It was reported in a business publication this week that plans are underway to build two or three towers that will sit directly above the fringe of the rooftop carpark of the MyTOWN Shopping Centre project.

The MyTOWN project in Cochrane, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur is being developed by Boustead Ikano Sdn Bhd (BISB), a 50:50 joint venture between Boustead Holdings Bhd and Ikano Pte Ltd.

Boustead is a government-linked company in Malaysia with a diversified interests in six primary sectors. Singapore-based Ikano Pte Ltd owns and operates IKEA stores in Southeast Asia and under the franchise rights from IKEA System BV. It operates as a subsidiary of Ikano S.A., a privately held international group of companies owned by the founding family of IKEA.

According to the business publication, BISB has provided for structural and infrastructure requirements for a total of three towers in the planning of the shopping centre as it decides whether to build two service apartment towers and one hotel tower, or two service apartment towers and one office tower, or to build only two towers.

The masterplan of the project is being finalised, including the detailed planning of the right product in order to serve the expectations of property buyers in the next three years.

With the addition of residential and commercial components, the entire masterplan will have a gross development value (GDV) in excess of RM3 billion.

pyramid did not do well at all in first 5-8 yrs

velocity is supposed to be the main show
due to greediness JC go grab Putra...... now 2 sides also tak sampai
look at the oversize KT running those malls....gv me a break... pls get someone presentable and stylish to run the show at least!!

My thinking is that Mytown and Velocity malls are having head to head battle now. Boustead will not under estimate Sunway and put its resources in getting great tenants to "counter" Velocity.

The mall battling will take place for a while...So my guess is that the launching of Boustead service apartment, will not be that soon..correct me if l am wrong ..

same same 1. manyak young angmo still like to go shopping mall shop. at sing how many big famous mega malls they got?
and their population are much more concentrate at 1 spot also due to smaller land. good enough buying power to support all the malls.
but also not all mall ong.
it is not about how asean live. looking back here bigger land.. population also not as concentrate + manyak satellite city.
the problem is now at malasia here just way tooooo many mega malls and so little buying power to support all the mega malls.

worry not, competition always good for us consumers icon_rolleyes.gif even for retailers, probably they will see rental rates flatten. im already very amazed by one recent mega mall's quoted rate. drool.gif

Hi boss, i know which megamall quoted u n tht mall keep delaying brows.gif brows.gif truth is most underperforming mall managers will continue getting strangled by the retailers who r suffering themselves.. n these same retailers expand into malls with low chance of making it n die again n the cycle continues cry.gif cry.gif

MyTown may be leading after "revealing" the tenants.
But Sunwai has experience in mall management. Not easy be beaten.
Too early to make a conclusion at this point as the two malls are not open yet.
Anyway, the customers are blessed by having choices to of malls to visit

Mytown will be just like the curve+IPC+IKEA damansara....but dun under estimate sunway velocity as well....anyhow, this area should be the commercial golden triangle for Cheras area...IOI city mall also getting better nowadays in terms of tenants choices and also weekend crowd is very promosing..

Yea man, every time I drop by ikea/IPC area is because of ikea only and will have my meal in IKEA as well. As for IPC the most is just wander around, don't quite see the crowd even during weekend.

Given the congested crowd in ikean dining area, it is definitely at the expense other f&b in the mall. Hope mytown will do better la.

yea im sure u heard also haha. to be honest my face hard to keep straight when i hear. and they desperate until say "still can nego", "all package can discuss" and follow up even more aggressive than mah sing external agents (and thats really aggressive brows.gif)

OK lets see how this turns out as they have underperformed in ALL malls other than pyramids.. Mytown never reveal the tenants, the tenants reveal themselves to us tongue.gif tongue.gif

Indeed many Fnb customers in ikeas usually lost to the overhyped meatballs

With the putramall lesson and recent tenant "shifting" to MyTown, in your opinion, do you think sw will continue staying this way to impact business or it will perform "failure analysis" for improvement?

imo confidence in the company lost, retailer will stay away no matter what, like hello boss says kv is full of malls. even if sw give free rent, one outlet reno and furnish etcetc need prob few hundred k...? why would retailer risk? they just go for the proven one.

hi boss if u see sunwai offer free reno etc pls inform me tongue.gif on a side note putramal the free rental period ended up longer n until last quarter still hardly contributing to ths reit..even their office tower n hotel thr performing vry badly!!

