QUOTE(jamescal @ May 19 2017, 08:54 PM) Jumping back in (I usually just lurk lol) to update Wow previous edi 6k, another 20% is gonna be above 7k edi. Good job bro!Lompat to new place, managed to secure 25% more - tried to push for 30-40 but low years of exp against my favour. This despite the fact that I am extremely qualified (serious - I know my industry) for the role, well-recommended by a manager there (former colleague) and I know the new place is desperate for people to handle this function (now memang babi buta). Sifu-sifu who achieve banyak $$ at younger age, how do y'all push for that harder knowing the company (esp fuddy-duddy ones with bureaucratic HR) will always counter with your experience? imho years does not always equal capability or talent. QUOTE(NicoRobinz @ May 23 2017, 07:14 AM) Seeing you all have very high salary when experience is about the same as me makes me feel pretty bad about myself. Don't feel bad about it. I believe everyone needs to feel being demotivated and depreciate in order to succeed in future undertakings. Company also announced no increment this year due to bad economy and company doesn't make much profit. Can't really say that I work super hard, but i managed to finish all my job despite we are now in short of staffs. Even the higher management think i did a good job and constantly get compliments. that doesn't earn me higher salary but more work and need to stay back for important meetings without OT. Sometimes the meeting can last for almost two hours. My working hour is 9pm -6pm and there are times i need to stay back until almost 8pm. Even some of the staffs work at 10pm - 7pm already balik. I come late to work and got cut RM20. Zzzzz.... Feel very demotivated right now. on the bright side, i can listen to music while doing work. otherwise, i would have run way. I have also been in bad situation before, Chinaman company for 1 year +. I tahan and tahan. I tahan and at the same time I find better opportunity to jump. I managed to find 28.6% increment for my next job. So don't feel bad about yourself. Learn as much as you can, pick up new skills if you given a chance. You'll be grateful for that when new opportunity comes along. QUOTE(ThisWorldisWeird @ May 23 2017, 09:38 AM) Job Title : Communication Representative If you have knowledge in digital marketing, don't feel bad. You are the future for our generation! World is changing right now. Every company needs digital marketing. If you have DM knowledge, pick up more and learn more. My friend who is in DM field, his salary almost 7k every month now. Go office do some coding, maintenance server, then sit there goyang kaki and do freelance. Job Desciption : Communication & Digital Marketing Years spent in company : 8 months Company : P&C Industry : Digital Marketing Tenure : n/a Employment Level : Junior Experience before joining : 0 Highest paper qualification/ education background : BA Comm, MA English salary : RM2800 Location: PJ Age:24 Seeing the trend here, plenty of IT and Engineers with great opportunities. Wonder what can I do to be successful? I know my study field has been a mistake, but no use regretting it now.. QUOTE(harizdesu @ May 23 2017, 10:33 AM) i am happy and not happy at the same time.. i feel like there is nothing motivates me anymore.. the company also is not doing well.. Not good enough IMO. Find at least 20% salary increment. And don't forget, you will need some time to adjust your life in new company. Would you want to jeopardize your current job for 12.5% increment? Not worth the risk IMO.the only thing that motivates me is to see my friends there.. and earn to support my family.. i'm not sure about the career progression but seeing it as a bigger company, maybe career progression is better.. i dont mind about the location, is not that far.. only 30km from my home.. but the benefits are quite similar to my current company.. and only offers very little increment.. u would be sad to hear it lol i can say that, the differents from my current salary 2.8k to the new offer 3.15k, is 2 years increment in my current company |

QUOTE(ThisWorldisWeird @ May 23 2017, 11:16 AM) IT knowledge not really. But you definitely need to know some basic IT stuff. You can check with your friends who work as DM. QUOTE(harizdesu @ May 23 2017, 11:20 AM) if the new company can offer better increment and bonus, is it still not worth? How long you need to wait for raise and bonus?? You need to justify it yourself by doing the calculation. Like my case; I left before increment. But I justified myself by checking both side salary and the bonus that I can get if I stay with the company. salary wise, let say, my current company offers only rm100 increment for these few years.. the new company can offer more than that.. If you want some guideline, better get at least 15% increment.. Else really no good to jump. Cause you cannot assure that you can get along with the people there. Like my case. |

