QUOTE(iXora.ix @ Jan 16 2016, 11:31 PM) May i know how do you do this? Using mikrotik device right? Yes, using Mikrotik RB2011UAS. Ubiquiti also has this feature, it's called Airview. Most consumer routers won't have this feature but should be able to do an AP scan which is similar but limited to 802.11 APs.

QUOTE(blackbox14 @ Jan 17 2016, 12:55 AM) I'm very sorry, I think my original post and reply were both misunderstood and I was not clear enough. I have no experience in DIY and I -don't- want to DIY and move the cable myself (don't want to risk breaking the fiber cable at all), so my original question was: can TM contractors help me move the cable if I call TM directly? Or do they only do installations? If they can't help me move the cable, will I have to call a third-party contractor? I'm not looking to try to move it myself at all. It's out of the question. No idea, ask TM. Don't see why not. Or do you have the mobile number of the original TM installer? Give him a call and ask him to do it for you. Should be cheaper than calling TM to do it officially. I'm sure they can. Money masuk his pocket better than to pay TM.

QUOTE(blackbox14 @ Jan 17 2016, 01:11 AM) The original installer was also from TM. They came in a TMNet van. So I'm not sure how that works. Will try to call them then. Thanks. TM installers are almost always contractors and they're trained and have the necessary equipment so it's a safe bet. If you decide to use a 3rd party contractor, at the very least, ensure that they have an optical power meter with them. Just check that the signals are the same before and after they move the cable less they screw something up.

QUOTE(spadecrew @ Jan 17 2016, 01:53 AM) Hi there...my modem are dead do to lightning...tm will change for free or do I need to buy new 1 at tm? Modem lifetime warranty. I'm quite sure even if kena lightning. Should be replaced free. Maybe it's just the power adaptor. You got a spare or an adaptor from another device? Just make sure it's DC, same voltage and at least the same amperage or more. This post has been edited by soonwai: Jan 17 2016, 01:59 AM

QUOTE(blackbox14 @ Jan 17 2016, 11:13 PM) The problem was that I didn't know if TM provide these kinds of services after the original installation. Actually I'm not sure also but I've asked the TM contractor who came to my house for the original UniFi to do some extra jobs for me. Some side income for them. Totally off the record.

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Jan 17 2016, 08:36 PM) You haven't meet the worst case. 2.4Ghz is literally unusable at my place on all channels. High ping fluctuation. I moved to 5Ghz and have to install more AP to compensate for the poor penetration on 5Ghz. True, my house is more an example of a relatively clean Wifi environment. There're only 2 strong wifi sources nearby, mine & my direct neighbour. And my wifi was off during the spectral scan because my router was the one doing the scanning. The speedtest was done on my neighbour's wifi. What's interesting is all the background noise from other electrical devices whatever they may be. And that strong green band from Maxis. There's a telco tower about 400ft from my house. This post has been edited by soonwai: Jan 17 2016, 11:48 PM

Slow evening so here's another spectral scan. This time of my microwave oven. They emit EM radiation at just the right frequency to interfere with WiFi. You can see where the magnetron is humming and pauses for a few secs and starts again. This post has been edited by soonwai: Jan 18 2016, 12:55 AM

Effects of oven on Speedtest. I stood next to the oven and start Speedtest while the oven was running. You can see where the download speed increases when the magnetron* pauses and then where the upload speed decreases when the oven starts again. Now to eat all the food that I've just heated up. Tomorrow's project is: 1. to try and jam Maxis LTE Band 7 with my router. The Mikrotik radio can transmit from 2312 to 2712 Mhz though it's highly illegal to do so on freqs outside of the Wifi band. Maxis LTE Band 1 is 2500Mhz. 2. heat food up with router *The magnetron is the mojäng that generates EM energy in the oven. This post has been edited by soonwai: Jan 18 2016, 01:59 AM

QUOTE(cheekian @ Jan 18 2016, 06:19 PM) Just now I finally get a call from TM,and ask me to upgrade to advance plan (30mbps) with price RM 179 with free call 10 hours. But I need to consider and I also have question at here. 1)is it true that I can get 1 year warranty for anything that given by TM after upgrade to 30mbps? 2)after 2 years, will price changed to the normal price, since it is the promotion price that is RM179? 3)can I request for change my hypp tv STB because my one is too old already. Then she give me one day to consider it. Can somebody reply me please? 1) yes, 1 yr wrty renewed for your router n STB. 2) not sure but my VIP10 remained at the same price after 2 yrs has elapsed. 3) Nope, I asked 100 about changing STB also but they say no. You can always sabotage the STB n claim warranty.

QUOTE(cheekian @ Jan 18 2016, 06:50 PM) Tomorrow gonna ask again. And how do you sabotage the STB lol Then if I warranty my router, will I get the new one or they send to repair it?because my one it quite old already,dir-615 Aiya, use your imagination. I don't want to corrupt your mind. Normally if something wrong and claim warranty, TM will replace with another unit straight away. No need to wait. My STB replaced with new unit.

QUOTE(ad2000 @ Jan 18 2016, 07:43 PM) nostalgia moment using dialup 1511 for Jaring @ RM50 per month or 1515 tmnet speed @ 4.5 kbps..early nineties considered sufficient liao for surfing emails like pd.jaring.my or tm.net.my or usenet like soc.culture.malaysia etc that time laaa...and of course who can forget that sound when the line is connecting Nowadays 5Mbs considered snail already haha You guys make me feel so old. When I first started using Jaring. There was no WWW, had to use Gopher. Email came through UUCP. POP/SMTP probably still in RFC stage. Modem speed was only 14.4k.

QUOTE(Kitkat88 @ Jan 18 2016, 11:53 PM) I am on Advance 30. I am trying to download some MP3 from YouTube (using online converter to get MP3 files from YouTube). The download speed is simply pathetic... See attached screenshot.. From Youtube should be quite fast. Also on Adv30. Using Jdownloader. This post has been edited by soonwai: Jan 19 2016, 12:13 AM

QUOTE(Kitkat88 @ Jan 19 2016, 12:28 AM) I guess I am not downloading directly from YouTube. I am using youtube-mp3.org to convert the videos on YouTube and download.. I have not used Jdownloader.. can Jdownloader do the same thing? I only want to download the MP3 to be played on my car stereo. Yep, it's quite good. paste a youtube link into Jdownloader and you can choose what you want to download. audio or video.

QUOTE(cucubud @ Jan 19 2016, 07:21 AM) If the BTU is down, how do you guys report the fault to 100? The IP phone is down too. Sometimes I use my megaphone. Or handphone. or neighbours phone. A little tip. If you have an unlimited call plan on your mobile, you may still be charged if you call 100 or a 1300 number. In cases like this you can reach TM at this number 03-22411290. QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Jan 20 2016, 02:34 PM) i use my own ac68U for 30mbps. any reason i need new btu ? or no difference No difference. Even my old HG850a BTU is capable of 2.4/1.2 gbps. The only thing that may make a difference is the Ethernet port. The old ones are 100mbit only while the new BTU are gigabit. Then again UniFi is only 50 for now.