Looking at the tenant list posted above which mostly i post before, u cn alrd see a few tenant like mango cotton hnm jump ship..

On a side note, MNG delayed their opening in putramals fr 4-5 months despite the store being ready..

If you wanna go putrazz, be prepared for:

1) Faulty escalatorss (AT LEAST 3-4 escalators), & it already spoiled for 6 MONTHS!!!
2) Lots of GHOST sections especially Asian Avenue a.k.a GHOST AVENUE as that place is extremely QUIET!
3) NO Anchor tenants for fashion (which is weird for a mall)
4) Parking sucks..& expensive
5) Tenants closed early at 9PM cause NO business even on public holidays

This is a mall that make you wanna leave in less than 1 hour & wont come back again ever..IMO

If MNG pull out from the shitty putrazz earlier.. that would be great.. I went there on last weekend & hardly see any people inside MNG.. I guess their decision to pull out from velocity is a good decision~

Is there a huge difference for the parking rates during event and non-event at PWTC? hmm.gif

I thought it's standardized rates at all times.. sweat.gif

The F&Bs at LG floor are doing quite good, but the ones at upper floors are just OK and some of it suffers badly~

Yes..When I was small, i always asked my parents to bring me to eat at McD (during Yaohan time) if we plan to go to Yaohan mall.

The newly-refurbished SP mall doesnt have any popular fast food outlets like KFC, McD, pizza hut, etc.. sad.gif

IMO.. sunwaii is aiming for "big fish" as their main target market of which you could see the tenants at here are mostly mid-end to high-end brands for THAT area (chow kit)..that's why they don't want mcd, kfc, blahblahblah..

However, the result turns out to be NOT what they expected.. Rarely even see any "big fish" from kenny hills, for e.g. each time I visits the mall.. & it turns out to be those "small fish" from surrounding area that comes to the mall who perceives as the tenants at here are too "HIGH END" for them.. As a result, most of them coming to this mall just to enjoy free aircon which means they are not buying or buying less which is definitely not helping the tenants at here (where majority of it suffers badly except F&Bs).. doh.gif doh.gif

although i don like to admit the "failure" of spm (as my condo depends on its performance, somewhat), I have to agree with a number of the statements above...

they should attract more affordable f&b outlets like mcd, kfc, shilin and more mass market higher end restaurants like chili's.. go open las vacas and red lobster for what... (although i love the las vacas burgers)
their apparel outlets are okay with h&m, uniqlo, mango and padini..

hopefully its performance improve soon smile.gif

Most customers going there more more like just lepak lepak there instead of shopping. The last time I went there still not much tenant inside. Most just lepak on the bench. Major tenant also like uniqlo and f&b only

The tenant list consider as quite good for cheras area.. luckily Mango pulled out from Velocity & open at Mytown which have better prospect, IMO~ rclxms.gif

Does anyone have the tenant list for Sunway Velocity? it seems like there is still NO news for the tenants that will open at velocity.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

this give signal that sunway piramid sucess,
not mean all mall manage by sunway will sucess.

same to pavilion,
pavilion run good not mean BJCC and damansara will run good also.

it is very hard to run a sucess mall

Just look at how IGB manage Mid Valley.. 99.8% occupancy rate, have all kinds of shops in one mall and the crowd are still massive as always even though many new malls opened recently.. biggrin.gif

Boustead Ikano confident of 85% occupancy rate at MyTOWN

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Ikano Sdn Bhd is confident that the MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Cheras will achieve a targeted occupancy rate of 85% by the time the mall opens on Nov 15.

