Those are not beginner snakes. They feed mainly on geckos and you can't just catch the geckos around your house. Make sure he finds you a young captive bred one as they are usually tamer and subjected to considerably less stress.

The venom from a whip snake is not deadly, it's quite mild. but if you are allergic to the venom, then it could be quite dangerous.

It is recommended you start off with a snake that is more suitable for novice level like a king, corn, or ball python.

What Reanne said is correct. Make sure you do your research and find the resources (food for the snake) before buying one.

Dunno what you're thinking but whip snake's bite can be very (VERY) painful although it only have mild venom. Result can be swelling, big area.

Hmm... I rather use the word unpredictable. Every snake have mild venom, it's either they want to bite you or not.

Khaneys, you really need to read more... if someone is offering a whipsnake for sale, just Google for research... I mean don't lah depend on people to tell you which snake to get.... beginner snakes are normally snakes that eat mice and rats... those that eat frogs, geckos and insects are not really handle friendly and many do have venom... also, to get a good beginner snake, Rm200 is not enough at all. I saved alot of my pocket money just to own a cornsnake...

Wah, RM200 budget? You can try local species of snakes because they are cheaper, but do go research on them before buying. RM200 is definitely not going to get you any of the 4 beginner snakes I mentioned earlier.

And also, for RM200, you're not going to get a docile snake easily. I would suggest you save up more money to get a better beginner snake. Breed the mice/rats yourself la, they're very fast breeders, but you would need more than a pair. Or you could try getting frozen rats/mice from tikusniaga, lasts quite awhile and you don't need to worry about pet shops not having stock.
