What position are you applying for? I worked there previously, superd colleagues, super environment. If you are the friendly and like to mingle type, it's the place for you. Ask me anything, I'll try to help. I was the pioneering batch there.

They are in the midst of transition of countries in asia pacific to the help desk at Menara TM. Depending on the countries already transitioned, generally you will be working 8 hours, and there will be 2 shifts in a day. The working environment is good, comparable to HP, physically I mean (tea/coffee/snacks etc with fridge, nothing fancy). The infrastructure are all new, AC blowing from the floor instead of the top. They are using Novell for File server (NOT OS and NOT file system). SAP will pay you well, and if you stick around, they have periodic cash bonus (i.e. not once every end of the year). The boss is very strict, but very fair and one of the best I've seen. If you screw up, you will get screwed, but own up to it, fix it, and you;re off to a great start.

As for benefits, I'm sure it will differ from one employee to another. But you can generally be sure of contractual bonus, performance bonus, medical, etc. But most importantly, they are new. And the chance to be part of the management team, to go up the food chain, is enormous. Depending on your negotiation skill. So you need to have good attitide, as things may still be a bit rocky, as in any transition and new set up.

They are engaging Accenture as part of the transition consulting team. Most of them are professional and friendly. Some of the ppl there came from ExxonMobil, ,Shell, HP etc., so you know the benefits are not at all bad.

BASC (that's what it's called) need good people with great attitude. If you think you have expertise in areas of helpdesk (SAP all modules), Lotus Notes R6/7, security, operations, HR/Finance, go to Kelly IT services. BASC need 400 ppl at least, and the last time I check, they have reached around 300.

Hi guys, would like to ask bout the SAP Service Desk in BASF. What's the differences in between SAP SD and normal SD?

Their HR contacted me directly, and initially they offered me the Service Desk Analyst which is the same as what I'm doing right now, and I rejected it.

Then, they told me got job available for SAP SD (Level 1 Support) also.

But, is it better to get involve in SAP SD than the normal SD?

I have been working in Helpdesk line for 2 years... and I'm getting boring of it, dun wanna take calls anymore.

Can someone please give me some opinions?

Thanks!~ smile.gif

Hi, its my first time in writing in the Jobs section. I did went through the 3rd stage of the GTP.

But here is the overall assessments from the beginning for anyone's reference. Sorta because they only tell you the whole thing only at the 3rd stage. This is according to their numbering system, the submission of resumes is stage 1.

Assessment 1: They screen resumes
Assessment 2: Those selected from the resume pile gets invited by both/either by BASF or their HR consultants to HELP at KL Campus for 2 tests.

Test 1: Read passages and answer true or false.
Test 2: Business Math/ Statistics analytical questions.

Assessment 3: PAPI-I Test. Its a Mayers-Briggs personality test of 100 questions. This is done at your own time and pace at home.

Assessment 4: At BASC's premises at Menara TM. Its broken down to 3 exercises.

Exercise 1: Group Presentation Exercise. 4 people at the table are given a scenario and facts related to it. 20 minutes to formulate answers, 20 minutes for the actual meeting. Discuss about the scenario and collectively come to an agreement.

Exercise 2: Individual Presentation Exercise. You have a case and facts given and you would have to present to the assessors your case. In my case, its justification on why a company's branch should not be closed down.

Exercise 3: Individual Role Play. Its a one to one meeting scenario to solve issues with a person. In my case I had to solve an individual's problem of taking too much tau huei breaks and not delivering the expected results. Of course the facts and what you need to do is given on the booklet provided. They would ask you about your department preference over tea break.
Whether if its going to be IT, Finance/Accounting, HR or Corporate Services.

Assessment 5: An interview with the head of the department that you may get based on what department you tell them that you want to join.

Then its straight to getting a job offer and the job.

I hope by writing this, it would help other fellow job seekers in the future. Though I might just reject their offer because they did say its going to be a call center job. Don't really fancy call center work after getting tricked into it in the past.

I worked as a contractor there before.

Friendly (ahbeng-ish) people, nice environment, a systematic (German) support process. Only bad thing is parking and lousy TM building smile.gif

For the 4th Assessment, they brought applicants into the office itself. As I and the other candidates were being moved around, I did see quite a number of people hooked up into headsets.