General manager Jo Hogsander said most shopping centres usually opened with around 75% occupancy.

He is not worried that there would be stiff competition in the neighbourhood with the upcoming Sunway Velocity – another mall launching this year just 800m away.

“Our occupancy rate is already 70% plus, so we are quite confident of meeting our target,” he told StarBiz, adding that MyTOWN had secured tenants such as Village Grocer, GSC, Mango and Uniqlo, among others.

An added boost would be the linkage to Ikea Cheras, the largest outlet mall in the country. MyTown would have a net lettable area (NLA) of 1.1 million sq ft.

why mytown keep saying its gona open on nov 15 when it looks like 8 mnths-1 yr before opening. if they intend to open nov15 with most tenants, they need to handover by now. looks very incomplete for now. btr target raya crowd instead tongue.gif

Ya... Velocity +MyTown totally bring a new dynamic to eastern KL... No reason to go up damansara or even Midvalley

MyTOWN opening delayed to 1Q2017

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): The opening of the RM3 billion gross development value MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Cheras is delayed from the initial target of November this year, amid headwinds faced by the shopping mall segment.

MyTOWN, developed by Boustead Ikano Sdn Bhd — a 50:50 joint venture between Boustead Holdings Bhd and Ikano Pte Ltd — will instead see its opening sometime in the first quarter of next year (1Q17), said MyTOWN general manager Joakim Hogsander.

“We are leveraging the back-to-the-city crowd after Lunar New Year celebrations. This also gives a longer lead time for our tenants to prepare for our opening celebrations,” he told The Edge Financial Daily.

MyTOWN — located right beside Malaysia’s second Ikea outlet in Cheras — is expected to emulate the success of The Curve in Mutiara Damansara, which was also developed by Boustead Ikano.

It was reported that the developer was targeting a 85% occupancy rate by November — the group’s initial targeted opening date — and had secured tenants including Village Grocer, GSC, Mango and Uniqlo.

The mall will be competing with Sunway Group Bhd’s recently opened Sunway Velocity Mall, located within the vicinity of MyTOWN.

The delay in the opening of the mall comes amid pressures faced by the shopping mall business, including the current oversupply situation, lower tourist arrivals, weak domestic retail spending, lacklustre consumer sentiment and intense competition for tenants.

JMHO, Boustead relied a lot on Mytown's performance to sell/launch their residential...is its residential's critical success factor...so Mytown must succeed ...else the subsequent residential launching either has to delay accordingly else tak laku....

We dont need these much malls. What we need is eating home cooked meals, spending quality time with the family at home or at some recreational park/beach/forest reserve, do some gardening at home, balik kampung to see the parents, go to church/mosque/temple to practice ur religion.

Depend.. if jalan jalan and no shopping, the mall also cannot sustain.

If shopping and dining in the mall then definitely will save more by stay at home and cook urself.

PETALING JAYA (Dec 2): MyTOWN Shopping Centre (MyTOWN), which will open for business on Feb 16 next year, is targeting to attract two million footfalls in its first month of operations.

Jointly developed by Boustead Holdings Bhd and Ikano Ptd Ltd, MyTOWN is located on Jalan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur and is structurally connected to IKEA Cheras.

With a net-lettable area (NLA) of 1.1 million sq ft, MyTOWN has a capacity for more than 400 stores. The shopping centre announced its grand opening date during its tenant engagement event recently.

“The design of the building, the tenant mix, the facilities and services are all carefully thought out to give shoppers a ‘Customer Journey’ that will make them want to come back to MyTOWN again and again,” said MyTOWN director Datuk Koo Hock Fee in a statement today.

He said the shopping centre has the potential to reach over five million shoppers residing within a 30-minute drive and targets 28 million footfalls for 2017.

