QUOTE(boboke @ Aug 17 2018, 05:40 PM) No, it is Maikes Leather Strap that I got from Aliexpress for RM35. Cheapo watch + cheapo strap only. Hope 1 day can own nice2 watch like you guys. Hahah sorry coz it reminded me of that daiso one that i bought on a whim. But seriously, pay cheap, quality oso corresponds![]() Cheap watch is not an issue, but a good strap would really make a difference on how the watch feel on your wrist. I even had a rm60 nato on a rm10 pasar malam Q&Q before. |

QUOTE(D4rkWinGz @ Aug 20 2018, 07:12 PM) Hi Sifus, i would avoid, but that's because i am not so hard up for it.Just got myself a pre-owned KS 5626-7110 recently. Unfortunately the watch required to overhaul due to dirt mentioned by the seller. I was quoted the overhaul price would be around $140USD. Is this price reasonable for such a service? Thanks |

QUOTE(D4rkWinGz @ Aug 20 2018, 08:03 PM) I mean avoid getting that watch altogether. 1. Since it is overseas, you can't check the actual conditions with your own eyes 2. It is up to what he claimed. We dunno the service price over there. 3. Perhaps what the other side did is one thing but charge another. 4. Probably didnt even need a service but just a ruse to make you pay more 5. If the condition is that bad, it shows that the owner never bothered to take care of his mechanical watches. No regular servicing. And u intend to buy this junk off him? U wana become waterfish? 6. Wana buy vintages, better buy local. From established shops even better. At least u can be assured of warranties and refunds. Online and overseas transactions, u have a troublesome complaint and return process. I leave it to your own judgement. Who knows u might be lucky |

QUOTE(shzrn @ Sep 20 2018, 09:38 AM) The movement is stamp with the 7s26a name and seiko brand, comparing with the pictures I see online, it's the same save for this one does not have a country name stamped on the rotor. It's really perplexing as this watch feels legit but some parts of it feels off. turn the bezel, 120 or 60 clicks? that would serve as indication whether case is fake or not. not 100% to determine if genuine though.rotor can always be marked any way the faker wants, just need engraving machine with the right font plate, although some fakers wont even bother, as long as got words. the bezel insert, yea the lume pip kinda huge but at least the "1" on "10" is done in the style of original. how bright is the lume, and how long does it last? a short expose to the sun can have a noticeable lume in indoor for about 2-3 mins, while an exposure to bright lights for a minute, and then switch off lights to sleep at night, it will still retain a noticeable glow even after 3 hours. but of course one can always slap in ori dial and hands into a feiko. how does the caseback looks like? take some shots of the caseback and the movement please |

crown guard curve seems legit.
it does gave me a feeling that it could be a refurbished skx cobbled from parts of a few different units. |

QUOTE(MneN @ Sep 21 2018, 09:33 AM) QUOTE(binghb @ Sep 21 2018, 09:40 AM) For solar, no worry about the watch stopping, just charge with normal/sunlight. Less hassle of winding and setting the watch if it stops(automatic) . But i still prefer automatic as i like the experience of manually winding it. it is 2 different kind of ownership experience. Solar is a quartz still so accuracy is not an issue so as long as the capacitor/battery is charged. it is representative of human technological advancement in the use of silicons and electrons. Automatics, on the other hand is a cummulation of various mechanical parts operating from kinetic energy converted from our on bodily movement. it embodies the wisdom of craftsmen of past in the art of machinery. the principles remains the same for both. a watch tells time. for a solar, energy is stored in battery/capacitor and is used to drive the circuit board to generate time-telling ability via regulation of a quartz crystal for an auto, energy is stored in the mainspring, which then regulated by various cranks and wheel to drive the hands to tell time. all road leads to Rome. the end destination is the same, just different paths. and some say, it's the journey that matters. With a 7s26, you wont know when you have fully wind it, unless if :
1. you take it apart and manually wind it yourself and assemble it back. 2. put it on a winder running continuously for 8 hours. |

QUOTE(bum99my @ Nov 12 2018, 06:19 PM) On another note, does anyone knows of a place that I can have the leather strap replaced with a steel bracelet? I went to Thong Sia SC today but they were unable to help as this model is really old (1979!!). take a picture of the underside please. if i am not wrong you just need to buy and use any straight end steel bracelet. this model is either 18 or 20 mm i guessThank you. |

QUOTE(bum99my @ Nov 12 2018, 09:57 PM) @andrewhtf, Yup, Thong Sia is pretty limited in that sense. They dont have much spareparts ready in store, especially given that Seiko has a massive amount of differing models even though many parts are interchangeable across models, but we have to understand that the Japs are very strict in controlling their inventories and stocks. They dont take kindly to ppl messing around with their creations (bah ppl around the world mods their seikos, no farks given)I found an old (circa mid 2000s) Seiko 5 Auto that I haven't used for ages. I took that and this watch to a local watch shop and voila! it fits nicely. I was disappointed with Thong Sia SC though. The lady there, whilst polite, was very 'negative' in her answers. She kept saying this watch is "old model, don't have, don't have.", even though I told her I'll accept any metal bracelet, as long as it new and original. She won't even accept my request for a bracelet to be ordered from Japan. Sigh.... Plus it doesnt happen to Seiko alone, i even have trouble with Casio itself - both Marco corp and Casio Japan, not having replacement parts for a 10 year old G-shock, despite marketing their g-shocks as rough tough watch that can last decades. and dont even get me started on Citizen Msia. they dont seem to exist at all. |
