My husband trying to enter through 189 and was told by agent to score IELTS band 8.0 to achieve our targeted overall 80 point before we decided to proceed on this as the chances are better to be invited. However, he took PTE 3x and only managed score 7.0 -7.5 and IELTS 3x also 7.5!!For IELTS he kept getting same point  for writing at 6.5 even he followed all the tips . As for listening, speaking & reading.. he got 8.0 for all...so so close!Anyone have encountered this before?

At the moment we only managed to achieve 75 pointers overall.. so dilemma if we should just proceed &  try our luck with skilled assessment...

75 points is enough, if not on a pro rata profession....

Stumbled on this site on the rough timeline of getting invited. Is this legit?seems like auditors and accountant with 70 pointers have not been invited since 2016! 😰😰😰😰

The statistics are pretty accurate....pro rata professions need 80 points now to get immediate invitation.....

Hey guys i am in the midst of submitting for skilled assessment to be accessed under CPA.

After reading the requirement stated in the web, it seems like the english test required is IELTS (academic)

https://www.cpaaustrgalia.com.au/become-a-c...ge-requirements
But at IELTS website, IELTS (general) is meanr for migration

https://www.ielts.org/about-the-test/two-types-of-ielts-test

Pretty confused and just wondering if anyone encountered this in the past that can shed some light on this? Thanks in advance

Regards
*
Both can be used for immigration use, but if you profession has an English requirement too, it needs to be academic...

Hey guys, any tips and study package recommend for PTE? My partner is trying to score as high as possible which is the full 20 migration marks with the new 65 pass rate.

To get the 20points, you need pte 79....all bands....

The crucial part is always getting the full 20 points from English.... otherwise you are at 70points and for ICT applicants, in a long queue....

So before starting, get the English sorted out first....

Documents you can collect and certify along the way, but you can put in your eoi anytime, you don't need to submit anything.... only when they invite you for processing, you need to submit the documents....

http://www.iscah.com/estimates-will-get-189-eoi-invitation/

As you can see from above, with 70 points, you will wait 1 year....so get your IELTS band 8 all components/pte 79.....

You can lodge an eoi anytime.... they don't require any documents....but once they invite you for processing, then you have 1 month to submit all the required documents....

So English first, if 80 points, make sure you get all documents ready as you will get invite the next round (every fortnight)....if 70 points, get into queue now, you have 1 year to get documents ready, including ACS.....

If you manage to get 80 points with further tries at IELTS/pte, then once all documents ready, update your eoi, and based on current information, you will get invite the next round....

Also note that processing is VERY slow lately, 189 taking up to 8-10 months to grant....

If one is sitting on 65-70 points with ICT, one is looking at a 1 year queue....so makes sense to lodge first....if circumstances change you can always alter your eoi claimed points...

But yes, if you cannot prove your claimed points, do not submit at invite....you will get barred from reapplying....

don't forget the south asians. they come in packs.

Yes, the top applications come from the sub continent, and they seem to do well with the computer based PTE, pushing up the average eoi points 10 points since the last year....as recent as 2016, priority processing was done with 65 points!.... extremely rare to get all bands 8 in IELTS....

Latest: doha now only making invites once a month, instead of the previous fortnightly....

The whole system is really grinding to a halt.... processing used to take 4-6 weeks to grant, is now taking 10 months....

Sounds they don't want so many immigrants nowadays, although on paper they are still committed to the same numbers as before....

Australia is cutting its migrant intake quietly:
----------------------------------------------------------
The 30,000 cut in the immigration intake will cost the federal budget $500 million a year,  a Treasury briefing obtained by Fairfax Media shows.

There were 162,000 permanent visas approved in the 12 months ended June 30, a cut from 190,000 the previous year, which Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton described as evidence "the policy is working as it should". The Turnbull government has framed immigration as a key issue for Saturday's byelections, as it road-tested key policies before the next federal election.

The Turnbull government got trounced soundly...so policy reversal?

In any case, like the article said, the reduction was mainly in the skilled migration group, as can be seen in the number of 189s invited since late last year....

Ya with Malaysians I notice overall score of 8 for IELTS is rare. I was pretty shocked to be told this; especially since my parents had always drummed into my ears how important English is- since I was a kid. If i didn't get an 8 I think I wouldn't have dared to tell them, especially my dad (old skool, pre-Merdeka government school system)

IELTS is expensive. And boring. I was bored by the time the reading part came along so I got 7 for that but8/ 8.5 for everything else. So ok la, overall score was 8.My profession required a 7 all round.
*
Actually, lots of msians get overall 8.0 in IELTS....but Oz immigration needs all components band 8 to qualify for the 20 points...

Your result will only qualify you for 10 points.... you got your grant in 2015, that would be enough....but now you need at least >75 points to get immediate invite, which basically means you need full 20 points from English....

I had about 80 points (study in Aus, work experience, qualifications etc)

So mine was quick- I got an invite within 10 days of lodgement, and 55 days later they granted the PR. I got band 8 overall. It's a pity that they're curbing things lah.

Then again my skilled occupation is one that never is popular anyway so I was very, very lucky as it's been removed from the list as of 2017.
*
Up till early last year, it was fast....

Fast invites depends on points....time to grant now is 8-10 months....may get longer....

Cannot get 80 points without the English 20 points....

Hello. Just wanna ask what is the best way to transfer money back to Malaysia bank account from Australia? I mean the cheapest way

I have tried using HSBC Australia. They charged me AUD50 for one transaction, 1-2 working days
*
If not in a hurry, you can use a bank draft, and deposit in a msian bank physically....but the draft will need to come back physically.... however you will still be subject to rather bad exchange rates....

For travel money, apparently Citibank debit cards are cheap withdrawing from an overseas ATM.... almost at spot exchange rates....Gary, may be easier than bringing cash, convert in msia, deposit in msian account....and then use the msian debit card....

Nowadays you got to wait in a queue for about 18 months after you have applied for your Aust citizenship. I have a cousin who applied in Jan 2018 and he probably won't get it till mid-2019. Looks like a lot of people wants to take up Aussie citizenship:

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/afr...815-p4zxl0.html

It's the dibp/dha slowing down everything.... processing of pr used to just take 1-2 months 2 years ago and now takes 8-10 months.... despite selecting less people, 30k less last cycle year....

Not sure why....

when the job advertisement stated that 'The salary package includes all salary on cost, eg. tax payroll, superanuation, etc' does it mean that the salary that i will be getting is  not nett, and i will be further taxed from the amount ?
*
It means that the sum quoted includes all taxes withheld for submission to ird, and super (pension fund) contributions....so yes what you take home is going to be significantly less that the quoted sum....

oh thanks thts helpful. the quoted salary is 75k/annum.. how much is the nett salary/month that one will get? as for super, can one cash out the moment he/she decide to leave australia for good ?
*
At 75k gross, expect nett to be about 55-60k....or about 2400 per fortnight....

Super, not sure if can take out when you leave...

Turnbull in spite of being pro immigration, oversaw a drop in immigrant numbers over the last 2 years as well as ballooning wait for invites and processing time....