Meanwhile, Joakim Hogsander, general manager of MyTOWN said the shopping centre is also equipped with soundscapes compositions to create a more welcoming and relaxing ambience. This attraction is not available in any other shopping centre in the country.

PETALING JAYA (Jan 17): The opening date of MyTOWN Shopping Centre has been readjusted from Feb 16 to March 16 due to requests from tenants.

According to a statement released today, the tenants had requested for the postponement as they needed more time to complete their shop fit-outs.

“After much consideration, the management team decided to align with the request because we always believe in delivering a comprehensive support to our tenants, which will eventually deliver a fantastic customer experience when we open,” the statement read.

To recap, the shopping centre announced its opening date as Dec 16, 2016 during a tenant engagement event last year. The date was then pushed to Feb 16, 2017.

Jointly developed by Boustead Holdings Bhd and Ikano Pte Ltd, MyTOWN is located on Jalan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur and is structurally connected to IKEA Cheras.

With a net lettable area of 1.1 million sq ft, MyTOWN has a capacity for more than 400 stores.

escalators are terrible..many escalators are.rusty, stains, dirty and looks low class, go check out velocity escalators

expose light through in the middle of the mall
expose roof wire hanging here and there
out of no where some cheap wood covers in the main concourse
unfinish doors and cement render right in front of main entrance

Gf got some crowd....less on the first floor....as u go up...well there is nothing
much there
many shops not open....Mytown force to sponsor renovation cost for anchor tenants as i herad fr a retail consultant. .u can see
even 2nd floor onwards got many cheap looking temporary stalls just to make it look less empty

70% shop opened is bull shit....i doubt even confired tenant got 50%

VERY NICE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE!!??.....well only if u like shopping in less crowded and not many shop open mall..

Mytown was lucky to secure Z and M else the whole mall will look worse .....but was told they pay a hefty price on the offer

It's good to see the fnb having diverse supply to cater for mainly oriental markets from local, regional to oriental, inclusive of prosperous meat. Observed a Jap restaurant also sells this meat.

Walkable to IKiA entrance internally. So for IKiA shoppers who wish to eat (not in their canteen) this place is an alternative.

Entered from the back and parked at high floor...drove on cylindrical ramps upwards for at least 4 levels, reminded me of the round ramps at Paradiam or Log10 but this ramp is wider to accommodate two cars at a time...
One advantage is that, from this level 4 parking to cinema, it is only one floor difference, just need one escalator to reach the entrance of cinema.

The central town space is a bit "confined" by pillars although it is tall for multiple storey height.

It looks not wide enough to provide an impression of grand entrance court despite having a great sunken garden and town park in front of it(not shown in picture)...

Whether it is Aria or low quality finishing or a copied version, it is an alternative option for shoppers around this area to choose from. Not saying the shoppers around this area like it, but at least can save save a journey to the "real ones".

i hate many storeys spiral ramp car parks...u have to go all the way back to find the entrace of the sipral ramp........
and the underground tunnel entrance is actually for IKEA....it will looks very messy in future cos people will be pushing big trolleys loading and unloading furnitures and shoppers for mall will be rubbing and banging shoulders ....not that kind of thing u will see in a mid high end mall

In terms of crowd response, IOI city mall is "far" from comparison....

Not sure why the crowd here is less if compared to Velo opening... After festival season? Lack of advertisement? Less promotion/offer? Crowd being pulled to MATA fair this weekend?

Need to monitor further...

yes.. indeed many shops are not occupied yet.. quite a number of temporary stalls from 1st floor onwards.. the tiles that they are using are indeed cheap and easily to be stained with dirt.. I could see some tiles are already stained with dirt on G floor.. no soap dispenser in toilets! doh.gif

From my observation, occupancy rate is just 50%, another 50% are not occupied yet..

