Great list ...

Ayam adding those I'd watched, which I think I no see listed yet ...

- Hand of God, Season 1, 10 Episodes - not for those who can't see cross rolleyes.gif ; Ron Perlman as a judge who thinks he can listen to God, wanna revenge his comatose son and save him before they take-off his life-support.

- Sense8, Season 1, 12 Episodes - a bit like Heroes but more to tearful drama; not for those who hates LGBTs ... those who watch Quantico might recognize one of the characters.

- Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Series 1, 7 Episodes - when magic was real in England.

- Les revenants / The Returned - (French - 8 Episodes) / (US - 10 Episodes) - Season 1 - remade by US, still prefer original French version, but both are nice ... US actors more eye-candy tho. The town and atmosphere are like Twin Peaks.

- The Fall, Series 1 (5 Episodes) & 2 (6 Episodes) - serial killer drama, Gillian Anderson is the detective vs the guy in 50 Shades of Grey is the killer (no spoiler, revealed early on).

- Black Mirror, Series 1 (3 Episodes) & 2 (3 Episodes) - something like Twilight Zone / Amazing Stories series.

and watching/trying to keep up2date with
- Penny Dreadful, Dark Matter, Humans, Outlander, Halt & Catch Fire, Review with Forrest MacNeil, and many many more.

Arrgghh .. will just list again the series watched/watching which me think worth repeating, so that ppl might think they're nice coz many ppl talk about them ... but, one man's meat is another man's poison :-
- iZombie, Scream Queens, Scream, American Horror Story (me skipped the circus season), Quantico, Limitless, The Last Man on Earth, Homeland, Downton Abbey, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Big Bang Theory, Mr Robot, The Strain, Lip Sync Battles, Comedy Central Roasts, True Detective (me only like 1st Season), Silicon Valley, House of Cards (haven't watch Season 3), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, True Blood, Orange Is The New Black, Orphan Black, Mad Men, Selfie, Broadchurch, Banshee, Sherlock, and of course, Game of Thrones.

QUOTE(theaxia @ Jan 2 2016, 01:12 AM)
homeland plot quite nice,
i layan since season 1..
but season 5 i dunno what the real conflict is..
is it about the gas, or about russian spies?
*
For me the main plot for Season 5 is the spying-double-agent storyline; the terrorist attacks are subplots.
Since Homeland is more to CIA, I still equate the series to spying and intel-gatherings, rather than counter-terrorism which I peg more to FBI. But since Homeland latter seasons aren't really about conflicts happening in ... err, homeland, I guess CIA plays the international CT role.
(On that note, off-topic, have you guys watched the movie Sicario? Riveting ... tension ... beautiful cinematography ... minimal but effective soundtrack)

Anyway, Season 5 is the 2nd most exciting Homeland season for me, after Season 1; coz it deals with spying stuffs more.

Season 2 not as thrilling as Season 1 but still good. Season 3 & 4 a bit meh ... but Season 5, back to exciting spycraft, focusing on the edgy cloak & dagger business.

Yeap, wajib tonton. Ada feel sikit macam True Detective Season 1, tapi lebih realistic ... very detailed, dapat feel diaorang researched criminal procedures dan law bagi polis, prison & court, dengan terperinci. Mungkin slowpaced bagi sebilangan, but I look forward to this every week.
Based on a UK series ... mungkin cari dan layan lepas mini-series ni habis.

Finished Marvel's Iron Fist Season 1 as well ... had to watch all episodes because already done so with other Marvel Netflix series.

Going into it with low expectation after reading critics review; instead, I find the first 5 episodes slow setups are quite ok ... it's the remaining episodes that made me roll-my eyes and even closed my eyes (fell asleep).
Netflix shouldn't impose the showrunners and writers to come up with 13 episodes, as standard ... coz some are like sub-plots that appeared suddenly, characters put asides for few episodes then come back again, and most scenes have prolonged dialogues that are repetitive (already mentioned before, after 1 or two episodes, mentioned again) ...
Even the main reason why Danny Rand want to fight the final boss when he find out in the 2nd last episode, already was revealed earlier but no ... he don't believe it, and so, must settle other bad guys first before going back to the final boss ...
Can say there are 3 antagonists playing mind games/using Iron Fist, with at least 4 others conflicting with Danny Rand+Iron Fist, which must've been confusing for him but not really for us audience (coz it's so obvious),... which I think they wanna make him seem childlike but naive a bit; so, he's easily gullible and prone to anger, although he's supposed to be like a monk with zen-mind (I didn't read the comics, so don't know).

