QUOTE(la bella @ Oct 15 2015, 05:03 PM) No. They are different. It's machine vs handmade. The brewing method is different from normal espresso. Espresso is made by machine. how different is this from normal drip coffee? This Starbucks reserve coffee is made by pour-over manual brewing system. It's more rich and aromatic compared to machine made coffee. If you favor black coffee, this tastes better than espresso based americano. And not forget to mention that the beans are single origin beans compared to normal starbucks using mixed beans. ![]() a very good 250gm bag of single origin costs around RM50, minum until muntah also can |

QUOTE(winkiedilwy @ Oct 16 2015, 01:23 AM) You bodo ke? I can easily afford. It's just that their coffee really sucks. If you can't tell the difference, than you need to get your tongue checked. I prefer smaller non-chain cafes with better trained barristas and more flavorful beans. If I do end up in a chain, I prefer either Plan BB, Artisan Roast, or even Espresso Lab. These places make a better cup of coffee than Starbucks, and they at least know what a Flat White is. I only ever go to Starbucks when there is no better option, such as it's the only cafe with enough seating for the group. Or I got overruled by majority vote. It's alway my last choice when it comes to cafes. |

QUOTE(DK82 @ Oct 16 2015, 10:28 AM) Better take /k/ posers for a pinch of salt. Haha, I am not such an expert coffee connoisseur. There are those who follow the barista, the barista leaves the cafe, so do the customers. Also we have those who follow which roastery the cafe sources. Alot keep clear of green-badged cafes serving charcoal beans. And then we have those sheep who follow the big brands like a cult. Doesn't matter, had Then brag about quality. But I know just enough to be able to able to tell that Starbuck somehow makes a very flat coffee with no character. Which is odd, really, since their beans are actually quite decent when you go to take a look. They also overheat their milk. I heard its because Malaysian customers (them ignorant fools) kept asking why the milk isn't hot enough. Good cafes stick to the proper temperature (65-70 celsius, as milk denatures above 70) and will only boil it (in other words, ruin the cup) on customer request. Info for the sheep right there, on the nature and art of coffee. Starbucks also seems to specialize more in frappucinos, which is incidentally coffee made from lower quality beans than that which is used for hot coffee. Why lower quality? Because you can't fucking tell the difference in those sugar-loaded cups of crap. Some places do know how to make a good cold brew though. I usually only ever drink hot coffee. Flat whites for preference. Lattes on occassion. Long black if they have really good beans and the barrista seems to know their stuff. |

QUOTE(sendoh_7 @ Oct 16 2015, 11:28 AM) Lol like I said, sometimes I still end up in Starbucks anyway despite my dislike of the chain. No choice. Group say go, have to go lor. But I generally try to steer the choice away from Starbucks, Coffee Bean, or Pacific Coffee. I don't like those 3 chains. |
