Haven't come across any Odin Pro 800W review so I don't know. If u already have reviews that shows which PSU is good, why not going for them instead?

QUOTE(Iylia @ Jan 19 2011, 11:12 PM) Hey guys, I am getting a new i5-2500K system and I was wondering if I wanted to do overclocking as well as SLI two GTX570 cards, what minimum wattage power supply should I be looking at? (i'm also running two 1.5TB HDD's and a SSD) LOL @ name. Anyway, Just go for Antec TP Quattro 1000W.I have been looking at a number of different power supplies, keep in mind that I'm trying to get a PSU that isn't too expensive. These are some of the PSU's that I have been considering: (take note, most of these are prices from australia) Antec TP Quattro 1000W - RM705 Silverstone Strider Plus 1000W - RM699 Thermaltake Toughpower XT 875W - RM567 Antec TP Quattro 850W - RM597 Super Flower Golden Green 800W - RM507 Antec True Power 750W - RM417 The best price/wattage ratio would be the Antec True Power 750W but I'm not sure if 750W is enough power to support my system or not.. The next best one would be the Super Flower Golden Green PSU. It has gotten a 80+ Gold certification but I have never heard of the brand before. The Thermaltake Toughpower XT looks like a good buy to me for 875W at that price. All the reviews I have read says it is a solid PSU. However, it only uses a single rail which provides 72A which some might say is a bad thing and others might say otherwise. Anything above that has a big price jump and I would only consider a 1kW PSU if I really really need it.. What do you guys think? |

QUOTE(Iylia @ Jan 19 2011, 11:35 PM) Ridiculous name right! lol. Well, for the price you are paying. Looks like 1kW is actually cheaper. lolDo I really need 1000W of power? or is 875W enough? Apparently two GTX570s will require roughly ~220W x 2 at max load ~ 450W Assuming 83% efficiency 875W ~ 725W That leaves 725W - 450W = 275W for everything else. Isn't that enough? |

QUOTE(darrenwong @ Jan 24 2011, 01:47 AM) Hi, my rig is using about 3-4 years hardware mostly. Ever since I upgraded my GPU to ATi 4770, I think I may need to get a new PSU. Never ever save too much on the power supply. Coolermaster EPP series is one of the fail models. This is the heart of your computer and you will be "playing around" with electricity. Low quality PSUs have higher chance of killing your hardware. Anyway, All IT sells FSP Saga 500W at RM165. This will be the one you are looking for. If you want 80Plus certified, go for Silverstone Strider 500W. Cycom sells it at RM205.Any recommendations? I prefer to spend a maximum of RM150 if preferred. I'm not planning to buy to a new PC anytime soon. Here's my rig specifications: - Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @1.86GHz (plan to OC to at least 2.4-3GHz in near future) - Sunbeam Core-Contact Freezer - Asus P5B-E Plus - 6GB DDR2 667MHz RAM (2x2GB and 2x1GB dual-channel, maybe upgrade to higher performance RAM to smoother my OC-ing) - PowerColor ATi HD4770 512MB DDR5 (used to use HD3650, no issues as mentioned below) - WD 500GB GreenPower SATA2 HDD - WD 250GB Caviar Blue SATA HDD - Sony 18X DVD-RW - 3.5" Floppy Drive - CoolerMaster 430W Extreme Power (see link for details) **My power supply doesn't seem to have the 6-pin PCI-E connector, so taught temporarily using the 2-molex to 6-pin PCI-E adapter which is something like this: I've read back a lot of pages before to gain further understanding, but I think in the end I have to ask you guys. Furthermore, I've used the famous power wattage calculator from the front page and it still shows that my PSU should be still able to handle all this, even though it seems misleading. Feels that I've made a bad choice of PSU in the past, but what's done is done. The problems I faced now: 1. Some strange (maybe knocking sounds) when I perform a cold boot of my desktop. Possible power surge? 2. After using the computer for some time, the monitor shows some very light horizontal lines flowing downwards (which I've never seen before when using the HD3650). 3. The computer unexpectedly restarted once as I checked from the Event Viewer. I need some advice from you guys about my problem. If you need further details, I'll discuss it here. Thanks a bunch. Also, dont trust what the PSU calculator says. Hardware these days drains power from +12V rail. A PSU with stronger +12V is recommended. This post has been edited by TristanX: Jan 24 2011, 02:01 AM |

QUOTE(MasterGaming @ Jan 25 2011, 09:26 AM) brother tristanx... u see the top cable ? 1 connect to psu, 2 mole female connector... Shouldn't give problems since the connectors are one way. You won't be able to plug it in if you do it backwards. Unless you deliberately mess up the wiring.izzit if my fan connector its (molex connector) , then i connect that molex to molex female connector as the same picture above ^ .... will get any problem ? |

QUOTE(aishulicious @ Feb 19 2011, 01:55 PM) I only know All IT at Low Yat sells it at RM165. But you can bug storm88 for Seasonic Silence Pro 500W. That will be better since it is 80Plus Bronze certified and it is higher quality. RM199 for it is a steal. |