A curiosity I noticed in the proceedings is that no one seems to ask for my or anyone else's resumes and cert copies at all. Well, apart from the time you submitted your resume for Assessment 1. I only sent in my resume only, so I wonder they really have the time to background check people or coz its going to be a CC job, anyone would do?

About the Call center thing, I did ask Ms. Lisa Lew of the local HR team about the job at the first test at HELP. I asked if its going to be a call center job, and she said yes. So, that's where I got the info from.

I am curious what other details do you know? Its good to let the forum goers know so that they can make informed decisions about joining BASC.

i was interviewed for the credit officer last week, i like both the interviewer, they are so nice and friendly. Unfortunately, they required me to work on shift everyday (to handle Australian's customer), as earliest as 2am in the morning, so when the interviewer asked me if i am willing to work for them, i rejected them. That's a regret.

Mixed reviews on these posts. Why do people leave BASF SSC? Where do they go? How well is BASF SSC operating compared to other KL SSC companies? What are the differences? What are they doing worse?

Hey there, I'm currently one of the GTPs and this is my 2nd year into the programme. As Management Trainees, we've been given a lot of exposure from the top management and you could say its a privilege since you would be able to learn more on the management side of organisation. The career advancement here doesn't necessary happens in a vertical direction, it can be diagonal as long as your talent fits the competency requirements.

If you are interested in joining the GTP programme, the opening usually occurs in September. The assessment will be done in 3 phases and it is based on elimination.

BASC is a shared service centre whereby we process employee payroll, finance postings and payment, SAP system support, project management and etc. How would you define situation / incident management, are you referring to hazards (i.e. accidents) or technical support for system error ?

Hi fatman xing

i've been through phone interview and online assessment( numerical & verbal) for GTP, question as follows:

1) how many round until the final interview?

2) will they inform me either i pass o fail the online assessment ?

3) since the GTP is based on rotation ,how many functions we are going to learn within that 18 months?

for more detail, i attach together the job advertisment.

Worked there before. Environment is very nice, aircon comes from the floor instead of the top. People there are friendly & well manners. Got pantry & there will be cleaners coming twice a day to collect your coffee mugs from your desk laugh.gif

I got in there quite easily since I was doing an intern over there (15mins interview lol), but as they said you don't climb up the ladder vertically. After 5 years working in MM dept, they could put you as a manager in finance dept etc (just an example). Bonus depends on your performance, you perform good you get good bonus otherwise your team score will be affected too since your performance will affect the team performance as well.

Hi all,

Actually I am not applying to BASF GTP in Malaysian but the same "GROW ASIAN PROGRAM". So I expected the procedure should be similiar somehow. This is my first job after graduating from Universiti Teknologi Petronas and coming back to my home country so I am now very nervous cry.gif . I have already proceeded to the final step which will be done in BASF's Assessment Center. So could anyone please share about some of experiences and hints so that I could prepare myself?

Thank you very much for your help.

A simple question...Nothing complicated.

-your background?
-Why you wanna join this program at BASF? - Need to know the surface of the program about
-What are the divisons having for this program? (HSE,HR,Finance and Procurement)
-Asking for your CGPA,Nationality and availability

Good luck! smile.gif

Benefit is good depends on your performance (KPI)= approximately 2months++ each year
Increment yes if you apply for IT/IS is higher than finance/HR.
Medical card, dental, travel ticket and insurance are claimable (Flexi Points)
working in basf is very good career advancement and your hard work is paid off, you will have internal activities / event (BASF RUN, Movie night, Health & Fitness Program, Corporate gym price etc)
If you got offer from BASF, congratulations!!!!

as far as i know, when i was in BASF, all the newcomers to finance are 90% chinese,
same goes for IT.
The post you apply for maybe belongs to BASF malaysia, not BASC?
since BASC doesn't require any E&E, Instrument, Mech positions.
Only some CE people required for EHS dept

it's normal, all candidates will go through reference checks. BASF is quite a good company, most of the employees are young and energetic, though recently cost cutting and restructuring may have some impact on the benefits and workload. Overall it's a good company.

recently i saw a lot of IT opening at BASF.

May I know in general:
# How was their increment, and performance bonus
# How was their working environment? I heard they have been working remotely even before pandemic?
# Workload?
# Their benefits like medical, AL/ML

Thanks.
