if you got backup original firmware then oklah can swap with a new replacement dvd drive but his 360 is unmodded so where to find the original firmware?

the only "restore to factory defaults" option i found is for network setting, which only reset the network setting.


my original firmware is still in my dvd drive, which should have the matching key number with the mobo. well i'm not going to flash it, my box still under warranty, now looking for a way to send it back.


even when there's no black out or lost connection to internet, if it going to fail, it will fail... now amusing myself with hours of video in this weekends. feels lacking of interactivity...

i think M$ already fix the "bug" for 1st update.. after i updates last night... & than after coming back from DJINN shop... got new updates again... 2 time.. hmmmm

can i ask u guys a questions..
what will happen if i keep refuse to update my 360/live..

u all should have seen this from the start. it's MS for crying out loud. they ALWAYS find a way to kill jack sparrowers.

like, duh? an internet driven console? with almost pc-like features? it's so in-bloody-evitable.

so please remember. u get what u pay for. u pay a bit more for games, u get its live services which, i could very well say, is completely awesome.

u pay a bit more to do some flashing, and MS flashes their balls into your face. oh and with a big F U some more.

so flashers..say hello to xbox 180 (cos uh..without live it's only half the box it's supposed to be. so it's uh..180..half of 360..uh..geddit? oh nvm. )

haha. from now on.. all flashed Xbox 360 will known as Xbox 180. hahahhaha. cool name.. wakkakakka.

and not just you can't go into live. you will miss all the good stuff. and some games will never work unless you update. so guess what... your xbox is not so cool without updates.

some ppl having the unreadeble disc... so is this effected by ur dvd drive? remeber xbox360 got 3 different dvd drive samsung, thomson and hitachi. which one is causing the error?

mine also hitachi the samsung one is the easy to hack.

I'm going to buy an Xbox360 soon. But my place here doesnt have the phone line. Some more I rarely play online games. My last online game was Diablo 1 and that was like, 9-10 years ago on a dial-up.

Frankly, I want to get the original, unmodded Xbox360 and buy original games BUT seeing that some machines get bricked or spoilt after updating their consoles, so what give? This really scares me a lot and made me think twice about getting one.

Main question: Is it CRUCIAL to get to Live if I wanna get Xbox360? Can i use the machine without getting to Live at all? I prefer if playing with my housemates and I dont want to spend some money to play online. I prefer going offline.

If getting attach to the local community (heck, even international), getting fresh new content like Demo, Video, new level etc etc & hassle-free gaming are what matters to you.

Go for ori unmod xb360.

If somebody tell you, you still can go Live even after modding your xb360. Ask him to guarantee you a new xb360 if your xb360 ever get ban.

My take? Get unmod xb360, buy few ori games that you really wana play and play it to the fullest. If for some reason, your xb360 become a white brick...then only try to mod it to...'revive' it.

Well truth be told brother you should choose.
The consumer inside me says "Go ahead buy the modded console its games are cheaper and you can play all the games also i can play with my housemates free of charge, no Live subscription,BESIDES it only gets bricked if you are connected to Live so no problemo for you"

But the gamer inside me says," Whoa now brother, why not get a broadband connection? You can use it for your studies and play Live, on Live you meet new friends who in turn play with you on the service, also X box Live arcade is awesome in its own right downloading old school games for a heck of a price, the download market on Live is pretty cool to, there you can download new materials for your games, patches for broken games and whole new maps and chapters for certain games"