In short, overall it's ok lah ... watchable .. acting and storyline so-so, could've better if Season 1 is more focused.

GLOW ... finished watching Season 1 on Netflix ... quite funny although storyline is predictable with the standard multi-racial variety of characters.

No one is shilling on Mind Hunter???

Wut....

Just finished watching Season 1.

I like it ... started and ended strong, but slow and seemingly off-tangent sub-plots in middle episodes feels like they wanted to drag the story into Season 2, which they did because by the end of Season 1, don't even know those sub-plots important or not.

Interested in watching MindHunter becoz of David Fincher, who directed Episodes 1,2,9&10.
Don't know based on real events or not (haven't googled yet); the series is about the early days of Behavioural Science Unit in FBI, before criminal profiling and the term 'serial killer' existed.
It has that Silence of the Lambs (of course) vibe mixed with X-Files (nothing supernatural, just that they're considered fringe unit, which Anna Torv starred before in ... err ... Fringe laugh.gif )

After finished binge-watching ST Season 2, I continued watching Beyond Stranger Things, not expecting much becoz was comparing it to After Thrones kinda show ... but it's not just recaps and speculative discussions, actually got lotsa inside informations and kinda funny revelations, due to participations of the creators and one of the directors/producers, besides the main casts (why Winona Ryder didn't join in any form? some who can't make it coz maybe busy or expensive showing up fee coz already famous, did record messages on videos).

Really like more of the 1970s & 1980s references, especially Dig Dug, Ghostbusters, a bit of Exorcist, Aliens

New shows with 1980s movie references? ... can't think of any at the moment. (If movie, wait for Ready Player One, should be a blast if Steven Spielberg didn't change too much from the book).

Supernatural or paranormal shows? Plenty ...
X-Files, haha.
The Strain.
The OA.
Fringe.
Twin Peaks (a little harder to watch and understand, depends ...)
Wayward Pines (Time said the Duffer brothers got their start on the series, writing and producing a few episodes.)

Next in my list should be
Breaking Bad

The Punisher

I wanted to catch up watching Prison Break series too, ... got at least 2 good friends praising the series like must watch one, among their most favourite series, one even watch with whole family.

I remembered I watched one or two episodes before on TV last time, but wondered what's so captivating about it ... but because of those friends, wanted to give the series another try. I got stuck at Season 1 Episode ... can't remember.
Problem is I think, after getting used to higher quality short cable series (10 or 13 episodes in a season), it's hard to get back to network series (20 or more episodes in a season). Those series with many episodes will feel draggy coz they're programmed and written as such the main plot must be filled with many side-plots so that it'll reach the targeted number of episodes. Hence, many filler or boring episodes.

There are some exceptions, of course.

Still, I might give it a 3rd chance .... if nbtd.

Iron Fist is soft becoz .... previously he (Finn Jones) was Loras Tyrell a.k.a. Knight of the Flowers in GoT laugh.gif

And Colleen Wing was tougher than him becoz ... she (Jessica Henwick) was Nymeria Sand, one of the Martell Sand Snakes in GoT brows.gif

Got, but have to say though, with seemingly lower budget for Season 2, not all segments/videos are nice. Although the trio's chemistry is still there, the production team compared to BBC's, imho, the latter is better.

QUOTE(maraippo @ Feb 18 2018, 07:08 AM)
I watch. But not following its update directly. Prefer watch all at once
*
Watch all in one go??? unsure.gif Most probably you'll be pressing forward if didn't take sweet time to watch one episode per week oo .... coz it's not storyline-based series that will get you hooked and keep on binge watching.

Just finished Star Trek : Discovery the other day ... ok-lah, not bad.

The Orville might've been more entertaining despite the lower budget, the series can talk about almost anything, but less action compared to ST:D. wink.gif

On sci-fi as well, Altered Carbon isn't bad as well, was expecting cheesy superficial Bladerunner + Ghost in the Shell + Dick Tracy + Cloud Atlas mixture, but quite ok ... I like the diversity in characters, white, black, japanese, chinese, mexican, arabian, using own languages (without hard-encoded subtitles), and some serious themes ... neo-Catholics and Day of the Dead conflicts.

And some more down to earth series ... looking forward to This is Us Season 2.
Am following Ainori : The Asian Journey also ... Japanese mindset of finding compatible life-partner while travelling (I agree that's one of the best ways to really know someone) ... sometimes you wanna face-palm, but generally the editing and the studio commentators made the reality show funny and entertaining.

