume a native Mandarin speaker can pass the CCL test easily ? Pte is easier for some people, but the other way round for others....depends how comfortable one is with computers.... remember unlike humans, the system doesn't allow repeat of questions.... Naati get accredited, if proficiency is good, shouldn't be a orinly....

QUOTE(VinluV @ Aug 16 2019, 12:45 PM) Hi Guys. Can i check if anyone here know if its possible to extend PR visa? Long story short i have the approved PR but due to recent financial constraint, i don't think i can move to AU in the next 3-5 years. I'm looking if i can somehow fulfill the minimum 2 years stay in AU to maintain PR after next 5 years. you can enter at the last day of your visa validity....and stay on.....just don't leave until you are eligible for a rrv....

QUOTE(Garysydney @ Aug 18 2019, 11:00 AM) As far as i know, they keep giving you a 1 year RRV but you must satisfy them on why you cannot meet their 2 years out of 5 stay. While on a 1 year rrv visa, they will monitor how long you have stayed in the preceding 5 years - if they are not satisfied that you are serious about staying 2 out of 5 years, they will not grant you any further 1 year RRV - this will in effect mean that you will be forced to stay in Aust until you have fulfilled the 2/5 requirement. When you reflect on this, it means the govt want you to spend at least 40% of your time in Aust. The purpose of a pr visa is that you want to stay in Oz....if you cannot stay 2 out of 5, it means you are not serious about staying, so maybe you should leave.... What people who relocated back have done is to move immediately after obtaining your rrv....then stay out for 5 years....then just before the rrv runs out, make an entry back to Oz.....and restart your Aussie life..... The other way is naturalise, then you can stay out as long as you like.....use mm2h to settle back in msia..... The fact that one wants to keep the rrv or naturalise, means one sees eventually one will return to live and die in Oz.....

QUOTE(VinluV @ Aug 23 2019, 05:23 AM) Oh. What about Renewal of PR? If I stay less than 2 years during my PR, will there be an issue renewing PR? a common misconception.... a pr granted is permanent.....there is no expiry.....you can stay on till you die (of they take it away for treason etc)....no action necessary to keep it.... however, if you ever leave the country, to re-enter, you need a rrv....if you don't leave, you do not need that.....and that rrv is generally valid for 5 years....on expiry, to qualify for another rrv, you need to have lived 2 of the preceding 5 years in oz..... again, if you don't leave oz, you don't need "renewal" of anything....

QUOTE(Red_rustyjelly @ Sep 23 2019, 12:52 PM) A plus to get points in their PR system yes. A minus in terms of financial, imagine staying for 2-3 years, each year cost RM 60-100k per kid. I do know many people who applied without studying in Aussie, and manage to succeed getting their PR. How will doing high school in Oz help with the points?....

QUOTE(Hansel @ Sep 24 2019, 11:48 AM) Yes,.. this is one way,... Getting into a uni there won't be so stringent anymore if the kid studied at their Senior College, right ? Like,... eg, no need to take IELTS anymore,.. as an example only,... there would be many others,... Having studied in secondary schools in Australia does not necessarily exempt you from proof of English proficiency....it depends on the policies of the respective unis....
