Report back from TCS.
Baru bukak to look see sudah kena handling fee. takpa pay dulu lor. Inside movement all rusty. water damage. possibly due to o-ring sudah kaput hence moisture seeped in. according to marking inside, watch last serviced 16 years ago. now they checking for parts availability baru quote repair cost. if i can afford then will repair, if not then just keep old watch in cupboard and buy her a new one. |

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Aug 4 2016, 02:49 PM) Unless the whole thing looks like a 17th century shipwreck, the dial, hands and stem can be transplanted. yup. i'm now waiting for TCS to come back first and if the cost is outrageous i will go with buying a similar working watch and get a watch repairer to work on it. my last search found a shop across the street from jam may may that does repair on old watches.Since thongsia won't service for you, you need to find some uncle shop who will do it first. This is the hardest. Avoid those shopping center or high class looking ones since they won't bother with an old Seiko. He will most likely tell you to buy new watch since no more parts. Tell him that you should be able to source the parts... ie. ebay for him. Get something like this... its cheap... hints that the date wheel might have problem... and since its india... the dial probably repainted but you don't need to care about all those.. since you just need the movement. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-seiko-5-29...OIAAOSwIgNXoesy Gaskets all those things should be able to use generic ones. And ya... get him to do full service on the whole thing while he's at it. |

QUOTE(NSX_MY @ Aug 5 2016, 10:21 AM) This is interesting.... grey dial with orange accent, omega-ish..... nothing wrong with cyclops apa... at least it also became some sort of a shield in case you put it face down hahahahahttps://musingsofawatchaddict.wordpress.com...c-divers-watch/ but then the cyclops is annoying still.... anyway poor grammar on a supposedly official brochure. |

QUOTE(allanshah @ Aug 6 2016, 02:59 PM) I cant recall the exact way, put apparently putting your watch on one side or face up overnight will actually cause the time to delay or advance. So if your regular time is advancing so night time u need to position it to delay, and vice versa. Only happens to mechanicals though. |

QUOTE(owenwong84 @ Aug 21 2016, 01:53 AM) Hi guys, This looks like the whole complete toolset. Price is quite cheap at rm12 although i cant say anything of the quality. Probably enuff to get the job done.I'm new to watch repair tool kit. I just need a tool to change strap or adjust bracelet for seiko. I saw this in lelong. http://www.lelong.com.my/16-pieces-watch-r...6-08-Sale-P.htm Is this sufficient for me? or is there any shop in selangor sell this stuff and cheaper? By the way, any recommended shop selling original seiko strap and others fit seiko? |

Guys, need your help to find a Seiko 5 model SNX427 or SKX427, as the dial matches the look of my SNGZ15. this is my preferred choice compared to SNK809 (final choice). Know anywhere to get? no result on ebay, WUS and MWF though.

Lost a bid sniping on ebay just now. A used sarb035. The winner got it for 180usd if he is American buyer then he got it at a pretty fair deal. I had to give up sniping because the shipping and import charge raise up the cost to another 50+usd. My target was max at rm1k all in for this used piece. Oh well just not my luck.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Aug 25 2016, 08:00 PM) ya tho I've never heard of anyone replacing a 7s26 with another... more often it gets replaced with a 4r36 or 6r15. The cost of buying a 4r36/6r15 engine about the same as buying another watch. Just wear that new watch instead lora nh25 aka oem 7s26 used to cost around usd25-30...thats why not many actually buy donor pieces with 7s26. |

QUOTE(alvin_goh @ Aug 25 2016, 10:19 PM) Haha well, I did just that! the 7S26A on my SKX399 diver was failing, so I bought a used but running donor watch to harvest the 7S26B movement. Had to swap over the day wheel which was daunting but it all worked out in the end. wah, keng! i only dare to change strap only. anything else, sorry![attachmentid=7392772] An oem 7S26 cost around 45 bucks on the bay now excluding shipping, so prices have went up. The thought of transplanting a 4R36 did cross my mind but too much technicality involved for an amateur like me, so abandoned project. Besides I can always hack by applying reverse pressure on the crown, and unscrewing the crown to handwind didn't exactly appeal to me. QUOTE(wow1wow2 @ Aug 25 2016, 10:36 PM) I am planning to get a seiko watch budget around RM300-400. Preferably brown strap and white dial(black also ok), any suggestion? for that budget u can get seiko 5 or any vintage seikos. falls back to what kind of style you'd like - army/pilot, diver, classic, dress and sports. seiko 5 cater to these styles mentioned. straps can always be changed. |
