I bought some MQREIT shares today. I now have 12 stocks already.

Sifus, may I know how many different stocks should we have in our portfolio? Some books say 10, some books say can be up to 20. Some say it is the value of the stocks that matter, not the number of different stocks you have.

BTW, what is the difference between this thread and the Stock Market Discussion thread? Isn't it an overlap?  confused.gif

abang, book is book no need follow bulat-bulat. Originality you know?
Hold what you're comfortable of holding.
There's no 1 right answer, because everyone have different capital, different risk exposure, different mindset.

Boss, kalau ikut hati saya, saya taruh semua growth stock.

But at last, I don't have the balls to do it. Otherwise I sai lang Pestech, Press Metal, Classic Scenic, Ta Ann, Protasco, Inari Amertron, etc. So I am sticking with so called "blue chip" stocks for now.  sweat.gif

Let me learn how to crawl first before I walk and then I will run.

That's why I say, is your money you can do whatever you want.
We just share out our opinion on your holdings.
To hold how many counter(s) there's no one correct answer.
Only you know your own risk appetite, you can slowly find it out yourself.
IMHO you might be holding too much counters for a starter.

ABC has 10x EPS than TNB, hence ABC.

P/E = 10

When P = RM13,
E = P / 10
E = 13 / 10 = 1.3
EPS = RM1.3

When P = RM1.3
E = 1.3 / 10 = 0.13
EPS = RM 0.13

Cos I dun agree tnb is good stock then u say like dat liao. Low pe doesn't mean good stock.

If it price doesn't grow then no point right unless u invest for 2% divvy
*
Before Public Bank hit RM 20.00 a lot of people also think it is expensive the price doesn't grow.
Before Dutch Lady hit RM 64.00 a lot of people also think it is expensive the price doesn't grow.
Before Nestle hit RM 80.00 a lot of people also think it is expensive the price doesn't grow.

So before TNB hit RM 15.10 also there's a lot of people think it is expensive the price doesn't grow.
So what's your point? rclxub.gif

Why don't you give better explanation to support your statement?
Eg.

Cons
1. Q1's EPS have been dropping YOY since FY16 & FY17.
2. FY16 Q2 also dropping YOY.
3. A lot of illegal works on tapering meter etc.

Pros
1. Weather
2. Picture say it all

Would you say the same (not cherry picking) for Amway and BAT for the past few years? It's a dynamic world, nothing is fixed for certain.

That's the point I'm trying to make.
How can one quote "If it price doesn't grow then no point right unless u invest for 2% divvy".

I really dunno how the share price will go, I'm not god.
I do my homework, fit my plan, then I invest.

So one shouldn't have said that right? yawn.gif

If we really know how exactly the price will go all of us kaya lo~

Ya agree with your point. I'm not saying tnb is bad stock. In fact it's a good company with its monopoly on the energy sector. Just that I won't put my money in before looking deeper just only base on the pe. There are many other factors like roe and growth of the company which I haven't look into. That's y I can't give my analysis. Tonight I research then give my view point.

Back to pink spider yes I have read a lot of books on investing like random walk on Wall Street, security analysis, chart analysis, etc

Some stocks like maybank the price just fluctuate at certain level. It will grow but maybe in 10 yrs time. Very slow
*
My point is just that I don't think anyone can know how exactly the price will go, people just anticipate.
So many stocks around don't like TNB then look for others lo.
I'm not interested also.

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Mar 4 2017, 11:41 AM)
WOW!

Seriously?
Comparing TNB with PB/DL and Nestle?

LOL!
*
I'm not comparing. Please get your facts right.
Just trying to draw an example, where some people say at certain price is expensive but the share price still going higher.
This is an open market, got people buy got people sell.
In normal mind what is RM 1.00 above they regulated it as EXPENSIVE.
sen stock they say is CHEAP.
Expensive stock can go higher, Cheap stock also can go higher or vice versa.
Just that no one can predict the price. High can always go higher or vice versa.

Who is making a comparison? doh.gif
Orang cakap Apple, lu pergi cakap durian. doh.gif

U talk like that is very dangerous, typical mentality of ppl who get swallowed in MLM schemes. sweat.gif

When u have more control, and u are DILIGENT i.e. put in due efforts, u can potentially earn more.
When u have more control, but you are lazy and/or screwed up big time, your losses can be colossus.

"Lazy" investors are better off paying someone to do it for u, hence the relevance of the unit trust/mutual funds industry.

Don't listen to those sore losers who did not experience it firsthand themselves and only spew cow dungs heard from apeks ahsohs from pasar pagi, there are people who have been consistently beating EPF rate of return with relatively minimal efforts using unit trust funds.
