The beta Speedtest didn't work on my desktop Chrome. hmm.gif
*
Just tested working on desktop Safari, Chrome & Firefox. Must disable AdBlock then only can work. If AdBlock is on then clicking Begin Test no effect. I'm on Mac OS X 10.8.4. Latest version of FF and Chrome but old Safari.

Me too for iTunes App Store downloads but not all apps, just a minority of them. Right now, Asphalt 8 is going really slow for me.

Hi
Need recommendation....what is the best router and affordable for unifi 50mbps package
*
I like & heartily recommend Cisco, Ubiquiti & Mikrotik. Currently using Mikrotik, most affordable of the lot.

what's the point of them changing the adapter?

seriously, any improvement?
*
The only reason I can think of is that it's a fire hazard.

TM Modem? What brand? Huawei?

TM just came last week and change my TM Huawei Modem adapter(spoilt) for my maxis ftth.

If they change to the fire hazard adapter, then I am in big trouble.

Can anyone please show your existing TM Modem adapter image? The old one and the new one(after recent replacement).

Want to identify if the fire hazard adapter is given to me.

The image shown here is the TM Modem adapter given to me last week.
*
One of my BTUs is the Alcatel-Lucent one. The whitish one. This is the letter I got. Replacement not done yet. As you can see there's no reason given for the replacement except to improve it.

I didn't get one for the black Huawei one.

Fire hazard? shakehead.gif Obviously he's bullshitting
*
TM didn't give a reason in their letter. The only conclusion I came to was that the adaptor is the problem and the only thing I can think of is that it's a fire hazard. Maybe the BTU may consume more power and some adapter might not support that high amount of current. That usually leads to overheating, rubber melting, wires touching and then internet down.

Thanks. Looking for the C7 actually. What about stores other than Ookas but with the CIMB discount? They any good?
*
My friend bought the Archer C7 from gemfive.com.my last week with a 30% discount. It was 428 less 30% = 300. Not sure about shipping. I'll post the link if I find it or you can just search for it.

Edit: The code is HAPPY30 for the 30% off. I bought a DAP-1665 last month (also for 30% off but diff code) and it was free shipping so I assume it's also free shipping for the C7.

I guess it is due to the reliability of that power adapter. The power adapter failed on a lot of people.
*
That's a good reason and less worrying than mine. It's nice to see TM being proactive about BTU failures.

Btw, you have a good review site. I was looking for an AP and came across your site while googling. In the end I settled for the DAP-1665 due to budget constraints. It would be nice if you could include the RRP in your reviews.

buy it for rm300 is really really cheap tho....u should told us from the begining. cry.gif ....but the happy30 code only for seleted items right? this week doesnt have router listed.
*
Thought you all know about it already. I also found out about it from this forum, thanks to khalid21 I bought a DLink, some Nestle foodstuff and electrical appliances. The discount applied to all of them.

The Archer C7 is here but sold out.
http://www.gemfive.com.my/electronics/comp...outer-archer-c7

But gotta be careful, some products are marked up quite high so check prices first. The DAP-1665 is a good deal too. RM250 cheapest in LYP that I can find. I paid RM195 for it and free shipping.

hmmm, i do receive a letter/notice stated that the technician want to replace the adapter unit but im not at home. so they asking me to call the toll free to setup appointment to change it.

it is true or fake type? i do receive similar letter about improvement on unifi.
*
The letter looks real enough. You can always call TM 100 to confirm. I'm sure there'll be bad hats somewhere thinking of ways to take advantage of this situation.

mine use the newer version of adapter already, same as in the picture shown above. maybe the manufacture recalled back all adapter and replace with upgrade one.

Guess so. Mine was installed quite long ago. The Alcatel about 2 years. The Huawei about 4 yrs ago. But I only receive letter for the Alcatel.

I am back to this topic again which is very sad because i have some problem again  rclxub.gif

As some of you know I just change my unifi package from 10mbsp to 30mbps. However the speed doesn't change much and so I called TM and their technician come yesterday. they fix the thing and one of the computer got 20mbps+ speed while another computer only have less than 8mbps speed.
Which router are u using now? I did some tests, even the stock TM RG4332 can handle 30mbps over wifi with no problem provided you are not to far away.

Test is here towards the bottom of the post.

hi sifu , about to get mine , want to ask which location would have better coverage for a 2 storey home ? modem put  at 1st floor ? or 2nd floor ? ( assuming no extender/repeater, just the modem alone )
*
Mine is upstairs at the back of the house. Not the best of places but can still reach the front gate sometimes.

Some speedtests here.

Anyone use TV box to watch movies online, such as through apps like VST, Youku, PPTV..? Is it extremely slow?

I am on Unifi 30, yet streaming movies this way is extremely slow. It is much better though, if I watch videos on Youtube.

My TV Box is connected through powerline to my TP-Link router.

Speedtest usually gives 25-28 Mbps download.
*
Not using TVBox but streaming TVB series from questionable Chinese websites on my PC is ok here. Once in a while got hiccups but generally quite smooth.

Just had the courier person change the adapter. Turn on Internet and ask you to confirm Internet working or not. Sign off on a sheet to claim everything is in working order. That's all.
*
Did they change the adaptor for the BTU or the router? My letter said its for the Alcatel BTU but someone here said they change the adaptor for the router instead.

I no money to buy a powerful router to cover whole house, so the best way is setup a access point. Now every room including downstairs got great WiFi.

Best of all cost zero, i use a old ADSL modem router and some work pull the cable it get the job done. Now everyone is happy lol
*
That's the best way to do it. Many wifi access points instead of one big powerful one for the whole house. The former always works better especially if your house is big or have thick walls. Many people forget that a powerful router can reach your device but your device might not be able to reciprocate.