Anybody watching The Good Place?
Although a network TV sitcom series (NBC), only 13 <half-hour episodes.
Currently Season 1 is showing on Netflix, but no Season 2 yet on the streaming service becoz maybe season finale just finished airing on NBC (early Feb 2018).

Created by Michael Schur, co-creator of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Recreation, executive producer for Master of None (no wonder saw Alan Yang's name). Pilot episode was directed by Drew Goddard. Starring Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, etc.

Although touted as a philosophical sitcom (maybe I misread the online reviews), it isn't preachy and doesn't really touch on all philosophy topics such as metaphysics (maybe in future seasons, not sure) ... mostly on morality and ethics (due to the storyline, not just for the sake of dispensing the teachings). One of funniest comedy series in recent memory (my favs currently being Master of None, The Big Bang Theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, ... not draggy (hence the short 13 episodes only for Season 1, can binge-watch in one day). Good show!

Don't expect too much.
It's a mix of Ghost in the Shell + Blade Runner + detective stories (the only way for the main character to have excuse to ask questions and explore all other characters).

Got some humour, plenty of nudity, and violence (most of us jaded already I guess, due to GoT or similar series) ... keep track of the characters' names, which might be confusing at first, becoz in the storyline, the characters can change body (sleeving) ... so, same face sometimes can have different names.

For me, it's a good sci-fi...but not deep enough. Didn't read the novel. Maybe some parts will be explained in Season 2.

Ozark - disappointing
Starting hopeful, in middle become stagnant and shitty and stupid. Lame and boring and stupid

Money heist - disappointing
Starting hopeful, in middle become emotional and shitty and stupid. A freaking stupid series i cant believe i waste my time watching it. I quit at ep5. Bloody stupid

Homeland season 7 - starting shitty, but gets better midway.
*
Agreed with you on Money Heist ... was hyped to watch it after reviews and fren said can't stop watching ... I like heist stories with twists like Inside Man ... but I stopped watching Money Heist at Ep. 4 or 5 also, I think. Too many contrived plots.

But Ozark is fine for me. Managed to watch finished Season 1.

Yet to continue watching Homeland new season.

Jessica Jones S2, ya, I like that they made the storyline more personal.

Been watching mostly Netflix series ... but took time to watch AMC's The Terror after reading reviews about it .... err ... overhyped again, imho ... not that terrifying ... superb production and acting tho.

Finished watching all three seasons of Love ... a Judd Apatow produced sitcom; not for everyone, a laid-back type of modern LA/Hollywood romance, with imperfect characters ... should be excellent for cinephiles.

And have I mentioned Ainori Love Wagon: Asian Journey ... not bad for a Japanese (travelling/dating) reality show, some episodes quite emotional; some funny remarks from the commentators watching first time as audience. Season finale already.

And also NBC's The Good Place (only Season 1 available on Asian Netflix) ... I think I wrote in this thread about it before ... oh well, fork it, worth repeat watching if feel like it.

Is it like the 90's movie or the old campy 60's TV series or the new Battlestar Galactica?

The only good sci-fi series around today is Expanse.
*
Not as 'innocent' as the 90s movie (Gary Oldman was in that one, when he was more well-known for villainous roles; he wanna be in a family movie for his children) ... and I guess not definitely not the same as the 60s TV series, except in character names.

For me, it's like a mixed of The Martian + Apollo 13 + MacGyver + A Quiet Place (1 episode only, heheh) + family drama.

I wanna pick some scientific plot-holes with the series, especially the kinda dreadful episode 1 dialogues, but it got better when you accepted the villain in the new series will keep on playing mind-games. Some episodes are not bad at all (27 stones, the tar pit, comes to mind). Overall, quite good ... enjoyable seemingly high-budget series (visual effects are great).

If she gets on your nerve, means her acting is convincing.  biggrin.gif

I dunno the rest of the casts, but I think Dr. Smith and Robot stole the show, somehow.
*
Ya, I like to see how she'll wiggle her way out from situations with her lies and crocodile tears.

Penny kinda steps up, I like her attitude, while Judy disappointingly chocked, and Will, well ... still a kid.
John (looks like Michael Fassbender, which then reminds me of Alien movies), is okay...some guy viewers might be turned-off by his 'supporting' roles (except near the end), to Maureen, who is the brain behind most things, hence the main character.
But by the end, all got characters development, mostly all learned and improved something, which is good.

Looking forward to Season 2 next time ...