However, the crowd for Saturday noon is quite OK.. but a lot of people were just window shopping.. lol

Z & M looks empty from outside... hmm.gif hmm.gif

To me, Mytown is one of the recent mall that managed to attract multiraces.
Probably due to location and surrounding,
May not be as bad as expected.
But can't compare with power ikano standard and there is different Damansara and Cheras....

I thought the mytown boss said that the mall has got 70% occupancy? I also thought that the delay was due to request from the tenants? Why still not opened yet? Where is the foot fall?

yes.. viva home is really dying badly now that Giant supermarket has moved out from the mall.. cinema is empty most of the time..

1 shamelin is doomed to fail ever since day 1.. confusing layouts like a maze and it feels really creepy to walk inside the mall as it is extremely quiet

As for CS and IKON, I have never been to both of these malls before and not planning to visit.. lol laugh.gif

Difference in parking rate, will only trigger shoppers to leverage the one that offers lower rates. These two buildings are internally walkable and accessible. So, there comes a day when IKiA (using the data above) is out of parking space for its customers, the rate will be adjusted and synchronized with BandarKu...

By the way, mytown's location has the best unobstructed view of kl city center skyline! Times Square - KL Tower - TRX Signature Tower - KLCC the whole stretch in a single file! If u're jamming the way down from mytown upper floor carpark u'll know what i mean. <3

- Worst parking ever!  Took me 1 hour plus from 6th floor parking to ground floor. There is a lot of bottle neck on the way out of the parking, some requires you to drive like a snake, and along the exit, cars exiting keep joining the already jam packed queue. Then when you reach the spiral exit, cars from others floor also join together creating a stupidly long bottleneck. And the guards there have ZERO idea on traffic management, just keep waving their hand and blowing whistle.

- Car park exits to unfinished road. I am literally driving on uneven gravel when I exited the car park. I am not lost, and this is where the guards directed me to, as well as hundreds of other cars!

- Even from outside going to the car park, you have to figure where, because of insufficient sign boards. Then you realise the entrance to the car park is located way back at the mall.

MV also had traffic issues either entrance or/and exit for a number of years. At peak hours, the cars queue at the outside like a series of strings.....
It took them a number of years to make some reliefs....

Let's monitor to see if this mall improves the traffic and parking.....

Takng MRT is one alternative.
Looking at the surrounding, it is not without potential solution...
Is the basement parking another alternative?
How about parking at IKiA and walk across internally?
Is there any direct access from Maju expressway?
Will the rear road (after exit) be utilized to allow full lanes usage?

After all, it's free parking for now. Not saying cannot demand for now...
Sure can demand more when there's paid parking later ...

Mytown's crowd on yesterday evening, much lesser than 1st week of opening but still OK as parking is still free..

there are still a lot of empty lots even after 1 month of opening.. hmm.gif

btw, GSC will be opening soon at Mytown which have Dolby Atmos, D-Box, GSC MAXX features and will have THX as well.. blush.gif

there are still many vacant lots on every floor except on supermarket floor, even F&Bs on upper floor were not doing so well from what i observe, like 1 or 2 tables or totally empty doh.gif

There is just too many malls these days, actually myTown is really a nice mall, very spacious and layout is simple and straightforward, in fact i find it more cozy to walk than velocity.. just unfortunate as it is now at the wrong timing of the economy and there is no office crowd to support the mall.

yes.. i also feel mytown's layout is nice and spacious which provide more comfortable feeling for people to walk around than velo mall..

too bad that the no. of empty lots might be turnoff for people to visit this mall although it's situated next to IKEA.. and yes, oversupply of malls is one of the factors as well as bad economy hmm.gif

Last week before crossing the road, l managed to ask lady in RapidKL uniform on why the walkaway to MineTown was not ready.
She pointed to the MineTown and replied it's MineTown punya decision....
Not sure how true the statement was....
But l started to feel like MineTown doesn't care for short term.

