THERE's a new UPDATE on XBOX LIVE, well this is good news for you guys with original Microsoft xbox 360 machine but unfortunately, bad news for the modded console owners. Anyways, only time will tell and i think this wont be a problem.

I did update just now but dunno is it the dashboard got prob or wt as when i play GOW, it keep on freeze my screen and it happen ~3 times within 2hrs plus freeze once during I play Need for Speed Carbon.

So not sure is it the new update which cause this or heat issues but i was playing them in Air Con room?

As for me: Unmodded console: No problems. No noticable change since i am not affected much by the update as to 1080p anyways.

No problems.. what I noticed too.. within GOW if you using regular 19 inch monitor (non-widescreen) the squish is a lot less. For 1024X768 already perfect.

If you're using 19" monitor (I presume LCD) it's better to use 1280x1024 as that's the native resolution of 19" non-widescreen LCD.

Perhaps it's the same issue as PGR3 whereby it will stretch to fill the screen instead of displaying in letterbox, unless you set it to 1024x768.

at first when boot up my 360... already hang... not even sign into xbox live yet. forced shutdown and reboot again, connected to xbox live and successfully updated without anything bad at all.

Updated, reboot then pause for half a sec at the logo screen...took longer than usual to login live. Other than that, everything's fine...for now.

My TV doesnt support 1080p so the update did nothing for me

cant use 1080i nor p. only can do the one step lower res for wide screen 19". thx tonmj for passing me 1 month coupon, i just discover that live is so much fun.

hmmm can you run 1080p on a 24" lcd monitor? I believe it is still no 1080p yet no? I'm planning to get a 20" lcd monitor...have some concerns about image stretching and black bars....wei come online ler...wanna ask some quick questions

the dell 24 incher can do 1920x1200 max, so thats > 1080p. problem is 1920x1200 is 16:10 aspect ratio, 1080p via vga is 1920x1080 which is 16:9. unless scaling can be turned off (didnt see mto be able to do it on my dell 20"), images will be abit vertically streched.

can wud, pixel 1:1, dont put fill up, or use either 1:1 or aspect ratio.

i think he referring to my previous post about scaling and aspect ratios (on Dell LCDs specifically). ya most 20" lcds 1680x1050 only, cant do 1080p.

just need another 30 pixel only~..

but the 1680 is missing 240 pixels!

now that I disposed of my psp, it is time to upgrade my monitor and get a console. My only concern is the damn monitor problem. Here are some of my concerns and i hope you guys can clear it up for me..(already did a search online)

Q: If I get a 24 incher, 1920 X 1200, can I do 1:1 pixel so that the monitor doesnt stretch out the vertical axis to 1200? Does that depends on the monitor?

Q: If I get 20 incher, the closest res that I can set on the xbox is 13xx X 768 ....If I set it at that resolution, does the monitor auto fill up the screen? is there still a problem with overstretch screen with the new dashboard? If I set the monitor to 1:1 (assume can be done on the monitor) I suppose the viewing size will be small and there will be black areas surrounding the image?

If I can do 1080p on a 24 incher...I might just get that instead...althought 2 X more expensive than a 20" What I am afraid is M$ decides to update the dashboard again and support 1680:945 after i bought the 24"

My PC is a htpc and is under the tv, I have a 25ft vga cable running around the room and my monitor is placed 2 ft beside me and my bed. I really wanna get a big screen lcd for now. 42" 1080p lcdtv is pretty expensive now....was hoping that a 20-24" monitor would last me till May 2007, by which I would get a 42"

Madmoz, traditionally you do that on a living room couch with consoles in your cabinet. But necessity dictates that to get the most out of these consoles, you need to pair them with some sort of HD ready displays, and after spending so much for the consoles, there arent enough dough for the screens. PC monitors are the most affordable solution then, which then dictates playing them as how you do playing PC games on PC.

For those looking, the BenQ FP241W is the only option to go 1080p on a 24 incher. RM3299 i asked, and should already be here by now.

I starved for a month, then went out to get the cheapest tv that supports 720p and now we get 1080p

Don't fancy the idea of staring at a monitor cause I do 8.5 hours of that at work!!!

But it is a very acceptable and affordable tradeoff for those who had to budget, Madmoz. And not to mention portable as well for LAN parties. If you arrange and set it up nicely, it is more than capable showing off your console in action.

Start slow2 lah bos, we have to start from somewhere. When things are going a little better financially, then the option for larger screens would open up.

Point taken... btw cnnecting to computer monitors = no sound right? So what speakers to use? I need something 5.1, we need an additional dolby receiver for this no?

^ There are lots of Home Theater sets out there that accepts optical input from the consoles (and dolby digital decoding). Pretty cheap too. For games, get those with a huge subwoofer (e.g Logitech). I dare say my cheap setup sounds more punchy than String's system.

As for LCD monitors..do u think we can really tell a difference between 720p and 1080p on a 24" screen? My 360's VGA cable is gonna arrive next week from PA. I'll see if running GOW at 1080p makes any difference. Most likely not. Sigh..now all that's left is finding dough for a PS3.

Sony got one 5.1 system going for 999-1099. Accepts 1 optical input and 1 Coax digital.

Ehem, that day was polugged using dinky Bravia speakers. GoW's amp tranceiver volume wasnt cranked up loud, since we want to hear everybody talking right?

But yeah, that system is more than 4 years old already. Im thinking of a wireless setup, and for a small area like mine, im still researching the possibilities.

Is your console modded? that might be the problem with the flashed firmware. this is the only reason that i can think of because those with virgin 360s seem to have no problem

My 1 is 100% original not modded and just less than 1 month old!!

There are problems with:
Ancient Consoles
Modded Consoles
Brand New Consoles

Your box may have been manufactured at the time where the consoles got bricked by the once latest update.