QUOTE(harizdesu @ May 23 2017, 02:22 PM) thats my only concern now, increment and bonus.. my current company cannot offer high increment and bonus (last 2 years was ex gratia Yes. Another reason of me not taking contract is because is too risky. If the company decided not to take you in, you need to find another job. For me is all about stability, salary, career growth, immediate superior and of course the management.the new company can, from what i heard.. got bonus at least 1 month and increment is higher.. but its contract thou.. a bit risky i think.. need to pray a lot so that i can be absorbed to permanent.. |

QUOTE(zapdos9 @ May 25 2017, 11:08 AM) Hi guys, I would like to hear what's your opinion on jumping ship increments. I see the increment more than 20% is only worth jumping. So the increment is based on your basic salary only or do you include your fixed allowance in the calculation also? Look for only basic increment on 20% or above. Other allowance take it as bonus cause not every company will give you that. |

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Jun 4 2017, 07:52 PM) I asked for a 100% increment in one of the interview I attended, with some other perks that are not norm. They are lacking people to fill the role. The department head and his director both are fine with it, the HR made some noise saying its not the company policy to raise so much from the previous salary. End up many ding dong HR offered a 80% raise but other company offered me a job with better prospect so I turned it down. Mind to share what field and your expertise? From what I see is the value one could bring into the company, not what his previous salary was. Never know what's the reason behind the HR's approach. |

That's why never take the salary information in this thread so serious. Yes some might be providing real salary but always take it as pinch of salt.
And don't bother your salary with other individual with different field. First of all, different field, the salary definitely have difference; supply demand of the workforce, etc. Only compare yourself with another individual with same/similar field. |

QUOTE(honesty tan @ Jul 5 2017, 04:27 PM) The thing is, Cert is still important as the deciding factors comes from Employers (they are the decision makers). Unless, the skills are applied in Entrepreneurship. I have seen many cases for those without certs or just diploma, they actually perform better than Degree graduate. However, their pay is limited by the scale / system hence no way for them to grow further till they advanced the studies. Cruel but real in many MNCs. Yes that is one sad truth that is happening in Malaysia. We are still developing country hence many things we still based on paper instead of looking at skills and ability to solve problem. But many entrepreneur are going to the bold move, going the daring line and start to use people with caliber instead of certs. I am about to get my double degree soon. Let's hope everything goes well. Been 3 years I suffer without a degree to find a job. But my hardwork pays off. Got into a big retail company in Malaysia. Bersyukurlah for what I got and what I've been through. |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Jul 9 2017, 03:13 PM) Hi all, I need some help here. You can try applying jobs that are doing what you did in previous work. Something like sustainability or corporate social responsibility. Then you can ask for the salary you deserves without thinking if your experience could put to use. I am technically not a fresh graduate (graduated in June 2015), but for 2 years I worked in a non-profit organization as executive level, one year in Malaysia and one year overseas. Both years salary were way below average (below RM2000) because I mainly work for my self development and contribution. Now I am finishing and going for a "real" corporate job, and since I am not really a fresh grad, how should I tell my expected salary? My concerns below: 1. Even though I have 2 years working experience, it's in a youth-run non-profit so it's not giving me the same experience as working in companies, so I can't say I am better or same level as others who worked for 2 years. 2. Even so, I wish to apply some jobs that are not targeted for fresh grad with 0 experience, because I want to challenge myself more and I think I can cope with it quickly (then, it comes to concern #3 below). 3. Since my past 2 jobs gave me low salary but I am applying for non-fresh-grad jobs, how should I tell my expected salary? Some jobs I am applying are offering RM4k and above, should I tell my expected salary as fresh grad (2.7~3k?) or just slightly below the estimated offer (3.5k)? Thanks in advance for your help! |