I wonder the direct link from Machu expressway to spiral car park is open.... Few weeks ago not yet...

for me its quite cozy to walk in this mall, but not for the purpose of shopping, haha, cause limited choice. outside topic, went klcc yesterday, jam pack like hell, seriously, hell, many retarded locals and especially foreigners walking without looking and BAM, banging to each other, felt like hell.

so, for a nicer stroll and environment, i prefer mytown, if there could be more tenant, then good. dont like velo super lc workers.

I actually been to this mall couple of times already, favors it more than velocity as like you say, i also think it is a cozy place to walk, tried the GSC maxx there as well. Not sure about the brand variety but so far it has pretty similar brands as velocity right?

honestly, quite some space is empty at the moment. velo have more tenants numbers i would say. but there are some new brand here, food wise, there are sushi zanmai, absolute thai, pho(vietnamese cuisine), sushi jiro, nandos, bari uma, korean pal sil sam kyeok sal (8 taste bbq) n my favorite sukiya is here, pavillion's sukiya is so pack, i once queue for almost 1hour for lunch. haha

Another visit earlie (without under pass) l had to cross the dangerous road with no flat divider (to stand and pause) in the middle of the road... (all barricades)

What takes them so long to complete the above items(which really draw crowds)?
Minetown management really have to put in efforts making the mall great and not just rely on spillover advantage Ikia..

ever since velo bridge completed.. more and more commuters stop at Maluri MRT station and walk all the way to velo mall to do shopping especially youngsters.. hardly see them empty-handed..

I’m not really sure if IPC mall at Mutiara Damansara is handle by same people of MyTown & Ikea here in Cheras.

If yes, then I’m doubt they way they manage here as well bcz IPC shopping mall is going down the drain compared to surrounding... the mall is not performing at all, and latest, they do a major renovation to reattract the crowd and retails.😓

Evening just now, l happened to cross the road from MRT stn to minetown. The good news was barricades were replaced by normal divider Pedestrians can stand and wait for the other half of the traffic.

The underpass from/to MRT stn is not open yet. I randomly asked a Rabid staff in uniform. He indicated that the underpass has completed the construction and it is expected to open by either year end(within a week) or early next year. So let's wait and see until early next year.....

From the day that Mytown opened its doors to the public, I have not heard any news about putting residential blocks on top of it.

Bear in mind, I do recall reading an article about an interview with Boustead's boss some time back and the scale model does include it. I wonder if its scrapped or maybe they changed the plans to put its residential component on an adjacent plot of land which is currently occupied by the now inoperable MyTown operation office? hmm.gif

At the moment they seem to be focusing on One Cochrane, tho (which isn't doing to well in sales currently).

visited mytown today. Crowd is OK and but seems like quite a number of outlets have closed down at mytown.. especially small F&B kiosks at supermarket level, e.g komugi, la juiceria, cornery popcorn, laksa, etc..


anyone knows what happened to this mall? even those vacant shops at level 2 onwards will be replaced by co-working office space which will occupy quite a number of lots, including level 3 empty lots which have been vacant ever since mytowwn opened.. hmm.. are they struggling to get new tenants? hmm.gif

Well for one most people prefer Sunway Velocity over this. This place depends mostly on spillover from IKEA. This mall won't be successful until TRX is fully up and running.

Residence? Not till One Cochrane is fully sold and the "phase 2" of it is launched and fully sold off.

This mytown mall has far better underground mrt connection compare to sunway velocity mall. IKEA just too strong that's suck up all the customers, situation just like the damansara IKEA. Luckily velocity mall doesn't get affected like The Curve at damansara.

It'll be great if Isetan or Robinsons set up shop in MyTown once Parkson leaves.

But not sure if it's going to be another co-working space or it's going to be partitioned up into more lots to be rented out. Suria KLCC did the latter when Parkson moved out a few months back.

They're affected, I agree, but I don't think they'll disappear anytime soon. At most, they'll remain resilient despite these 'disruptions'.

