AC-1 Sound card's SNR is very low, not worth spend RM600.

sound card really makes tat big diff in playback kar...? i don hear any diff...
i've using built in sound cards for years now... but the speaker i use is THX certified moded home theater karaoke system... bought the whole set for RM200 cuz the Karaoke close shop d... it's around 8 years old and can blow any PC speakers other than Bose away...

If u use home theater system of coz u wont feel the difference. U will only be able to feel the difference if use Multimedia/PC speaker system.

Bose speakers are very rough. IIRC, American after all.

I used a built-in until i switched to my first Creative Vibra 128. Then it became an Audigy 2 Value. Now it's back to HD Audio on my laptop.


But i still don't get why someone would want to blow RM6xx on a soundcard. Get a mid-range soundcard and some good speakers. In the end, it's the speakers that make the best bang for buck.

sometimes that depends la, if your ears aren't trained, even azalia hd audio sounds really good, (infact, it is pretty good)

but some audioheads can hear even minute differences in frequencies, so well, no bad soundcards for them.

yes. made very huge difference especially when gaming (for me). have you tried to use sound card with ur home theater system? I believe if you compare side by side, you will hear the difference.
and THX is just a gimmick.

Yeah is Just RM600 ..i saw it write at the pricelist there... and my cs-teammate, bought the AC-1 Soundcard from Thunder Match @Rm600 ...fews week ago ..

Well, I'll hold my wallet until the mako comes out, then I'll make the comparison.
If it sounds better then the Z2300? I'll get the Mako + Barracuda soundcard.
If it's just average reviews, i'll go for the X-fi + Logitech combo.

The reason I like the Mako is because of the round speakers...... I don't have much desk space left for normal sized speakers.

if so, u better make sure ur table is hard enough to reflect the sound man

i had bad experiences with downfiring speakers
my previous vs4121 mids were drowned when it fires on wooden surface
not too bad on glass surface

i guess the barracuda soundcard only makes a difference in sound positioning only

the razer hp-1 (headset right?) is a usb headset right? means, it has its own DSP to process sound
wouldn't that override the AC-1 abit alr
should work even better with better 5.1 soundcards, afaik the ac-1 doesn't provide very satisfying music playback despite its steep price

I thought the Mako was supposed to eliminate that via the THX design?

It look like a table lamp or checking fake money scanner (UV) for me.