Kind of reminds me of the video game industry a decade ago. Some corporate figures were screaming that gaming on the PC/laptop is dying due to piracy and singing the tune that the consoles will reign supreme (Google 'PC Gaming is dying' and you'll see the results and the eventual counter-claims). Now? The former is still going strong and going toe-to-toe with the consoles.

Now it's the mobile platform trying their best to be a 'mobile' computer to replace the PC and laptops as the ultimate everyday device. Don't see less demand for the latter two and they're still going strong.

we have yet to witness the revolution of 5G (perhaps 6G soon) yet.

even if they continue, the form and substance will not be ground flr Perfume, 1st flr ladies and etc.

were you born to the era of independent departmental stores like Emporium and another janapense brand Hanyu? or revisit your google will do.

department stores are just an anchor tenant in a shopping mall. They are NOT the shopping malls.

while many other shopping malls still have a department stores as part of their main anchor tenants, gone is the day when departmental stores is representing the mall.

Ekocheras Mall doesn't have a department store and this is one of the newest malls opened last year.

Department stores can't keep up with the times. They keep stocking cheapo, out-of-date clothes. How many people still wanna wear "Camel Active", "Polo House", "Snails Original" or some funny sounding wannabe-Italian name, with baggy cutting and 80's patterns? Even unkers also shop at Uniqlo now.

Physical clothes still can beat or complement online buying. Clothes you still need to try, or feel the material. Or you want it right now, instead of wating 1-10 days. Uniqlo you can try, then order online if don't have your size. Still doing very well. As long as the design is up-to-date and value is there.

Retain shops survival will be getting very tough due to online shopping.
Many stores close down their outlet due to high rental and overhead every mth.
And dun forget we have way too many shopping malls in Klang Valley now but not so much of crowd and not all has good buying power now.

Malaysia has finally seen a Covid-19 cluster related to a shopping mall, albeit infections are so far are limited to staff.

According to Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (photo), the 436 mall staff were screened for Covid-19 and only 10 were tested positive so far.

Covid-19: Cheras mall says it has replaced all its security guards [SIZE=7]
PETALING JAYA: MyTown Shopping Centre says it is working closely with the authorities, partners and service providers to ensure that the mall is a safe place for Malaysians after 10 of its security guards tested positive for Covid-19.
The mall said that a total of nine outsourced security guards and one of its security officers tested positive for Covid-19.

"Our security officer that tested positive is currently in quarantine and is in good health with no symptoms.
"The rest of the identified cases were outsourced security guards living together in the same housing estate that the Health Ministry is investigating as the origin point," it said in an email to The Star on Friday (May 8) night.

On Thursday (May 7), the Health Ministry identified a new cluster of positive Covid-19 cases among security guards at the mall located in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.
The Ministry noted that 10 positive cases were detected involving nine Nepalis and a Malaysian.
The mall added that the Covid-19-positive outsourced security guards last worked at the mall on April 26, adding that they have not been deployed at the mall since April 30.
"All MyTown co-workers identified through contact tracing were sent for test and came back with negative results," it said.
It also said deep cleaning and sanitisation works have been carried out at its premises from April 30.
"Above and beyond the Health Ministry's requirements, MyTown was proactively closed to the public on May 3 to continue thorough and repeated deep cleaning and sanitisation," it said.
The mall added that they have replaced all its security guards with new ones from another agency.
"The safety of our shoppers, partners and co-workers is our top priority and as such we continue with our contact-less screening of visitors entering the mall, social distancing measures and working closely with our tenants to ensure MyTown KL is a safe meeting place for all.
"MyTown KL continues to operate as normal under the conditional movement control order guidelines," it said.

Seems like many of the tenants already closed down.. mph, giordano, godiva, chaps, esprit, tomei, cake house, cellini, etc... lots of hoardings on 1st and 2nd floor..

Most malls will be way worse than this in a few months. Quite a few malls are like this already.

Even shops outside in commercial area also hit badly with many starting to close.
